This would mean the total death of EVE.

I'd accept isk for remaps, but isk for SP would be ruinous.

Well one general question I'd like to see answered: what if there wasn't skills in EVE and we could fly everything? Why exactly would that be game breaking?
Skilpoints for isk The problem with this plan is that ISK is way too easy to get in EVE. Games like guildwars let you buy skills for in-game money but money acquistition is quite limited so it stays balanced. In EVE that wouldn't be possible as SP is the only bottlenck in your progression, not ISK.
Skilpoints for RL money Same as above. How much money would you propose for say 1 million SP, which is roughly 2-3 weeks of training?

Edited by: VaMei on 25/04/2011 04:25:03 What's the difference between isk for SP and buying fully develoved characters for isk? Personally I don't like either of the two, but would there be any difference if newly released skills were exempt from being paid for with free SPs?
The only difference I can see is that today anyone can buy a character with the skills they want want if one is for sale and they can afford its market price. If SPs were for sale for isk/RL$, everyone could by the SPs without supply/demand issues.

Characters sold with X skillpoints earnt those skillpoints at the standard rate, thus not drastically altering the average amount of skillpoints per character. Skillpoints bought directly with isk can be gained at an effectively infinite rate, rapidly and continually blowing out the average amount of skillpoints per character. In doing so, you may very well solve the isk inflation issue, but you replace it with out of control skillpoint inflation.
When everyone can do everything, you may as well remove skill altogether...

Horrible idea, leaves those with money/isk to have all the power and those that just get by to hope they can someday pay for skills..

1. Buy GTC (maybe a few) 2. Sell GTC (s) 3. Go to Character Bazaar 4. Buy Character 5. Be smug you just bought skill points.

Edited by: GeoBlue on 25/04/2011 13:13:08 IMO I believe this would make more players competitive and make for better 1vs1 and gang fights. The way eve is heading I believe it's a next step and guess what more money for CCP, which in turn might make eve a better game.

Yeah, right, and the next step should be indestructible ships and fittings. You can alter your fittings at any time and under any circumstances (if you have modules in your cargo; possibly there would be mobile ship array for you to alter your ship at any time), and you only earn/lose points on your killboard when you 'kill' or 'die'. ───────────────── <3 logistics |

Well if I would want to see anything available as far as SP's for sale, it would be to newer players so that they can start enjoying the game a little faster. Even with the cerebral enhancer that comes with the commisioned officer pack the skill train is still on the slow side for new players.
What I wouldn't mind seeing is the ability for a player who shows at least 60 days of activity to have the option of buying a single SP Booster pack for $99.99. With the pack they would get 2.5 Million SP's to alot to their character. SP's would only be usable toward x5 or lower skills.
The key would be to limit the use of them to newer players, and the option to only allow 1 per Account period.
