EVE Online: Incursion 1.4 was deployed to Tranquility during downtime this Wednesday, April 6, 2011. A full list of patch notes is available here and new additions have been added in green text. To assist our Mac users we will provide a detailed listing of Mac patch notes and known issues along with useful advice on how to use the mac repair tool and a guide on reporting issues.
Patch notes for 1.4 (deployed April 6th)
- Updated the icons for client and patches.
- If you notice any new issues cropping up (or want to bring an existing issue to our attention) please take a look at the general issues thread before posting your issue here.
Known issues for 1.4
- Various crash issues; please contact customer support for help in resolving these. Some users have reported that clearing the client cache resolves this issue for them, please note that any direct editing of preference files is never recommended.
- AA cannot be turned on if you also have depth effects enabled, this is something we are looking into. Not sure when or if we will be able to support both in parallel.
- Command key no longer works for shortcuts, it still works for copy and paste etc.
Other useful info
- Shortcuts have been changed, for an example the quit client shortcut is now: ALT+SHIFT+Q
- Editing prefs files to start the client in windowed mode no longer works as it used to, please note that you can now change these settings via the ESC menu.
- If you run into any issues try running the repair tool first:
1. Download the Mac repair tool from here. The repair tool will be packaged as a .tgz file 2. Double click the file to extract 3. Double click on the extracted file 'EVE Online Repair.app' 4. When prompted, select the EVE Online client you use to connect to Tranquility and click open 5. The repair tool will auto start and when it displays the text 'complete', press close 6. Run your EVE client as normal
Please use this format for reporting any issues in this thread:
- Description of problem, the more verbal the better
- Hardware info (Mac model, GPU, CPU, RAM etc.)
- OS version
- Step by step guide to what causes the issue
- Step by step guide to any workaround that has resolved the issue for you

When I am installing the patch, I get an error message: Some of the files have been modified, please re-install.
I am on a Macbook pro, 2.8Ghz Intel chip, 4 GB of RAM, running 10.6.7
I have the install log if that would be helpful. I went back over the same process and looked for a way to re-install, but couldn't find that option. It just sent me through the same process with the same results.
Thanks for the help.

Didn't see this thread.
Mine's running really slow and glitchy. It's even freezing in the station whilst typing. Running a copy on Windows with Parallels is working as normal though.
Macs are better than non-Macs, why can't people make games properly for them :(

Patch worked fine.
But after docking from station, my Overview is corrupted, saying "Nothing found" and i cant do anything with my ship. That means I can't fly to another station or dock or all the other things.
Even the right-click menu does not work.
What i have done then: cleaned the eve cache and reseted all settings.
Now i am able to at least use my right click menu to dock up. But the Overview is still not working.
Will try to use eve repair tool and also, if that does not help, delete the eve folder from the library and retry.
I am Using a MacBook Pro 5,2

OK, after I ran the repair tool I now get a different error message: "Verification Failure. Your EVE client installation may have modified, damaged or corrupt files. Please run repair.exe located in the EVE game directory or re-install the game client."
If I reinstall the game client (which I don't even know how to do) doesn't that mean I lose all my settings? that is a real pain if true.

Once again I am astounded at the total lack of QC CCP takes when launching any new update or expansion. Why do I once again have to waste my time downloading a file automatically when starting the client, which ends up crashing!!! Then I have to waste more time downloading some repair tool to fix a client THAT WAS WORKING..... Now I will have to download your crazily oversized file and hope it works this time...
Clearly someone in your company needs a size 14 stuck up there ***.

OK, just for grins I ran the repair program a second time and now everything works fine. Seems like I'm in the minority on this thread though!

No not using multithreaded GL. Everything is on low/off settings with 1600x1050 resolution. What I normally play with basically.
I suppose you could call a virtual windows computer a hefty b/g application. I haven't undocked yet (don't see the point running like this plus I have no isk). I shall report back properly this weekend. But laggy station interfaces don't inspire me :(

Edited by: Malakai Draevyn on 07/04/2011 01:48:32 Still getting the 'no face' bug :
http://i24.photobucket.com/albums/c15/Draevyn/Screenshot2011-04-07at020248.jpg
2008 Black Macbook (MacBook 4,1) Intel GMA X3100 2gb ram 2.4ghz C2D OS-X 10.6.6
Graphics Settings for eve : Adaptor : XMA X3100 1 (output to external monitor via DVI cable) Windowed or Fullscreen : Window mode Resolution : 1600x1000 Multithreaded OpenGL : Enabled (no difference with it disabled either) Preset Interval : Interval One
Low Quality Characters : Ticked (and unable to deselect it) Texture Quality : Low
Resource Cache : Enabled AA : Disabled Shader / Texture / LOD Quality : Low
-=- -=- -=- -=- -=-
I also get an odd message when trying to access the Character Creator :
" Please note that since you do not have a graphics card that supports Shader Model 3 you cannot apply body modifications to your character. Any scars, tattoos, and/or piercings you may have applied to your character will be removed. Would you like to continue anyway?" : Yes / No
I find this odd because EVERY resource (apart from Wikipedia) I have been able to look up the spec of this gfx card on seems to report that it does indeed support shader model 3.0 (Wiki says 4.0 but I never fully trust the info on that damn site anyways.)
I know that the Mac client is a PC build which is then ported to OS-X through transgaming, but misreporting a SM3.0 card as one that is SM2.0 is a bug, surely ?!? ..:: MD ::..

Same error here. Client still old version. Downloads the patch and installs it with same errors each time. Cycle goes on. |

Ran the auto-patch, it failed. Gave me a corrupt file error or some such. Didn't write it down. Ran the Repair tool, and it downloaded the patch, it then gave a "ValueError: data error during decompression", and now the client gives me some ridiculously long verification error when I try to launch it.

Data error during decompression indicates a bad download, try the repair tool again. To decrease the chance of bad downloads it's recommended to use a wired connection as opposed to a wireless one.

But what are the symptoms, for an example can you not select the input box or does it just not register any keystrokes? If it cannot be selected with the mouse can it be selected with keyboard? What language setting are you using? Any and all data would help with this since it is quite obviously only happening to a very narrow subset of users. ------------------ Tester, Scrum Master Quality Assurance

Yes, I can activate the box with both keyboard and mouse (highlighted borders) also can type in username box everything seems normal except that I cant input letters
U.S. International Input Language
I am not able to reproduce this issue at all, please try running the repair tool (see OP) and if that doesn't work please file a bug report with a Cider trace so we can check that for clues. ------------------ Tester, Scrum Master Quality Assurance

Edited by: Debir Achen on 07/04/2011 12:49:30 Is anyone else having problems with the download?
(1) Began downloading this morning. Ran out of time after a few Mb, so cancelled out.
(2) Tried again tonight. Downloads to 23% and then seems to pause.
(3) Tried downloading patch manually. Got 138Mb out in no time flat, but it's taken 2 hours to reach 243 Mb.
(4) Tried downloading full client. Get same issues.
I've had this problem pulling the installer down before. It goes OK for a little while, then goes REALLY slow. I don't think it's on my end, because I can access other sites just fine.
(More info: it seems that something is throttling my download to around 50 packets per second. That's only ~75kB per second, including headers.
