Edited by: Ophelia Ursus on 05/04/2011 10:39:23 lots of scouts, mwd-cloak trick, maybe an in-corp webbing alt.
and even then, don't try it in busy space. could you build it on location, moving the components down in a JF? never built orcas, so no clue how viable this would be. alternatively, probe for w-space connections from your destination system to some place in highsec and move the orca that way. still risky, though. in corp/aggroed scout with webs.
If you get caught between two hostile groups just log until later.
worth noting most camps are on the exit points so you are most likely to get stung coming in from high sec.

1.) Align 2.) Activate Cloak 3.) Activate MWD 4.) When MWD cuts out after its one permitted cycle under cloak, deactivate Cloak 5.) Warp to where you were aligned.
Yes you can activate cloak before activating MWD if you do it quickly. However, with an orca being so slow it is likely an organised camp will be able to decloak you in that ten second gap whilst you are aligning under cloak.
Sling web means someone one reduces your top speed with a web allowing you to enter warp much quicker than under normal acceleration. Because you warp at 75% of top speed by the time they have you webbed you have already reached that speed due to your speed being drastically reduced by web(s). To make sure you can use a Rapier (with its web range bonus) so you are always on range on jump in even on regional gates when you spawn at opposite sides of the gate. Rapier will also some spare mid for sensor boosters to make sure you lock fast and also serves as a decent scout because it cloaks. However, the webbing ship will have an aggression timer of one minute preventing it from jumping a stargate or docking. This can be a problem.
PS - You should practice whatever you are going to do in hi-sec first. |

If not in a rush, do a gate a day just before downtime so that you land at a gate with seconds to spare.

Red Frog does not do lowsec. Black Frog does. But a repackaged Orca is 500k m^3. Does not fit into a JF (360k m^3 max).

In the old days, I used to slow-boat freighters into 0.0 (through HED-GP!), solo. The way I did it was to make a safe spot in each system, approximately 1/2 way between the two gates. I'd have an alt at each gate, at a BM off-grid, scanning for ships. If both gates were clear, I would jump the freighter through and warp him to the half way point. I would then move an alt into the next system, scan near the gate and jump the other half way and jump through. Rinse and repeat for 40 jumps. I never got caught, but then I would always log at the 1/2 way point in the previous system if I saw a non-blue in current system local. Yes, it can take a while to do the trip :p.
Basically, be prepared to lose your ship - i.e. if you can't afford to lose it, don't attempt it.

You need scouts... that's it... Find someone you trust that can scout you, and that knows how to scout.
I'd be willing to do it, but I might want a fee depending on where it is! Contact me in game and I'll help you out. My corp has a solid reputation for holding to our word.

Scouts and using D/t to your benefit if you are able to.
Mercs is a more expensive, but more realistic option
Another thing you could try is WH's, if you can scout out a C2+ with a HS WH inside, you are golden, as long as it isn;t to a HS island.

Someone to scout you, a corp mate or two in falcons or blackbirds. And warp core stabs and a cloak. You'll get there eventually. But if there is more than 1 neutral in system, you don't wanna risk it.

If you are stuck doing it solo, and have plenty of time on your hands (and I mean plenty) then the thing to do is log on immediately as soon as you can after downtime - and I mean literally as soon as you can, in the first minute - and then make the dangerous jump into the next system, go somewhere safe and log off. Repeat this the following day until you get to where you want to be. It reduces your chance of encountering a gate camp to absolute minimum, simply because they haven't had time to form up. But I'd advise an escort if you can too, simply because you might find a solo camper that needs picking off.

Edited by: Theodoric Darkwind on 06/04/2011 15:20:49 Use a scout to check the systems ahead of you (and by scout I mean use your own alt to scout or a corpmate), put a cloak on it, avoid Amamake, Rancer, Tama, Hagilur and Old Man Star, try to move it at a time of day when most of the local pirates are inactive.
I know someone who got an orca back into highsec after around 25 jumps worth of nullsec with just the aid of a proto cloak and a scout (the orca got stranded out in null after it ended up on the wrong side of a crashed WH), at one point he was slowboating at 6 m/s out of a bubble while cloaked with the gatecamp trying to find and decloak him (amazingly they failed to decloak him).

Lots of good info here. If you like adrenaline rushes, they will definitely be exciting. A lot depends on where exactly its located. If you're thinking of it more from the business side and are trying to cut potential losses/risks, there is an unorthodox solution too. You can reprocess the ship into cap components, which can then be moved by a JF. Depending on the exact circumstances, you will lose some of your original investment, but that might be better than losing the ship to a gank. You can either sell the components and buy a new orca, or use a bpc to build another. Not an ideal solution, but one to add to your bag of tricks. |

Edited by: rock crawlermne on 06/04/2011 21:51:46 I once got a freighter threw null sec and 4 jumps deep to a C6 WH.
We had about 3 scouts, 3 jumps ahead, all in cloakys to watch the gates.
we had about 3 gank fit bc's escoritng me, each one was set up with a web.
Here's how it would go:
Freighter jumps threw gate, immeditaly starts to warp to next. Duing allign, once freighter got to 20% speed, bc's would activate web, instantly sending frighter into warp...no kidding, I was warping sideways a few times.
do it right, and you alling and warp about as fast as a fat ass cruiser, or a battlecruiser.

I shouldn't be too hard,
1. Fit as many WCS in lows as possible,
2. Put a prototype Cloak on it, if trouble finds you, cloak and burn to the gate. Pray they don't decloak you,
3. Have a scout ahead of you, and if you want to be paranoid... another scout behind you behind you to make sure nobody is following you,
4. Go at a time where most people are inactive,
It's only 7 jumps, I doubt your going to run into any trouble, unless your going through tama or a busy lowsec system,
If your scouts do find a gate camp... find a different way, even if you do make it they are probably going to follow you through the gate, what pirate wouldn't want to shoot a helpless orca?
I'd shoot it! And I'm not a pirate!
Don't bother with an 'escort' if you do get in a fight your probably the first one to pop.
So good luck with that!

Get an escort. The MWD/cloak trick works on most ships but the orca is simply too slow to pull it off. Additionally, it lacks the PG to fit a BS sized MWD and the cruiser sized one doesn't do much. If you can't get the numbers for an escort, get a pair of scouts in webbing frigates. Have one scout a system ahead while the other webs you into warp. Do remember the 1 minute aggro timer so your webbing frig will have to spend no less than 1 minute in each system. So perhaps 1 scout and 2 webbing frigs so they can take turns and keep up.
A cloak + burning to gate will never work with the orca, they'll catch you. I've caught an orca in low sec that tried precisely that in a solo BS with no speed mod. That's how slow they are. Also, I agree that battle orca is best orca. I prefer a shield/hull tank + cyno. But that's just me. Thus far you shall read, but no further; for this is my sig. |

Well, ok, if you want to be technical about it, you're really getting it through in two pieces, but still... -------- Enemy corps raided into disbandment: Three.
