I haven't been up with all the latest changes...I know NPC ECM was changed to use normal mechanics. But...does regular ECM work this way against NPCs?
The reason I ask is that I recently lost a fleet stabber that was very dear to my cold ninja heart when I ran into a WCS'd Golem who was able to warp out while being scrammed by rats. I used to think of my 27K EHP + drones to deal with any frig tacklers, but when 90% webbed that kind of goes down the ****ter
So I was thinking of replacing one of my LSEs for an ECM burst. Would this be effective against NPC scram rats? Also, I'm being ****d by stacking penalties in the lows, but I'm not really sure of anything else that would be useful in the slots...though I'm tempted to try warp core stabs, as you don't exactly need huge targeting range and scan res when targeting wrecks.
My current fit is this:
[Stabber Fleet Issue, Ninja] Nanofiber Internal Structure II Inertia Stabilizers II Inertia Stabilizers II Nanofiber Internal Structure II Nanofiber Internal Structure II Damage Control II
10MN Afterburner II Y-T8 Overcharged Hydrocarbon I Microwarpdrive Large Shield Extender II Large Shield Extender II
Salvager II Salvager II Salvager II Salvager II Salvager II
Medium Salvage Tackle I Medium Salvage Tackle I Medium Core Defence Field Extender I
Hammerhead II x3 Hobgoblin II x2
Thoughts?

Not sure where you plan on Ninja'ing, be it High sec or Low/Null.
However, keep in mind that hitting neutral parties can be a bad thing.
ECM Burst, just like Smartbombs, can potentially get you Concorded. - Explosions!

If it was in low/null it wouldn't be ninja salvaging, but just salvaging(after you gank the ship).
So ECM burst is not a good idea for ninja salvaging. The ECM burst has **** range and jam strength on unbonused ships anyway.

ECM burst and really any AoE weapon/module is an incredibly bad thing for highsec. I don't think you can jam regular NPC rats either, but I may be wrong on that.
I'd suggest a Web and possibily some light ACs to supplement your drones for tacklers ...Then when you stopped to think about it. All you really said was Lalala. |

NPC ECM wasn't actually changed ù it has used the normal mechanics for ages. And yes, ECM works against rats as well ù it's just not used much since it's usually a waste of slots. ùùù ôIf you're not willing to fight for what you have in ≡v≡à you don't deserve it, and you will lose it.ö ù Karath Piki |

Not much else is going to be useful on a ninjaboat.
I think with T2 WCS, though, the penalties to lock speed and range become more or less irrelevant to a salvage boat, though, so I think I may just end up using those. You all bring up some good points about ECM burst.

You're likely to hit one of the wrecks you're salvaging and get concorded for that. In any case, rats lock instantly, if you're webbed at the same time, they'll relock and rescram before you get up to speed to warp off.
Just wondering, looking at that fit... are you seriously ninja-salvaging for the salvage? Just some mission runner channel and beg for their bms if that's the case.

Nah, if it was pure salvage I'd be using a vigil or something. I also go for the loot and the ganks.

seems even S&M contains a fair few bitter missionrunners. If it helps, I got a kill yesterday that made up for my loss.

Not bitter. I originally thought were were simply ninja salvaging, but the reality is that you were not.
I have been able to kill one ninja salvager simply by setting mission rats on him, got some nice modules from their catalyst wreck.
