not going to lie, I'm surprised I haven't at least gotten one GM comment by now.. but they've closed tons of other topics, so I have to assume mine has at least been read lol.. I've done all I can, but they're definitely dropping the ball on their end.. I'm gonna start posting the link for this thread through all systems of eve, more people to the cause! lol

Like many others, I've acquired many fits over the years, with the change I was forced to offload 700+ fits off of the eveclient and into pyfa. At least those that would parse. Some would not parse, and those are gone for good. It is alot more troublesome to import fits with the limitation. I've found myself avoiding saving good fits that other players link me, simply because I don't want to deal with having to export and overriding my one backup, pre-fitting change. I just alt-tab copy the fitting details of a fit I put together, or a fit a friend has linked me via DNA, and just buy/pick the modules and fit it up, module by module. I do hope a better solution does come along, but until such time, I'll make do.

Yes, good point. Having to "make do" and alt-tabbing to 3rd party stuff, for no real good reason, with something that was making a relative good job at it as it was.
Keep posting the links and get your corpmates involved, get them to post. Even if they don't have 50 fittings yet, soon they will. And then the head will start to hurt.

Originally by: Nisktonhen This idea is a very useful and handy thing, but the way it is currently leaves it rather limited. I have 448 fittings, and I can only pick 50 at a time.. how am I supposed to pick? I'm used to having all fittings for a certain ship just a single click away, now if I don't have it in fittings I have to export 1 (or more) of my 50 so I can get the one I want into EVE.
My suggestion is, that CCP let people choose if they want to use the server storage for fittings if they want to, but give the option to use it or not instead of making it mandatory. For me, the server storage is an inconvenience, especially at a tiny 50/448 fittings.. I personally would rather just have EVE access the fittings on my computer, for the sole reasons* of having access to all fittings at the same time AND the fact that I have control over the fittings, and if by accident EVE had a server burp, I wouldn't lose fittings.. I would rather keep my own backed-up fittings on my own computer and have EVE pull from there, it just makes sense to be given the option. Thanks for your time!

as we talked about this damn thing since day 1 I'm glead u made a move Nisk. I have prolly arround 800 fits: -fits for noobs -fits for skilled -fits for seniors -pro fits out of which: pvp and pve (all for various occassions) soooooooo many ships in EVE and if ur not there only for yourself ur def gonna have **** ton of fittings.
what a hell is that feature that u HAVE to fit rigs manually ? is it to save few dumbasses from wasting few rigs being dumbass ?
THIS IS EVE mofo stop making it into 2 yo childs game they have planty of games to play and can watch You play EVE untill they grow up and learn to do more than hold a f... trigger button
GIVE US OUR DAMN FITTINGS BACK mofo LMAO

Dear CCP,
This change is one of the worst ideas you had as long as I play the game. You can't just leave us with 50 fittings and the current interface. As Nisktonhen pointed out, it is practically impossible to import/export fittings at a regular basis. It is slow, tiring, painstaking and inefficient.
Please, either leave as an option to choose between locally saved and server saved fittings, or change the import/export interface to something more user friendly.
Alternatively, you could make a combination of the 2 systems. You can let us save all our fittings locally and have immediate access as we used to, and create a new "portable" folder where we can save at the server a maximum of 50 fittings. This way everybody will be happy.
What do you say?
Will you do it CCP and save yourselves from all the curses we are currently aiming at you?

love ur killboard little ehm carebear though ur at least trying ... http://eve.battleclinic.com/killboard/combat_record.php?type=player&name=Damien+McCandless
u do realise this is not topic for 5 selfish man carebearing corporations ?
though talking about whining u prolly know all there is to know about that.
now, stfu ur opinion means as much as ur killboard and go mine or do missions; for that u hardly need more than a few fittings.

you know, eventually.. CCP MAY actually listen to us and let us choose.. I haven't used fittings a lot since they changed it cause it's such a pain in the butt to use.. I would like to have my fittings back seeing as I have more than the "only 50 fittings" too.

This really smacks of one of those 'sounds great at the time' kinda decisions; you know the ones where you look at the immediate pro's and don't wait to iron out all of the implications.
*Sigh* Hope they sort this out one way or another soon - leaving it like this seems senseless to me

Fittings should be saved client side, not server.
I can't really think of any really good reason why not, but can think of a lot of good reason why.
If CCP feels fittings cause to much database issues well having them saved client side would solve that, and people can have there 400+ saved fittings.

People often playing on different computers.
As if keeping bookmark folders and overview settings synchronized isn't a PITA enough. ---

yeah sure, you have a valid point.. but the people who only play on one computer shouldn't be handicapped because the people you are talking about want to play on their laptop for a bit.. then go play on a desktop.. then go over to a friends house and show off their cool new ship and the fittings they can use on it...
bottom line is, there should still be a choice.. I'm sure some people would choose server side storage, but I would elect client side myself...

I save some fits for future use that I know I can't use at the current moment in time.. and I just topped 50 fittings, so now I have the choice of doing what.. exporting or deleting? this is a fail upgrade on ccp's part, I'm thoroughly unimpressed...

Originally by: Jovan Geldon There is nothing stopping you from having the fittings stored on your computer; porting them to the server does not delete them. You could just port your 50 most often used one over and keep the rest in EFT. Alt-tabbing out for 30 seconds to check a fit doesn't take THAT much effort.
Also...four HUNDRED and forty-eight fittings? Really?
The point of the fittings is speed not memory. I know how to fit all my ships, But it takes time. The fittings tool lets you swap fits out in seconds, not minutes.
This was a solution without a problem, server side fittings make it slightly easier for people who use multiple computers to access their fittings (saves them exporting/importing) them, however for that minor convenience for a few players they nerfed everyone. If you haven't already done so I recommend (well I would ) signing my petition "The Great Ship Fitting Nerf" in the assembly hall. Also watch out for a dev response to this in the 'ask a dev a question' response thread. __________________________________________________
