I really want to like this game, but I'm having a hard time finding things that are actually fun to do as everything seems to be "press a few buttons then afk while it does <X>".
I think having someone to play with would be cool, I'm in a corp but everyone always spreads out and never really plays :/
I have 1.2m SP and I'm fairly new to the game, I'm near Jita
Anyone interested? Message me in game: Giddie

Sounds like you should find a better corp. Most of the fun you can have in this game is with other people, and you need an active corp that does things together for that.

Get a better corp.
Seriously.
Check out Eve University if you're new to the game, a quick Google'ing will yield all the relevant information, I'm sure.

This is pretty typical response of waht you'll get around here, so don't feel too bad. I hang out a lot in the corporation recruiting channel since I am also looking for amarr friends to pvp with. Sadly most players out there are going to try and tell you that you're a stupid newbie and a troll and all that stuff, but really you just want to chill with good players and learn stuff from them.
My advice would be to go out and solo pvp and get some losses on your record. It seems like the best way to get respected by the older players is to show you have gotten all your ships blown up over and over again. At some point players start to convo you and ask if you're just stupid or was that ship an actual fit you came up with (had this happen to me several times now) and from there they start to feel bad that they're letting a really motivated new player slip through the cracks. They know that if you're dedicated and even if you ship sucks you'll be a good asset for their corp so they might talk to you some.
Also, don't contract anything to people in goonswarm because they'll tell you that they are going to help u move to their space in delekin but actually they just steal it from you and call you pubtrash.

I'm a new player myself (4 months) and I'll hang out with you. In a manly way of course.
Send me an in-game mail and we could hook up for some missions/mining or something.
And heed the advice from other posters, switch corporation. Being in one that is active makes the game much more fun. I'd even go so far as to say being in a bad corporation in EVE is game-breaking, unlike other MMOs. That's how important it is.

I have the same feeling. I've been playing for about three weeks. I really appreciate the depth of the game, and its potential. But the other players are just background noise and it's not all that "fun."
I've moved into 0 sec to at least get some action, but can't find anyone to fight!

I woulda posted sooner but the opriginal post was made at 1-2 in the morning for me, i dunno if it's just someone who likes to play late at night or if there half way round the other sid ode the planet .. either way can't say i'll do somehting iof i'm not actually gonna be there,
I've been playing for 4 months now, being sat in the UK you egt a varied amount of people playing, but this gonna sound pretty dumb i'm still yet to join a faction, i that stupid for someone been playing that long. Anyhow stuff gets repetitive & i was wondering if teaming up in a faction would be a good idea.
So if anyone can come up with anything & they play around normal sorta times i'd be willing to team up, I've been training up my Minning skills so i could make use of some trustworthy teammates .. I always hear about low-sec mining etc etc, so some security would be cool, also hawlers to sell ores, I'm no pro at this game & have never ventured past 0.4 space because of lack of need to. So people with experiance & can be truistworthy we could make something of this.
Shout us back .. cheers

Same here mate, send me an in-game mail (or try and catch me in the late afternoons/evenings) and maybe we could do some mining and/or exchange newbie stories.

There is no point asking for trustworthy people because that will, without a doubt, lead to attracting untrustworthy people. Just because you're not paranoid doesn't mean they're not out to get you, right?

There's no point venturing into null if you've just played for three weeks. That's just a recipe for disaster. I wouldn't mind to hook up to have a chat or something though.
