Only when we can shutdown empire stations as well.
Also, no, there are places in 0.0 with not enough outposts. -----------------------------------

Edited by: Illwill Bill on 19/04/2011 14:01:22 It would be a decent supercap sink:
Ramming a supercarrier into a station would destroy one (with a random chance of additional one) station service, as well as podding anyone in station (even when logged off). If a station has no services left (or if it has one, and a second wave of destruction is due), the station will be destroyed, killing all people, and destroying all property in the station.
Titans would be nuking stations instantly.
The pilots would of course be podded as well, and if attacking an empire station, he should be instantly Permanently lowered to -10 with the corporation and faction owning the station, as well as being permanently flagged as -10.

Wait.. Stations aren't destructable already? What is the reason for this?
When incarna comes out it would be cool if the attackers could put the station into reinforced mode which starts an evacuation timer that will kick out all docked pilots at its end. Then, the attackers have the option of going into the station to hack its systems and gain control of it or just destroy it completely.
As for destroying empire stations... I say if a group can fight off CONCORD and still destroy the station, they deserve to be able to wipe jita from the map!

they should make them destructable, however they need to put at least a 4-week timer in, and all people with assets in their get a notification.
would be a good isk renewal.

you can't fight off concord. ever. at all.
in .8 and below, you have a few seconds to live before they show up. in .9 and up, you get one volley. one.
how many gankpests does it take to alpha a station?

In the book Empyrean Age, that only worked because the station's shield facing the Nyx was sabotaged. Otherwise the Nyx would have bounced off.

Edited by: Verloc Nostromo on 19/04/2011 15:42:04 All that would end up happening was that SC's and titans would become even more so the FOTM, its not like SC's are in short supply. I understand and kinda like the concept but this would just encourage bigger blobs. (Again) Really big fights are already decided by who has more SC's, this would make it even worse. Why fight to take a system when you could just remove your opponents ability to use the system completely. Most fights like that are not so much about taking an opponenst space, but just removing them from it, so denying them space would be an over used alternative.

Indeed not.
The fact that Empire stations are protected by an economy (and hence navy/army/big guns) which dwarfs that of sov space seems to escape sovspace people.
That's what I meant in another thread when I said Eve is pretty unchanging these days.
"New" sovspace generally looks much like old sovspace in a week or so regardless of who thinks they "won".

Good idea!! Lets make everything destructable!
That way we get one big lol and then we can float around and do nothing!
Sounds fun.
While you're at it lets make it so that when you get killed you have to reroll and start over

Have you considered the possibility of stations being rebuilt?

I think the original reason they made stations indestructable was database issues.
What are you going to do with all the items on market and contracts in that station. For even your basic low activity outpost, you'd be looking at the server having to calculate for hundreds of thousands of different items.

Oh My Dog! Could you imagine how long it would take a computer server to do *Hundreds of THOUSANDS* of calculations? The number of microseconds it would take is simply mind boggling.
What computer system in this day and age could handle that?

Eve can barely handle large fleet battles... are you really asking if it can handle processing all the calculations for a station being destroyed?

hmm a large fleet batle is quite differnt to calculations being doen a destroyed station, in a lartge battle the varibles are unknown and every action (movement included( has to eb sent to every other client in as close to real time as possible, if a station was destroyed everything would be known at point o destruction I'm not saying it would be instant but a normal computer could work through that prety quick. ----------------------------------------- View The North Star! Seriously, what is there to calculate?

I don't see the downside. Also, Titans are destructible and still desired.
Destructible stations would likely still be conquerable and certainly defendable. The only thing to fear is fear itself. I'm fairly sure CCP lack the testicular fortitude for it though. I recall somebody at CCP admitting it. Though... obviously... they didn't say that... "blah blah reasons we don't have this are obvious blah blah"...
