Much, much work is to be done in Abudban. I believe that this system is a good place for the Disciples to be active. There is much greed here, but already I have also found resistance to greed. There is both cowardice and the bravery of restraint in this place. I believe I will learn much here.

Manwe, good work today. What you didn't share was how you picked up that frozen corpse, contacted the owner and offered to give it a decent burial or return it to him. I hope you hear back from him. If not, does anyone know what the burial rights of the Intaki are? Oh yes, Manwe also gave 500,000 ISK to a pilot who showed "resistance to greed." Nice touch Manwe. I agree with you that there is a ton of work to do in Abudban. We will hit it again tomorrow for a while then I'll leave you on your own.

There are burial traditions used for capsuleers' clones?
It sounds like you guys are doing some interesting work, by the way. Social experimentation and studying, that is. Unity Prevails. |

We gather that at least one capsuleer currently oversees a capsuleer cemetary. This may be the closest to a burial tradition across capsuleer society. However in this particular case, pilot Momaki may want to seek data pertaining to the rebirth ceremony among the intaki, and the actions taken with the vacated body at that time.

Capsuleers are so used to greed and force that it is beyond their comprehasion quite often that anyone would seek otherwise. I had a long conversation with a miner tonight after flipping his can. I think that sometimes pessimism is so deep that it will not dislodge. I had two capsuleers ask detailed questions about the Disciples and our work. This might be a fruitful system after all.

INDOCTRINATION With the majority of capsuleer pilots that I have encountered, I have discovered a shared indocrination. There is a common belief/ twisted morality/ shared philosophy that one must accumulate ISK. Those who do not are criticised for not "doing things the right way" in New Eden. What is the source of this universal indoctrination? I am not sure, but I hope to discover it through my work a s disciples. I have found strengthened purpose.
I am here to come between you and ISK you worship. I am here to expose your indoctrination. I am here to remind you of the lies you have believed. I am here to tell you that you worship a god whose name is "ISK".
I flipped the can of a recent clone just this morning. Her reaction was telling. There was sense of, "why are you interapting what every tells me I am supposed to be doing?" I ask, "Why do you believe that you are supoosed to accumulate large amounts of ISK?" Why do you believe that you should enjoy the destruction of others? Why do you beleive that the best kind of power and influence is achieved through greed and violence?
I am here to come between you and your gods and to try to force you to ask these questions.

What a remarkable day. I had an encounter with a very angry miner today. This is the first time I have seen a capsuleer border on whining. Usually, the violence just happens and things go on. This situation involved quite a bit of dialoge both before and after he destroyed me for flipping his unsecured can of minerals.
In our "talk" he finally tried to trump me with the old, "my kids are starving" angle. If I am any judge of character, he was lieing through his teeth. However, rather than bring that up, I just gave him 1 million Isk and told him it was for the kids.
This pilot was full of anger. As I come between pilots and what they hold dear, many things are revealed. Sadly, the greatest revelation is how empty their lives really are. There is so much work to do.

I noted Ston's activity last night. I appreciate the fact that as a Disciple I am autonomous. I also appreciate that Ston has said that he is open to criticism and critique. I saw some problems with what happened last night and it caused me to refine my MO just a bit.
I have decided to take the extra time and only take offensive weapons from the wrecks I loot. I have begun to communicate a more pacifistic focus in the system. I continue to flip unsecured cans, but quickly abandon them.
I see a need to make more room for the positive in people to emmerge. Perhaps a little more gentleness in Ston's provocations last night would have made for better results. Let's actually try to tip the balance toward a peaceful reaction. If potential for restraint is there, why not enable it when we can?
Please don't boot me from the corp for this.
Respectfully, Manwe

HOSTILITY Disciples of Ston uncover this on a daily basis. In our work, we regularly come between a person and their wealth. This generates any number of inner workings, motivations, and values. I encountered both ambivalence and hostility; ambivalence from the "victim" of theft and hostility from others.
When I released the contents of a flipped can this morning, I was told to, and I will paraphrase, "forcefully insert the contents into the rectal oriface of your mother." Things can get very interesting in this work. Peace

I worked only a short time today, but had an interesting encounter. I ran across what is often referred to as a Pilot vs Pilot trap today. A couple of yellow tagged cans were labelled free for the taking. Clone pilots use these bates to intentionally engage in violent acts against one another.
Disciples of Ston regularly investigate this behavior and seek to understnad it. I opened the first can and discovered a mix of weapons and mining equipment. I took the weapons into my cargo hold and ejected the mining equipment into another can, turned it blue and labelled it as free mining equipment.
About that time, in warps the pilot to kill me. He warp blocked and webified me. I told him I was unarmed and explained what I was doing. He let me go. Before our conversation ended, he remarked, 'I like your Corp."
I am not sure just what to make of this. You be the judge.

Sexual Humor Sexual humor is a frequent occurence in New Eden. Perhaps the Disciples of Ston should study this further. The Capsuleer is inundated by chemical replacements, neuro-stimulants, boosters, implants, etc. The clone bodies of the capsuleer flow with the pleasure giving chemicals that others derive from things like, sexuality, eating, exercise, etc. Is the prevalence of sexual humor because of the capsuleers lack of need for real sex? Has verbalization replaced the real thing? Something to explore.
Capsuleer Boredom Caps are often bored. They tire easily of mining, fighting, trading, etc. Strange, though, instead of confronting their boredom with deeper pursuits, there seems to be this futile pursuit of the same things that drive their boredom. The pursuit of wealth and violence create a tolerance that demands greater levels of stimulation that cannot be satisfied. The Disciples of Ston are here to confront this and maybe liberate a few from their futility.
Fast Can Flip As a Disciple of Ston, I am supposed to show humility at all times, but I just have to say that I did the fastest can flip I have ever done today. I flipped the can contents into a new can, titled it "Join the Disciples of Ston," abandoned it blue, and warped out before the pilot could target lock me. Too fun.

VIOLENCE AND GREED SPAWN FEAR AND DIMINISH HUMAN VALUE
Many interesting encounters today... One in particular, though, caught my attention. A lengthy conversation with a capsuleer revealed what we as Disciples of Ston have suspected and seen confirmed on many occasions. Among the violent and greedy, fear trumps values. Many capsuleers claim that they are following principles of justice when they kill a disciple for stealing. Let me tell you how this claim was tested and shown to be false.
After taking weapons from Mr. Cap (not his real name), He threatened to kill me and said that he would hunt me down. He claimed that as a thief, I should die. I said that I had been killed many times and would not shrink from his violence. We arranged a meeting place and I said that I would be there after making my rounds through the belts collecting weapons. When I was done, we met. He was angry, because apparently, the legal time for my destruction had past.
I asked if his weapons would stop working at that time. He answered that his ship was more important to him. I asked if he was afraid of losing his ship. He did not answer. To avoid taunting him, I did not pursue the question any more. However, it was plain that fear of loss trumped his expressed values of outrage over my theft. Was his sense of justice able to overcome his fear? No.
Fear of loss almost always tests our other values. Funny thing, even for the so called "immortal capsuleer" few are willing to die for values outside of their own greed and lust for violence and vengeance. We, as Disciples of Ston, are not immune to this either. It is a weakness in all humans. That is why we do not accumulate anything that we might fear to lose. Our vow of poverty enables us to carry out our business with the least encumbrance of fear.

Today's Topic: Vengeance, Justice, and Forgiveness. I enjoyed an opportunity for conversation with two thoughtful pilots on the subject of vengence vs justice and the function of forgiveness. They had some interesting and poignant thoughts. It seemed that there was agreement that taking revenge always eclipses forgiveness while a focus on justice allows for the tempering influence of forgiveness.
For my people, the Minmatar, I think this is a vital distinction. What will we be known as? A vengeful people or a people of justice. As a Disciple of Ston, my MO is very different from other Minmatar. I seek non-violent ways to confront attitudes and actions in my small sphere of influence.
Thanks to the pilots who were a part of today's conversation. The Disciples of Ston bid you peace.

Mythical earth literature tells a story of a king named Aragorn. This king once said, "One who cannot cast away a treasure in time of need is in fetters." Some capsuleers are in fetters and others are not. Those in fetters show their lack of peace usually through violence. Those not in fetters usually react with wit or humor. So it goes here in Abudban.
Then there is this Brutor pilot...I have stolen from this person frequently, but yet this individual, in typical Brutor fasion, refuses to utter a word. However in untypical Brutor fashion, there has been no violent reaction. I have seen this person's ship and weapons and she is quite capable of turning me into space dust. Hmmm? What might be the reason?

Again...? That was the question asked of me today. There seems to be a perception that the work of the Disciples of Ston cannot possibly continue in the economic environment of greed and violence present in New Eden. My response? We have much work to do and we will keep doing it. The Disciples of Ston bid you peace

Non-violence is utterly despised by some in this place we call New Eden. A bit of a mis-nomer if you ask me. East of Eden would be a better name perhaps. Today I found the level of spite, anger, and hatred that Ston warned me to expect in this work. When I asked permission from the Disciples to hone my MO in the area of non-violence and pacifism, I immediately received responses that were mostly dismissive.
Today, I met a capsuleer who had somewhat stronger feelings. He identified me with an ancient cultural term, "tosser" or "idiot," or "loathesome." What do we do with "loathesome idiots?" We destroy them, of course. We liquidate them. We certainly do not tolerate any loathesome idiot who would promote peace, non-violence, non-greed, etc.
The "rules" of this universe are to gain what you can by whatever means possible. The Disciples of Ston are here to challenge that assumption. That is our "folly." That is what makes us so very "loathesome."

All bets are off it seems, a t least for awhile. I was supposed to be sent into Amarrian space for a short assignment, but I think I'll hang tight here in Abudban until I hear whether or not we will still have a corp by the end of the week. It all reminds me of how incredibly flawed we ALL are. Words are dangerous and are hard to take back. When we are tired or angry or hungry, words come too easy. Stay tuned, I guess.

I am so glad I made the decision to go on in to Amarr space and begin a work there. I deeply appreciate the Khanid pilot who took the time to converse with me. I found our conversation refreshing.
There is a membrane between Minmatar spirituality and Amarr theology that, at places is so thin that one can see through it. At other places it is thick and opaque. But, even at its thinnest places where light passes through seemingly unhindered, it still possesses the strength of an unbreakable force, forged by history, war, culture, hatred, and unforgiveness.
I see now the logic of sending a Minmatar mystic as a disciple of Ston in to Amarr space. I am under no delusion that I will break the membrane. But, perhaps I can stretch it even a bit more.
I found it interesting the the only Amarrian I was able to talk to, I did not steal from. There were an awful lot of Gallente in the system today. I look forward to the time I will spend here.

What started out as a very quiet morning here in Madirmilire, turned out to be very interesting on four fronts. First, I had an interaction with a brutor pilot that resulted in me receiving 20 million ISK from him. So, now I have a 20 million ISK grant to give away to any pilot interested in promoting peace and goodwill in New eden. Just contact me if you want the ISK.
Second, I had a good conversation with a Gallentean who seemed genuinely interested in the work of the Disciples of Ston.
Third, I was disappointed that no Amarrians would interact this morning. Must keep trying, though.
Fourth, I see Ston has apologized. Edaine, it is in your court now, You gonna forgive, or no?

Spoke with a member of the Ni-Kunni today. I was saddened by the short but revealing conversation. She was part of a corporate mining operation with two Acura and one Caldarian. SInce she was the only member of the empire, I chose to try to speak to her. I asked her, as a lower cast of assimilated people, if was good with that. Her answer surprised me and sounded more Caldari than Ni-Kunni or even Amarrian.
She said that she was fine with it, because she could only go up. I found that naive considering the Amarr keep the Ni-Kunni quite "in place" as a people.
I am preparing my final report to the Disciples of Ston on my experience here in Madirmilire. Needless to say, we need to do more exploring before beginning a work in the Amarr empire.
Course is set back to Abudban. There is much more work there.

REGARDING Madirmilire, this will a sort of final report. As promising as the system first seemed, I am not sure it is the best system to settle in for an extended work. Amarr space is very large and we need to take our time and explore to find the right system.
I found more Gallente and Caldari there than Amarrian. While I had two excellent interactions, I do not see the kind of Amarrian population density that we are looking for. Perhaps it is just a matter of exploration to find the right place. (end of report) I am profoundly sad. I ran in to woman last night here in Abudban. I have never seen anyone try so hard to hide behind a veil of cheap sexuality and bravado in all my journeys. As the conversation continued and her veil became more and more transparent, her expressions became more and more unnatural and pretensed.
I remember something Ston said about impatience that a Disciple can experience when a subject pilot seems to be on the cusp of self-discovery. I felt that last night. In the end though, I discontinued the questions. This person, sadly, was not prepared even for one second to lower the falsehood of what she was projecting.
What comfort do people derive from convincing themselves that they are hopelessly violent or hopelessly promiscuous?
What I left her in the form of a challenge, I will leave any reader of this as a challenge as well:
I challenge you to shed a cleansing tear of regret that initiates change that leads to no regret. Do you have the strength for that?

I thought it might be prudent, before heading back out into the belts of Abudban, to reflect on my observations today so far.
What happens when a few simple questions begin to crack the thin veneer of a person's projected personality? What happens when the inner pain we try to escape in the pretensed life of the capsuleer, begins to leak out?
The capsuleer is used to firing missles, energy weapons, cannons, etc to defend and destroy. What are the weapons used to try and stop the waterfall of reality that started to leak out this afternoon in Abudban? Sexuality, profanity, insult. These three are consistently part of the arsenal of the self-conscious pilot under the attack of self-knowledge. Many stop short of going to extremes, because their pain is normal and they can cope with it fairly well. However, what happens when one gets desperate?
Flee? No, that would be perceived as defeat. Strike back as hard as you can? Yes. Draw upon every resource of insult, vulgarity and personal denigration. I ran across such a man today. His method was to infer in not so delicate terms that my father was a homosexual pedophile rapist. Many capsuleers are quite witty and intelligent. Many times I am out witted verbally and have to concede so. However, this situation was quite sad. It was the vulgar version of the historic idiom, "your mother wears army boots." All other reasonable come backs were exhausted, so how can I get this guy off my back?
What in this man's heart hurt so bad? I had not stole from him, so there was not any sense of righteous indignation. Perhaps it was my refusal to answer in kind. (Thanks Ston for teaching us how to do this). One pilot recently told me that Abudban is a peaceful system. I am here to say that the inner wars of this system are vast. These pilots are in pain.
Ston, you may have to come and help out here some time. I hope we can help one or two.

Today's work involved some rather absurd topics of conversation. There are times, when one has to banter a bit to find out what makes people tick. Let others make fun of you and call you a few names and sometimes, they talk to you for a while. Coffee enemas... yep... the subject came up. If they think you are a weirdo, you may find out a thing or two about them as well.
Today, I didn't really discover anything deep, but was reminded that caps do have an earthy sense of humor.

Everyone is still talking about the violence and destruction going on in Abudban.
In response to Edaine looking for hub locations with reasonable office rent, I went over to neighboring Rens. We are going to open an office there. We have good adjacent systems. I also noticed that Rens is really a hive of villainy, and violence. Violence is a sport there. The work of the Disciples is needed in Rens; n particular the work of violence absorption. I first saw Ston do this in Piekura when he discovered a pilot vs pilot trap. He sprung the trap and kept absorbing the violence until the people left. "Not here, not now" was his comment.
Rens needs the message of non-violence more than most places I have seen. This, together with reasonable rent at the Sisters of Eve Bureau, makes Rens a good hub location for us. I think I can spend time working both systems and other adjacent systems as well.
