Eighteen of my housholds accounts have been unfairly ganked for ten days for use of a macro Which is just not true. the eighteen accounts are shared between two adults and seven young girls of which one is just 13, So while they aren't play us adults are mostly into the night and wee hours of the morning. one of the adults is very ill with liver disease and cannot leave his bed so he plays eve around the clock training up our households characters. we are a family that plays around the clock most days we have six laptops 2x Win7 2xXP 1x macbook pro and 1 x ubuntu computer, there is nothing in the EULA that says you cant play around the clock is there? so why was I ganked for doing something I know for a fact was not happening, I would like to know when the macro was supposedly used and how Mo Shizzler came to the conclusion we broke the rules. the seven younger players must be supervised whislt playing eve because of predators this is why we do not have invitations turned on. Mo Shizzler is wrong and should hang it's head in shame. Because of this WRONGFUL ACCUSATION WE HAVE DECIDED WE WILL LOG OFF IF WE SEE ANY GANKERS IN LOCAL AND NOT TO PLAY EVE ANYMORE

I know that this is almost certainly a troll, but i'll play along. If macros were not used, then explain to me why after all the mining barges are dead and gone, the impel hauler continues to haul with no ore from belt to station for up to 12 hours after, 12 hours of hauling non stop from belt to station with no ore, no person would be that dumb.
Account sharing too, tsk tsk.

These 18 miners bot now logs them off so fast when I enter local, that literally the split second I jump in, they instantly all logout. I added them all to buddy list and took multiple fraps of it. Not that fraps is worth anything. CCP obviously don't care about macro users otherwise these guys would be long gone.

Smartbombing this specific group is no longer possible. Once a player has suicide ganked them once, this person adds the name of the ganker to his bot to automatically log of all of his miners if the gankers name is detected in local. The only good thing about this is it means you can make all of his miners stop mining just by entering the same system as them after ganking them. If you don't believe me, gank them and see what happens afterward every time you enter the same system as them. They log the instant you've loaded the system upon jumping in.

So... let me work this thought out... they log off, probably while mining, as soon as you log in, right? Which means, if I'm not mistaken, when they log back in they'll warp to their last location? If so, and you were waiting for them at that spot...

No, after they all logoff, which occurs the moment I or anyone who has suicide ganked them enters local, they don't log back for 10 hours later, because they're all bots, someone obviously isn't available to log them back in.

So as I understand the game mechanics, once the ship is engaged in combat, even if they logoffski, they are viable targets for X number of minutes correct? So I go grab a ship with a high number of target options, and target the whole fleet and put one round in to each ship, get CONCORDed, and then the rest of the fleet can come in and finish them off from one jump out, correct?

They log off the second anyone who has ganked them enters local, even if that person is just in a capsule, they're gone the instant you appear in local, all 9 characters instantly log, on either of their groups. All you need to have done for this to occur is to have suicide ganked them.
Between myself and another suicide ganker, who lives in the opposite timezone to me, their bots have been logged out for the most part of every day. They log in, set up their bots, half an hour later one of us jumps into local with them and they're instantly all signed out again. We're on about the 4th day of this occuring now. There are other ways these guys could combat us suicide ganking them, but they'd rather just macro-logoff and end up mining nothing for that day.
I find the fact that you've completely shut them down to be hilarious. I hope you have a few minutes every day to visit this lonely little system.

Edited by: Suddenly Boom on 05/05/2011 11:09:14 So we found 2 more identical groups mining in gallente space, ganked one already. 7 mackinkaws, 1 orca, and 1 impel. All characters born on the same date from both corps. All characters ships are named the same for all 36 characters we've discovered so far.
Corp names: Turbo linda corp and obliques.
Let me sum this up for people to understand: They have 4x 9 man corps, the first 2 corps have characters all created on the same date, and all mine 23/7 in their corp setup of 7 mackinkaws, 1 orca and 1 impel. All ship names are identical.
The second two corps have characters all born on the same date, they all mine 23/7 and in their corp setup of 7 mackinkaws, 1 orca and 1 impel. All ship names are identical, same ship names for both groups.
Almost all of their names are infact chinese names or failed attempts to make an english sounding name.

Almost all of their names are infact asian names or failed attempts to make an english sounding name. One of them is even called "Couldyoume". In total they have 28 mackinkaws, 4 orcas and 4 impels, mining 23/7, until recently, you can't mine 23/7 when you've been podded. That's a lot of isk btw!

Correct except for one thing. Even though their ships would stay in space, they still do an emergency warp. You would need to gank 7 individual targets in 15 minutes. For the effort and resources that would take, it's far more convenient just to make them log for the rest of the day -- which in itself can be quite entertaining. Jumping in system and watching the wall of red names instantly fill up the corner of my screen.
And confirming what the other guy said, we've observed a few more identical groups to the ones originally posted. I want a freakin' medal.

All 4 identical corporations of miners now log off exactly the same moment as I jump into local, further proof that this is the same group, probably farmers.

Ok, so how many people do we need in local do you think to keep the macro from tripping the instant log-off function when the gankers show up? Figure would need to be based on a 1024x768 display most likely.

This depends on how the bot is programed and what exactly it can do. I don't know as I've never programed anything like a bot before. But if the bot constantly scrolls up and down the local channel list and checks names, it wouldn't matter how many people were in local. More people would cause it to take longer, but not long enough for a ganker to warp to the belt and kill them unless we're talking about hundreds.
If the bot only checks names that are visible when the chat window is expanded all the way up to the top of the screen, I'd say maybe 30-40 people. And since local is in alphabetical order, the position of your name in that list would matter. So if your name starts with A, then you'd be on top and easily visible. If it starts with Z then you'd be on the bottom and possibly off the visible list.

I'd be willing to wager that if they're willing to log these off for most of the day to avoid the ganks, that these four corps aren't their only ones. It seems to suggest that they're still making enough money even with these four compromised that they don't care.
If they are, they're probably using the same, or similar, bots. one solution if you could somehow pull it off would be to get enough people on their logoff instantly list that they find it hard to operate at all. Particularly if you could get more or less permanent residents of the systems where they ice mine.
Hard to do, but their simple avoidance method is extremely exploitable.

Been watching one of these groups in Miah/Arera(sp?) and this might be enough for me to break my carebear ways and suicide gank me some botters.
Two things though....is a smartbomb Typhoon/Dominix pair going to be enough or should I spring for the Megathron?
Also, what do you think would happen if somebody popped the Impel instead? Watch the pod go back and forth and the Orca would fill up and sit there the rest of the day? |

All that really matters is the number of highslots you can cram large smartbombs into. Phoons and Geddons are therefore the best.
Malcanis' Law: Whenever a mechanics change is proposed on behalf of "new players", that change is always to the overwhelming advantage of richer, older players. |
