(with thanks to Cake)
I'm currently not PVP'ing, and have only PVP'd against my will...and lost, of course. But I intend to at some point and I'm just trying to find out what others are doing to bankroll their habit.
So how do you? I'm interested to hear from small corp PVP'rs, or solo players, on what they do in Eve to afford their barrel roll lifestyle? And how difficult is it to maintain? PVP'ing is anything but cheap (unless you're the victor that is). So?

Noir pays their pilots. ;)
However, most of us still mission, or mine, or whatever else on the side in-between contracts to make extra income. Boring, but oh well...

I do exploration.
Low sec requires a bit of cloakie work. Null sec requires a bit of standings and having the proper tools out there. -------------------------------------------------- I am the Love Angel, Wedding Peach, and I am very displeased by your lack of love! |

Yeah, it seems like the bigger corps have a ship replacement program of some kind (or pay...even better). Which is nice, but what about the pilots in small corps/gangs?

I do exploration on the side. It pays pretty well if you know where to look and have decent skills.

Edited by: Limvala Adur on 27/04/2011 21:41:18 I live in a WH and from time to time attend PVE ops that bring me decent ISK. I'm not rich by all means, but I'm able to fully support my PVP life with only one character. That said, I do pvp a lot and loose often, but that's because I'm in the middle of the learning process and because I tend to use t1 cruisers/ rarely BCs and solo with them. It's pretty cheap and doesn't hurt the KB if you manage to kill something from time to time.
Also, it's great fun and quite important as a learning experience.

What kind of exploration specifically? For what type of sites?

Just normal exploration sites, radar site, combat sites and such.
I just go explore for a couple days and if I get lucky I will net a bil or two.
After that, I just don't farm isk until i go low.

It kind of depends on what PvP you do, in what ships and how often you lose them :)
I have a PvP alt that can fly everything up to battlecruisers. A fitted t1 frigate may cost 10 million, a t2 frigate up to 30 mil, a Hurricane say 50-60 mil, t2 cruiser stuff is more expensive.
My main is a mission runner and I can also invent and make my owns ships, modules and t2 ammo. Mission running earns like 25+ mil an hour. So it's not that hard to replace stuff.

But they are SOOOO boring *crys*
Tbh I never really play eve like I use to because everything has become one massive grind...
@op However I make my isk through various means, trading, exploration and missions sometimes but they pay **** isk and not even worth the time imo. |

I'm about to try wormholes myself. I haven't found much success keeping up with my losses via mission running. It's just too time consuming with a single account and doesn't produce enough isk. Having more skillpoints helps though. I'm definitely doing a lot better for myself (loosing less, that's for sure) than when I only had a few million sp.

Edited by: Blnukem 192 on 27/04/2011 22:48:16 Missions are common amongst most PVP'ers (at least all the ones I know), but the best way to cut down on the costs is to simply die less often.

I toil away at the meager offerings available to me in anomalies in Pure Blind, because while living in empire would be more lucrative it is also less fun. ________________

Tackle ship Ask for ransom If they give it to you, ask for more Destroy ship anyway Scramble pod Ask for ransom Kill it anyway Offer to sell their stuff back to them It's A Scam! Turns out they want to become a pvper just like you Invite them to your corp Get their stuff for "transportation" Scam them AGAIN! Gank them. Ransom them. Dishonor ransom. Ransom pod. Dishonor ransom.
It may be hard to manage the full list.
This is how your pvp encounters should go for maximum profitability.

I do missions when I'm making money with corpmates, but recently I've been focusing more on doing things while I'm out hunting that make isk.
So I'll do things like run radar sites when I'm in WHs and can't find anyone to shoot. I've also come up with a cunning plan involving putting gas harvesters on a bait ship when setting up an ambush... if no one's dumb enough to take the bait, eh, free fullerites. ---

Trade alt.
You may need to run some missions to build up seed money, but trading - especially station trading - has the highest ISK-to-time ratio of any profession in EVE. Spending ten minutes a day messing with buy and sell orders is enough to keep me stocked up on PLEX and Hurricanes.
(Oh yeah, that's step 2: don't PVP in billion-ISK ships.)
