Well I definitely want to be able to move the camera around more. We are used to being able to look around and zoom in. I think that needs to carry though to incarna.
Also here's what it looks like to me. The live graphics look a little weird but the screen shot doesn't show it.

I really thought that the main point of all this is to bring a new layer of reality to the Universe of EVE and on top of interaction with things and people, the feeling of "real things happening". How cool is that when you can choose from having to go to your ship, board it, and undock to simply hit undock and voila, in space. Last time I checked, I cant "teleport into my car already on" just because I am late. It would be very nice to catch some unprepared fleet because some pilots are still "running" to their pods, or see from a balcony when a bunch of them run for their docks. That would be some "new layer of reality". Reminds me the guy asking CCP to make it that you could have a long range jump gate because he is tired of having to make 10 jumps several times. Really ? When you buy imported goods, someone in Europe would get a "jump gate" to America because fly there is "too long" ? Sad that as many other things, CCP makes EVE go to one direction, then patch it to another weeks later.

Eve has enough timesinks as it is... I don't see how running to and from your ship makes it any more immersive. I really hope that this interface, has a setting that removes any transitions. It's cool to see the pod sequence the FIRST time. Not every goddamn time i have to undock. And i really don't see how making the station interface 3rd person interactive makes it any better, other than wasting my time trying to navigate what previously only took 1 click.

I d'like to see the ship leaving the station (a bit like I saw in a Star Treck or Star Wars movie) and of course, an option to quit that animation for those who are in a rush! (or having this animation while the game loads you into space)
Thumbs up to what's been done to date. looks really good

+1
Click on floor to move character to destination. Walk-though was great. Large screen utility and UI was nice, liked the zoom-in feature. Easier access to the couch would be better, needs press button receive bacon option other than the drop down menu. Liked the ability to still sit in station and spin ship, UI to return to captains quarters like what was on the balcony to board ship would be cool. Liked the rework, retelling of the story in the tutorial. With another character standing next to "ours" some of "our" character movements seemed exaggerated.
Outstanding concept and presentation, thanks! |

yes yes yes - good vid - great ideas...
+ mouse activated moving pls. OPTIONAL cuts to vids for various activities are a must. Docking/undocking, repairing ship.. *ooh, look at the nifty repair drones fixing my burning ship* etc etc..
The screens could also be good for browser access - customized maps - jump planners - etc - although official CCP versions would rly be prefferable (A CCP version of JMLcalc would be nice)
AS long as i dont have to move too much to get core activities done, i will be happy - as im fat and lazy and am happy not move from the couch after a hard day of piloting. ( and ALL the current functions must still available without de-shipping and un-podding myself ).
Im sure, if done properly, CQ and WIS will help convert trial memberships and keep new players interested - which will be good for every pilot.

lets be clear, there is no singular "CCP" that has strengths and weaknesses. CCP is a collection of PEOPLE (as said earlier in the thread, largely coming from a strong back-end programming team) and therefore can be augmented and changed at any time by hiring or firing and probably changes alot more often than u think.
as an example, one would simply hire the thread-poster for his obvious strength in visual-representation of what his creative vision would be (which is really the meat of the job of creative design. I am a creative director in los angeles and i can tell you sir that there are many who cant even do what you did for this presentation. its great work and it fully shows your concept and expectation and thats what direction is.) and then CCP now has that person as an asset and change happens.
its why our game has changed so much in the past two years. new internal creative direction and leadership. the changing of people and their desires and direction moving forward. there is no CCP, hell its not even a single office! theres i think three or more offices worldwide, and let me tell ya, the GMs are contracted vendor companies that do GM for lots of games in their timezones out of the same building and dont even work for CCP so consider that!
I, for one, cant believe how much this game has changed in so short a time and looks to change drastically more. its like its impossible to stop your subscription! great pacing if you ask me!
change happens through sheer will and the posted concept is exactly a display of that an inspiration. thanks--Guido

This vid is great - but I didnt see anythin usefull for me in it. Sure, Ill be walking around in the first week after the patch, but then? There is no reason to walk around instead of flying around. So.. why should I be walking or sitting around in stations except of screensaverpurpouses?

Or the best solution would be to just let us stay in the damn pod using our current "virtual station interface" and leave us the option to watch the pod exit procedure and the vomiting of the pod goo out of our lungs, when we actually need to go "outside the fricken grid".
Though as there currently is no reason to unplug everybody would see this new client CCP has taken a couple of million euros and thousands of man-hours to program exactly 4 times(one for every racial station type). Great vid, i like the concepts you are trying (quite well) to put accross. I'm cautiously looking forward to this expansion.
Its been metioned that "there is no reason to leave my ship". Well at the moment this is true, CQ will not offer much (apart from a a better first impression to noobs), that we cant already do in the driver seat of our ships... but i hope it does in some way.
However, im sure that CQ is just the 1st step in a greater expansion for EVE's WIS. Maybe we will have to go to meetings with the CEO's of the DUST 514 teams?
I just hope the game isn't altered too far from being the spaceship game we all love and continue to play. It would be sad if EVE is turned into a game where we have 500+ ppl running around the corridors of jita 4 showing off our brand new faction sunglasses that we paid 50,ooo LP for... cos that would be lame. Though im sure that would be appealing to some.
a little bit off topic but.....POS's are the biggest disappointment in EVE. They may be functional - but they sure ain't immersive and fun.
How about expanding CQ = communal quaters aswell - about time CCP pimped out POS's hey? - maybe with a shared quaters for the corp/alliance. You might say its pointless, but it'd give you someting to do at the POS when your camped by reds, right?
-redesign POS's with a standard (depending on faction) shell of quaters, shield generator, fuel storage, pod docking area, etc.
-all other structures can be added/joined on to the POS - changing its form/appearance.
-upgrade shield generator with hardeners.
-bring guns/turrets inside the shield attatched to hardpoints on the POS you have to put on yourself, ie, buy/build a missile battery, fit guns to it.
-can only dock in pods unless you have a ship bay attatched (with limited room).
-can walk into turret control rooms to take control of your guns.
-manage components, fuel, research, manufaturing etc from console screens inside POS, aswell as access some of the other functions that will be available in CQ.
Just a thought. Maybe someting for another time.

Opt out. I don't want Incarna, I've never had any interest in wasting my time or my limited bandwidth on "walking in stations", and if the current Duality test is anywhere CLOSE to what the final release version is then Incarna is going to make Eve UNPLAYABLE for a lot of us that don't have MULTIMEGABIT huge bandwidth Internet connections due to it's massive increase in required graphics downloading.
I don't see Incarna going away - CCP has been pushing it for years - but I don't want it inflicted on the large number of us THAT DON'T WANT IT.

I also do not want to see Aura as a hologram: I don't want to look at what someone else thinks she looks like, I feel she's better left to the imagination (if at all, given she's a mere voice).
I would prefer the hologram, except everyone gets to customize what she looks like -- additional character creation for aura.

The first iteration is making sure incarna works without killing eve, and thus has no content. (which makes the decision not to make it optional even more puzzling)
So obviously for incarna to be successful we will need some content at some point.
however to be successful, as Incarna is ALL about immersion, the Incarna UI has to be completely embedded IN the worlds, and not simply have pretty buttons in the world that open up windows that cover it up. IF that is done then Incarna has a chance for success. If not then it will be unusable and immersion breaking.
This is the one thing I NEED in order to consider using CQ/rest of incarna. If the UI is not completely embedded in the world then, for me, it will have failed. __________________________________________________

Talonclark, Congratulations!! I loved your vision of the CQ,absolutely beautiful. Years ago I suggested this to eve, I am glad others did too. There was CQ in a game called wing command or er that was pretty cool for the day. Now to things you can add, how about a wall that displays the metals you have earned. I also hope CQ are unique to each ship class an faction, crosses fingers. How about a window with a snap view or several windows, that can be opened or closed. Might be kinda cool to be able to operate ship from there, when sitting on long mining ops or POS shoots. Well heck how about a slot machine :)and fish tank lol. How about MP3 player that allows you to play songs from your hard-drive. Just some Interactive stuff to pass sometime.
Anyways thanks for the good read. Cpt Buckshot

The game takes place 20,000 plus years in the future. Its not hard to imagine there being transporter rooms on ships like in Star Trek. I dont think it's in EVE's lore but Im sure they could have the technology to do so.

tl;dr: watch this Youtube-Video, and tell us what YOU absolutely need in Incarna/CQ to make it remotely useful to you
EvE Files: direct download
Really nice job, would be helpfull for all the "new kids on the block" , thought of "reposting" it in Features and Ideas?
:)
Well, lets be honest guys, we know Incarna is beeing worked on by CCP, if we want it or not. It will come, it will have certain features and benefits for us. BUT i'm worried. Why? because CCP has an interesting business model, put out a shell of an idea, then iterate on it later. Only that "iterating on it later" seems to always conflict with new features.
So, in light of that reality, lets tell CCP what we WANT in CQ to make it useful NOW, not later. What they should deliver right away, not in some iteration (that may come late or never).
I'm a visual person, so i made this quick mockup about what i think of the tutorial, what Aura could be, and what some functionality should be in CQ to make it worthwile for me personaly.
Now its your turn.
