Subject says it all i just read it as hadn't visited evetribune in a while and then saw

and nothing there seems insanely ground shattering, but also solves a insane # of capital problems, if it does come true will be truely amazing i love the idea of the return of the mothership as it was meant to be, alliance would light the mothership module, alliance pilot capsules cyno to the mothership and fit up god knows, a huge moble staging base, i mean 10 battleships of space is wesome would mean 20 battlecrusers, or say 15 and god knows how many logi/bombers

1 Supercarriers as they are seem to be fine. The problem is that when you compare them to Carriers it's such a massive jump in EHP, Damage and finally cost.
The average SC sells for what? 18-20 bil? This is what? 20-25X what a carrier costs? An SC SHOULD be 25x the ship a carrier is. It COSTS that much.
If you lower the damage of an SC by 25-33% then the build cost should be lowered by 25-50% as well.
2nd This new mothership class sounds fine, BUT... If it's going to cost as much as a titan, be basically a titan defensively, but with virtually no damage, they're going to die a LOT. The whole idea of this class is to get BS's to the front fast. So they should have a GREATER jump range then any other cap/super so they can deploy fast, but if they've got do offence, then they'll die a lot. And at the cost of a Titan, I don't see too many being deployed.
Example.
Alliance Alpha needs to deploy 500 BS's to a fight. That means they'll need 50 of these ships. 50 Ships that cost as much as titans. Then they'll need 50 or so SC's for defense or 100 Triage carriers. That's 100-150 people just to safely deploy 500 bs's. That's just ridiculous. Unless they're able to deploy this jump portal while in a pos that is.
I think if they're going to be the size of a Titan, but without the titans offensive weapons, it needs a fighter complement of a Supercarrier. Maybe not in Fighter Bombers, but in normal fighters. For defense. At least a titan has a CHANCE of fighting off a small capital fleet. This new MOM won't. It'll be a Jump Freighter in a combat op. That's NOT something I want to see.
I'd recomend bumping the ammount of ships they can carry to 25 BS's. This way you only need 4 of them for a 100 man fleet. Or 10 for a 1k man fleet.

I don't think its real but who knows I do think we will maybe see changes coming but who knows.

A rifter costs what, 1mil after fittings? And a tier 1 BS costs 100mil+. By your logic, a BS should be doing 100 times as well on the field as a rifter, so like 20k DPS and 400k ehp yeh? Cost may be one of the balancing factors of ships, but it's never a 1:1 tradeoff between the 2, 2 ships costing X will ALWAYS be better than 1 ship costing 2X (the exception to this being SCs atm) |
