Edited by: Wedge Reskanor on 23/04/2011 18:34:59 Please replace references of "solar system" with "stellar system". There are numerous examples of agents and such referring to the next solar system over ect. This is incorrect usage of "solar system" because there is only ONE "solar system" in the entire universe: THE SOL SYSTEM!
Sol is the name of our sun, the one planet Earth orbits. That is why we call it the Solar system. When we are referring to another star system, we use "stellar system" as a generic term when we are not specifically using the name of that star. If we are specifically referring to the Wolf star for example, we would say, "Meet me in the Wolf system".
Therefore, it would be incorrect to say, "There are pirates in the next solar system". Instead it should be, "There are pirates in the next stellar system." (Yeah, I know it sounds lame, but if you don't like it then you can use the name of the star you are referring to)
I know its nit-picking, but I believe that in a high-quality game such as Eve, proper terminology should be important.
EDIT: fixed my "knit"

I guess I should justify why this post is in the test server feedback section... I noticed this specifically a few times in the new crash course when testing out the captains quarters.

Edited by: Kyra Felann on 23/04/2011 18:28:51 I agree. It should be "star system" or "stellar system".
Also, it's "nit-picking", not "knit-picking".
EDIT: it's in the main game as well. I don't remember where, but this has bugged me for a while now. -----WARNING SIGNATURE BELOW-----

"solar system" is both a proper noun (the Solar System) as well as a common noun (any planetary system), even astronomers such as Carl Sagan has used the more general meaning.
"The sky above the port was the color of a television, tuned to a dead channel."

Lol that is beyond nit picking.
to me it doesnt matter. Solar system/ stellar system. Solar panels/ UV panels.
Whatever. its still the same thing. I just wish the system map would have its own button and not require going through the star map.
