Hey again all. I managed to pound out another video over the past couple weeks - going on a long vacation soon and wanted to get this done.
Tempestuous
Length: 23:04 Size: 1.16gb Res: 1680x1050
Ships flown: Maelstrom, Torp-Phoon, Dual-Rep Tempest
So this video is a little different from my last one. With the exception of the first 2 scenes, I ditch the fancy crystals and security of gate guns and venture into 0.0 in armor-tanked hulls - sometimes even sans-rigs. Thus, the odds are not as impressive as my last video. I still think there's something to enjoy here though - I actually had more fun in this kind of setup.
Overall I'm really not convinced that this is a better video than my previous, but like I said it's different. My piloting deficiencies are more obviously on display without implant help, so it's kind of a more honest video.
I'm really curious to hear what you guys all think.
The music is also entirely different to match - it's largely what I would call progressive metal.
Track List: Muse - MK Ultra Tool - Stinkfist Mastodon - Divinations Dream Theater - Pull Me Under Dethklok - Bloodrocuted Opeth - Patterns in the Ivy/Blackwater Park
Previous Videos: 17 Days of Solitude Riot Battlecry

Actually I'm working on a proper .mkv right now, realized that the framerate on the one up sucks anyway and it's really annoying to me. Will start uploading then sleeping, so check back in ~12 hours.

Edit: actually I really don't know what I'm doing in terms of encoding. Will try to work on this.
If someone would be so kind as to make a decent .mkv of this I would love it. Honestly I am trying but can't get it any smaller without changing the resolution and making it almost unwatchable.
Google a program called staxrip. It's a good and easy tool for encoding mkvs. ------

Edited by: Proxyyyy on 15/04/2011 06:21:48 That comment you made in the first engagement, with the maelstrom had me laughing real hard. Then it was topped by the ECM drone fiasco (f0cking ECM-drones!). Had me on the floor, rolling (kinda drunk).
Realy nice one dude!
Peace!

Great footage, minimal but good and fitting editing, and you actually grew a music taste
Loved it.
You should give some thought to your ship naming convention though. Just in case another one deserves a tale spun about her, it would be nice to not have to call the movie "Toothpaste"

RIGHT?! haha I definitely plan on being more considerate when naming ships, hadn't thought I would be making a video like this.
And actually I've always had this taste in music - just never felt it applied well to eve videos... but now I see the light I suppose!
Thanks for the kind comments, guys.

Opposite problem here. It's really choppy (unwatchable) on VLC for me, however it runs fine for me on WMP. A lot of the choppiness problem has to do with an unnecessary high video bit rate. It's over 7000+kbps which can be trimmed down a lot, into the 3000-4000kbps range and still get clear, smooth quality. It would also reduce the file size a lot. I would consider adjusting these rendering options on your next release.

I'll start to compress it as soon as I get it down, and if noone else has put it up by then, I'll give you a link withing a few hours from this post.
Personally I use a tool called "Winnydows" for compressing. It's both advanced in how you can compress, but really easy interface. It's the tool I recommend the most for anyone doing compressions. It's also really fast, faster than most software I've tried. Please re-size your signature to the maximum file size of 24000 bytes. Zymurgist |

I use the same exact tool (Winnydows), and agree its much faster than comparative tools. I used it on my last release, 047, the other week. here is a screenshot of the encoding settings I use. You'll notice that my original file size was about the same as yours, and you can see upfront how much size you save based on your settings before you encode.

For some reason my PC decided that crapping on itself was fun, so I've had some issues. For some reason it won't accept this file so I can't compress it. I'll try and do some workarounds and see what the problem is. If anyone else already have it done, feel free. If not I'll try my best.

E: now that I've finished watching it, those were some nice fights you got in to! I was frustrated however with the comments a lot of the time as you'd spoil the fight before we even got to watch it unfold. I don't want to know the outcome before i watch it. spoilers=bad
I'm sorry that the comments had that effect for you - I guess there's a line between making sure the viewer understands the engagement fully and spoiling what happens.
Thanks for all the comments guys! If someone does end up getting an .mkv done that'd be great, but otherwise I'll just make sure that my next release is properly compressed.

MKV: Here 166MB
Edit: Just realised it got borked somewhere along the lines, not entirely sure what happened to it. The content all seems to be there and the music seems to finish too soon. I'll leave the link up so people can download if they want to though.
As for the vid, really enjoyed it :)
