Hello CnP! Today I want to talk to you about a serious problem. One that affects almost 1 in 2 major alliances in eve. I am of course referring to kill-board padding.
This is where members of an alliance attempt to make their alliance look scarier and more efficient at pvp by killing noob ships by the dozen.
Consider this you are looking up somebody in battle clinic and you notice that they have a 85% efficiency rating or that they have 4000 kills. You might think to yourself "wow this guy is a scary mister mean face". But look again.. More then half of his kills are velators that belong to a user named TonyCandtheJets.
Over 95% of his pod kill-mails are also pods from velators that belong to TonyCandtheJets.
Now I ask you is this person really that impressive?
NO the answer is NO!
Killing noob ships to pad your stats is just as bad as people who hack in COD to get tenth prestige or whatever the crap. Killing noob ships to make you the person with the most kills in your corp/alliance/group of friends is just as bad as people who boost in battle field 2.
So next time you see a noob ship gently hobbling through your sector of space consider that it can't hurt you, can't cyno in reinforcements and it is probably just looking for somebody to play with.

this thread sucks because you are trying to magnify something that has been going on since this game began. dont think youre smart cause you figured out a grief discovered a long time ago.

Nowhere did I claim that I was the first or the last person to come across this. I am simply trying to raise awareness.

We should take a lesson from their amazingness and we should all love the British royal family because they are pure awesomeness for allowing working class hobos to become royalty *fall off chair and spills Brandy* |

When you referenced this TonyCandtheJets guy surely you meant his deaths, not kills. I've seen similar things in High Sec: botters somehow become flagged and then continuously undock, die, redock, undock, die, repeat. I'm guessing it's a courier bot thing. Maybe that's the case with TonyCandtheJets or maybe he's just a tool in a KB padding scheme by this other alliance. But only newbs look only at a corp/alliances K/D ratio without also looking at the value of destroyed ISK vs. the value of lost ISK. Granted you can slip in a fake Titan kill to help that along too but that's one kill that can be easily petitioned at the KB home.

You make a good point. I think its worth mention that the people who kill me often brag about it like its something difficult to do. Killing noob ships doesn't even troll people as there is nothing of value lost. It is much more interesting in my opinion to web and scram them until they beg for you to let them go or they self destruct. Now that takes way more skill then just blasting every newbie ship you see. Team Blue |

The OP is such a ****poster. A noob ship can be used to carry low volume high value goods[PLEX, BPO, Implants], be a fleet warp-in, gather intel, or just have someone you dont like/non-blue flying it. Very rarely is it really some new guy who just doesn't have anything else. If someone wants to make an alt and keep killing Ibises who gives a ****. It doesn't make them good and kills dont mean a lot because you dont get a kill for that amazing tackle you got or perma-jamming someone. Also lets go over fleet warp ins. Apparently you are a bit fuzzy on that. When you are in a fleet with someone you can warp to them. So have a neut alt warp into a system ahead of the fleet, finds a guy, and fleet jumps in and warps to the alt. that quick lesson on fleet warp ins will be 25M feel free to send me the isk directly. so death to non blues even Ibises.

This is like those people who look at k/d ratio as the way to tell if the person is a good player in a team environment in games like Battlefield and Halo.
No one looks at k/d ratio (or killboard stats, id imagine) if they are looking for someone who is good in a team environment.
Just because someone has a 3.0 k/d ratio doesnt mean they dont suck ass in team-focused game play. Im just using this as an example, the killboard seems like the same thing to me.
Arent there other, more important stats people (smart people) should be looking for?

I am just saying that killing TonyC is and other mentally challenged people when they are clearly defenseless and aimlessly wondering through null sec is not cool.

Most 0.0 corps have a "if it isn't blue kill it" policy. Also it isn't your space so anyone that isn't blue to us doesn't belong there. And There isn't anything to see so you must be intel gathering. Since those ships are free don't worry about it when you lose one. Unaffiliated newbies need to learn to stay out of null sec anyway, it's an inexpensive yet important lesson better and Ibis than a Drake.

Eh...I have a few rare instances of n00b ship killing...
One was back in the day when I can flipped miners. I saw a mining Harbinger and tried to canflip it but only got a small amount of ore. They came back in a Imparior and attacked my Arbitrator. Fearing for my life, I struck down the plucky Imparior. They came back in a second Imparior and I killed that, too.
And then another...and another....and another....
By the seventh time, I was getting bored so I scrammed and neuted the Imparior just so that the rats would kill him for the lulz. It turns out that .6 sec rats are terrible at blowing up rookie ships so I blew that one up as well and didn't engage the next one. Amusingly, during this time, someone in a Typhoon showed up and attacked me and was concorded. A bunch of rookie ships were blown up and my killboard stats were padded because of this.
Other times is when my space gets a wormhole to high sec which we have yuks and trick n00bs into our space with candy where we have horrible HICs and HACs waiting to kill them. Sometimes, they try and try again until we tell them the real story. I even got some tears from these events.

Ok that is different then killing a noob ship that is merely exploring space. I like to go to different territories and chat with people in local. Team Blue |

Not exactly. We fleet them and warp them to our wormhole where we immediately tear them apart when they enter our space.
