I have two accounts. One is nearing the skills required to fly a Paladin and has excellent gunnery skills. The other already flys a Tengu that dishes out 700DPS (EFT). I don't play as intensely any moar so I was thinking about letting the Tengu account go offline and just concentrate on market/industry activities and missioning with the Paladin account.
Having not heard of or seen Paladins that often, could it perform just as well as a Tengu if I wanted to mission once in a while?
Additional (non-ship) question- How long could my un-subbed Tengu account last? Would I need to re-sub every so often?

Both are excellent mission runners, vs EM weak enemies, Paladin are deadly.
Also, accounts don't 'expire'. The account will always be available for you to re-sub, with all the isk and skills that you left it with. it just won't train while not paid for. -------------------

If you don't failfit and stick to EM/Therm weak targets, the Paladin will win hands down.

I fly the paladin a lot. It's not as efficient (overall) as the tengu, but it'll do if you aren't srs bsnss mission runner max isk/hr. Definitely do NOT use the paladin outside of amarr space though; horribly slow there.
And your other account will never be deleted, regardless of how long you are unsubbed.

Edited by: Zan Shiro on 03/05/2011 00:54:08 both fine ships for certain tasks. Tengu for kinetic enemies, pali for em.
Before you kill the tengu account try a dual box setup. You could have the tengu be the "tank". After webs dead, you cna pretty much orbit at 600 m/s and be fine. Use hml to wipe rooms faster. Leaving the pali fit to be more gank less tank. Also for fun missions like blockade and any gurista that come up, tengu gets damped and jammed, but you won't care much as the pali fires away lol.
If it gets you plex isk faster, keep it. If not, pick the better bread winner account and kill the other.

The Paladin is a wonderful ship - for enemies who are weak to EM damage. I think I own more Paladins than any other ship type. I primarily use them for ratting in Drone Space - at which task they have no equal.
I have also used them a lot for missioning in Amarr Space. They are an excellent choice for missions against Drones, Blood Raiders, Sanshas, or the Amarr Navy. The Nightmare is another excellent choice, unless you want to loot and salvage.
The Tengu is also a fine ship. I recently upgraded my Nighthawk pilot to a Tengu and I greatly prefer it to the Nighthawk. The Tengu is an insanely good PVE platform. I wish the other T3 ships could compete with it at all in PVE, but they really cannot.
If I had to choose between the two, I would probably stick with the occasional mission in Amarr space with the Paladin. Or I would run enough missions to keep both accounts active via PLEX and use them both. --- This doesn't even seem to be a regular case of rats fleeing the sinking ship. Seems more like the rats are on fire, the ship is on fire, and the sea is full of drunk Russians. - Jacob Etienne |

The nightmare can't salvage on the move?

Not as well as the Paladin. The ability to kill everything at 40km and salvage everything useful (or pull in Drone wrecks to loot) makes it much better than the Nightmare at this role. Lots of these NPCs stay out at 37km or more. Having to fly to the wrecks slows down this task for the Nightmare. --- This doesn't even seem to be a regular case of rats fleeing the sinking ship. Paladin is in general quite abit better for missioning in high-sec since looting and the occasional salvage is a bigger part of the isk-hour. If you want to mission in low-sec though, go for the tengu :)

I completely forgot for a bit there that marauders have a tractor range bonus. Disregard me.

So if characters never get deleted, theoretically my trial account that I created and abandoned in early 2007 is still around? I have no idea what my character's name is but could CCP find it? Or are abandoned trial accounts deleted at some point?
