Edited by: Viibl Triibl on 27/04/2011 16:06:43 Name two ships and their fits. You don't need to outline every module, but touch on the important stuff.
Call the fight. Argue your case. Post your own theory fight.
1: Rifter MSE, Scram, Gyro, Small Neut, AB
2: Rifter Web, Scram, AB, 400mm Plate, TE
FIGHT!
I say 400mm Rifter wins orbiting at 6500-7500m. Web + AB means absolute range control (and out of neut range), and the MSE pilot will spend 15 seconds realizing he needs to load Barrage (and loading it), which should be more than enough time for #2 to chew through the shield on overheat.

2. Bait scorp with a cyno, caps on standby
Outcome: Tears with an chance for an "OMG NERF CYNO" thread appearing. ...Then when you stopped to think about it. All you really said was Lalala. |

Fit doesn't really matter, everything depends on tactics, ammo, etc.
Losses to shield rifters usually occur due to "load fusion @ orbit 500" tactics. If you know how to handle shield, passive armor, active armor rifters - you may use any fit and win...
PS but shield one suits better for 0.0 and catching intys

Finally, an excuse to undock my Rifter with nothing but target painters. You've changed everything!

1. Mach(s) hugging a station (generally LS but if you are worried about getting your solo-own-mobile killed on the way any trade hub is fine) all the usual trimmings, loki booster, cloaked falcon etc..
2. Any combination of ships excluding machs at a ratio of 3:1
FIGHT
Machs engage at 45km, alpha the rapiers / curse / arazu or anything else with a hope of tackling them, and start killing the rest....
a) 2 is too heavy / ECM heavy so the machs MWD around a bit till they can dock, or light a cyno.
b) 2 lights a cyno, machs either mwd around a bit till they can dock, or light their own cyno and bump the hostile carriers off station
c) 2 is just right and the machs burn it up
Welcome to empire space.

If that's lowsec chances are "all the usual trimmings" is a carrier alt in station to rep mach and allow to toss mach into shipbay when it is baited to unfavourable odds. Carrier itself never aggresses and can dock at any time. Hurray to zero-loss pvp |
