Violence makes us intellectually shallow. As I listen to the conversations among pilots whose sense of human value has been diminished by endless violence, I find and increasing level of triviality. Added to this is an inability to engage in anything significant beyond the technical aspects of weapons and the strategies, particulars, and results of violent acts.
This morning's work was a vain attempt to move a group of pilots to a different mental level. Nothing doing...
I do not despair, though. I have seen it happen and believe it will happen again as the Disciples put forth effort.
I will be requesting permission from the Disciples to train infomorph psych so that I can rapidly move from trade hub to trade hub where pilot vs pilot confrontations are common. This has become an area of increasing focus in my work. If the Disciples are willing to make the investment in my training and trust me to rejoin the Disciples after I have obtained the clones, I will proceed.
Edaine, thanks for 1. moving these comments from Ston's log to mine where they ought to have been, and 2. for approving my request for further study.

Since I train infrequently, I am not used to the process of skillbook neural transcription and the peculiar experience it happens to be. Infomorph Psychology, in particular, is a skill that requires the recipient to become "adept" at brain/consciousness dissociation. It is kind of like being pod killed repeatedly days on end, hour after hour, as you train the skill. Clone jumping is no different than being pod killed, minus the violence.
As I train, I am studying the mapped systems and trying to identify good placements for five clones that I will be able to install once the training is complete. |

I have acquired four clones through the services of Estel Arador. Thank you, and I will be giving a hardy endorsement on the tread. I have rejoined the Disciples for a few days while I train for my fifth jump clone. I will eventually be using jump clones to do anti-violence work in Gallente and Amarr space as well as in Caldari and Minmatar space.
Speaking of Amarr space... One clone was installed in the Amarr system in the Emperor Services Station. I took a short rest in one of the quarters provided in the station. No, non-capsuleer former slave would ever be able to afford or even be allowed such accommodations. But, because I am a capsuleer, such things were overlooked. This is just the kind of double standard that fuels the ongoing injustices that are systematized in all of New Eden.
Go ahead and destroy the capsuleer's ship; he'll escape in his pod or at the worst, reintegrate in a new clone body. But wait, what about the hundreds of non-clone human beings that were slaughtered as part of the crew? Ah, who cares? Right? Not the capsuleers playing war as if it were a game, not Concord in its self-justified need to control the violence of the capsuleer.. Who will advocate for the non-capsuleer?
The Disciples of Ston are experiencing an awakening of conscience in this area and will be seeking ways to advocate for these humans who come under such horrendous violence. |

I just read Ston's log for today. I am pleased to report that on my travels to install jump clones, i managed to retrieve two clone bodies from the cold of space. They are in storage in Amarr. I will get the vital information about the owners to Ston as he continues to contact owners. Here is what I hope: that the capsuleer owners won't be afraid to take their old bodies, give them the proper rites and grieve the loss.
Now a tough thing I must say to a friend: Ston, you are taking a couple things too seriously. You ought probably to stop arguing with other clones on this forum. You will not change their minds and they will not change yours. However, the arguments will distract you from what is more important. It sounds like you are reconnecting with that from your latest log. Good.
Second, I am a former slave, and I am not as upset over what the com admins did as you are. You seem to feel that you need to defend everyone against every injustice in the whole universe. Many former slaves have learned not to be so sensitive to off-hand remarks here and there. It doesn't help us Minmatar to further the stereotype of the brooding mistreated. Let it go. We can work on the hearts of people individual by individual. Doesn't that work better? Isn't that the way of the Disciples?
I appreciate you Ston. Don't burn out!

On the way back to Rens from dropping off corpses in Korama, I took the fast route. Since I was traveling in my egg and not a ship, I was not too concerned about attack. However, As I warped away from the gate in Rancer, I noted some outlaws camping at the gate, picking off ships passing through. Now, what I really noticed was three corpses on my biomass scanner. I thought, maybe they won't care if an unarmed reaper comes back and pick those corpses up. Dumb thought and add one more corpse. They podded me. This actually cut my journey in half.
I began to reflect a while later on how little I cared about the loss of that corporeal connection. One additional step away from full humanity... There are risks in studying infomorph psychology. There are risks in clone jumping, which is like intentional pod suicide without the destruction of the clone.
Have we really thought this through?

Quietness is a good descriptor of The new Eden system and most of the systems enroute. I ran in to only one gate camp on the way. I decided to fly a Minmatar shuttle on this trip because of its speed and ability to warp quickly. On this occasion, I had no desire to risk being shot at or pod killed. I arrived at New Eden and have been enjoying the first extended solitude in a long, long time. I may stay here for some time.

Sorry Ston, its not where have I been, but "what" have I been. I have been asleep and in the process, undergone two significant events only to be unconscious and hence unable to explain what has happened. As you know, I have been exploring and meditating in New Eden. Sometimes "meditation" can become a euphemism for "napping." Such is my case.
The first time I fell asleep at the at the controls, I was cruising straight for the EVE gate. When I woke up, I was in close proximity to the violent wormhole in Promised Land. Hmm... Is there an entrance wormhole in New Eden that exists through the violent wormhole in Promised Land? Did I fly through it while asleep?
So I wanted to test the theory, so I tried it again. Guess what? I fell asleep again. This time, when I woke up, I had been pod killed by Tech 9 industries. Not a big deal, but I would really like to know where I was when they killed me. Was I in New Eden or in Promised Land?
I am going to keep at this until I find some answers. If anyone can help me out, please let me know.

New Eden is a sort of low security monastery. Apart from being destroyed and pod killed, my experience here has been and continues to be peaceful. Other pilots who come here seem to be different than those we encounter other places. I should say, those who come here seeking something other than violence. This place begs inquiry without promising answers. It is alive with a sort of hide and seek spirit, if you will. I have yet to solve the question of how I ended up in Promised Land next to the violent wormhole. I tried to duplicate the course I was on before I fell asleep. Alas, I have not found the answer.
I do wish the blood raiders in this system were more hospitable. I would like to able to talk to them about their presence in a system with so little human occupancy. Why blood raiders where there is no blood? What do they know about this system?
Why do I feel so sleepy here? I cannot seem to stay awake. Is this part of the strangeness of this system? I feel compelled to stay at least a while longer.

In order to reach the vast distances that I wanted to reach in New Eden, much time is required simply navigating a straight course. A shuttle, such as the one I am piloting can and is almost instantly destroyed if attacked. This has, indeed, happened again.
I decided to leave one of my jump clones in the region for quicker access while I try to complete my explorations.
To the brave, brave, brave warriors who think that destroying an unarmed shuttle will impress your friends, understand that DSTON is poor but can afford many shuttles for this project. The delays do irritate me somewhat, but having the jump clone in station with a pile of shuttles will help with that.
I regret that I was asleep when mysteriously transported from New Eden to the violent wormhole in Promised Land. I would very much like to repeat that event awake.

A single ecliptic with all lock points on one side of its plain... This is New Eden. This arrangement makes it difficult to set up a bookmark grid for surveying the system.
I managed to make it back to New Eden this evening and hope to continue my search without getting blown to space dust in the mean time. I have noted our namesake, Ston pursuing the discussion of the alienation of the capsuleer from mortal humanity. I'm not so sure. I have gotten literally jittery from all my traveling through low sec space. I've done a bit of teeth gritting along the way. Perhaps that is my infomorph telling my clone body to be careful. I feel very human, if you know what I mean.
I am beginning to feel as if New Eden itself has played the proverbial "practical joke on the sleeping guy." Time will tell, but how much time?

Hey, I saw you in the Promised Land system!
At any rate, have you considered using something a bit less vulnerable than shuttle? A Vigil-class frigate is still cheap yet provides much more protection in that very few ships will be able to catch it (or more specifically, by the time any would-be attackers probe you down you will hopefully be far from the warp-in coordinates their probes provide them). ------- I spy with my third eye crimson clouds beyond the horizon... |

Mr. Jaiga, Sincere thanks for the suggestion. As a matter of fact, in my former way of life, I would have done just that, but the Disciples of Ston use only unarmed vessels. Our usual vessel is the rookie vessel, but I have been granted a dispensation to use the shuttle for extra speed. We are non profit and spend next to nothing on our work.
You are the first pilot who has actually made a suggestion that would help. I do appreciate it and I will bring it to Ston and Edaine as a possibility for further exploration.

In that case, as you are Minmatar you have access to the quite speedy Reaper-class rookie ship. Equipped with a MAPC (micro auxiliar power core) it is more than capable of fitting a 1MN micro-warp drive and reaching speeds much faster than a shuttle. The increased signature radius might make you more vulnerable to being probed down, however, so which choice of ship is entirely up to your own reasoning.

This log entry will appear in both Manwe Todako's log and Ston Momaki's log and is part of a joint research effort.
While in New Eden, I began to discover an odd phenomenon related to what happens to perception in very close proximity to the system sun. I contacted Ston to have him confirm the data back in Piekura where there are multiple orbital plains and where navigation is a bit easier.
A standard warp drive will place you within a few hundred thousand km of a stellar object. However, one can quickly reach the center of a stellar object by bookmarking coordinates and then bookmarking as you pass through the stellar center.
We fully expected that the warp drive distance limitation was a designed safety feature and to get closer, would result in ship destruction and pod destruction. However, we had heard of strange experiences occurring as pilots approached suns ever closer. We wanted to test it. I used the New Eden sun and Ston used the Piekura sun. We were both able to make observations within the sun corona without damage to our ships.
How is this possible? Were we experiencing visual anomalies due to heat and gravity? We would like to have some other pilots help us with this project and report their findings here. We have coordinates that we are willing to share for both the New Eden sun and the Piekura sun which should place any pilot within the corona. Contact Manwe Todako for coordinates in New Eden and Ston Momaki for Piekura.
If anyone has a reasonable explanation for what seems impossible, please share it.

I actually conducted the same experiment in the Josekorn system a little over a year ago. The only explanation I can give is that the same mechanism that allows your ship to pass through solid objects (namely, planets and stations) must be at play and keeping your ship from interacting with the star. This of course must be a feature of the warp drive, for the aforementioned effect only appears while the warp drive is engaged. Since I do not fully understand the mechanics of the warp drive, I shall delve no further. ------- I spy with my third eye crimson clouds beyond the horizon... |

Please don't give up the inquiry. We also made the preliminary conclusion that is was a warp drive effect. We decided to test the theory by taking a great risk. We set up lockable way points with the sun in between them. As we passed through the sun, we set a way point coordinate in the interior of the sun. Now the dangerous part...We returned to that new way point and came to full stop. Our ships were not destroyed. This was done in both New Eden and Piekura.
This is what confounds us. We need acute scientific minds to explain what seems impossible. One thought that has come to me is that the warp field persists in the sun's interior as some sort of protective bubble and sustains itself with the sun's energy.

That's probably the most reasonable hypothesis. I'll not spoil the surprise, but have you tried to go to the very center of the star yet? What happens when you do further suggests everything that goes on within a star to be a warp field effect. |

I am duplicating this post on Manwe's thread because of the helpful comments from a couple of pilots. We wanted you to see these images. Dear Pilot physicists, I will attempt, with my limited technical ability to provide access to two camera drone images. If successful, this is what you will see: Image 1 is from inside the Piekura sun and seems to suggest what Manwe called a persistent warp bubble inside the sun surrounding the ship. The second image is what is disturbing and begs explanation. Image two is a camera drone from outside the sun while I was inside the sun. I was shocked. It appears as if the sun core and the corona are separate. If you look closely, you will see the box representing my ship is very close to the core. Could a warp field do this? Also, when the ship is moving, the corona image jumps erratically Image one image two
The Disciples of Ston concern themselves with all that concerns the capsuleer. This begs explanation. Anyone who has ideas, we want to know them. The Disciples of Ston bid you peace.

The first image is likely as you described it: an intact warp field protecting the ship from the star's deadly radiation and heat.
As for the second image, we must question how the camera drone went so far away from your ship so quickly. My hypothesis is that during the time in which the camera drone leaves close proximity to your ship (and thus its warp field) the camera drone experiences a huge amount of interference. Of course in order to even make it out of the star to obtain such a picture the camera drone itself must have a warp field (which is apparent anyway as camera drones follow ships at warp), but the curvature of spacetime from the camera drone's warp field must be much greater thus producing the odd image. That or, keep in mind, as capsuleers the image we see is generated by the link between our minds and pods and in principle the image could be a glitch. After all it is unlikely that the pods' engineers ever intended a capsuleer to get so close to the core of a star.
((At the end of the day the entire thing is a glitch from game mechanics; it would be nice if CCP explained or otherwise corrected this)) ------- I spy with my third eye crimson clouds beyond the horizon... |

JOINT STATEMENT OF THE DISCIPLES OF STON
Extraordinary! This is the best word to describe what has happened this morning. First, thanks to Manwe for getting us started on this research. Second, thanks to Edaine for taking time and expense to assist us to the concluding event of today. Edaine took a specially equipped Minmatar frigate with a sustained speed of 3131 M/S and traveled from the coordinates I provided straight on into the stellar core. Upon reaching the core, there was a massive release of energy that accelerated his ship almost instantly to well over 300,000,000 M/S to a distance out to 900,000 from the stellar mass. The camera drone image below shows the quickest reaction Edaine could muster as his ship was blown away from the stellar mass. The velocity reading at that point was 325,748,224 M/S. Wow! You will need to load the image and view the larger shot to see the velocity meter number.
hitting the stellar core
We feel that this is an experience to share with all capsuleers and not keep secret. We want to provide the last bookmark recorded before hitting the core. From this waypoint one can fly towards the core. Do this manually. If you try to use the "approach" setting on your Nav it will show error. Instead choose a point right next to the stellar core and head to it. Depending on the speed of your ship, in a short time you will hit the core and be impacted by an enormous release of energy. This is nothing like warping. The acceleration ought to kill you, but it doesn't. It ought to destroy your ship, but it doesn't.
Because we are relative new at space exploration as capsuleers,we are not sure of the most efficient way to get this stellar waypoint out to the community of pilots who may want to test this experience for themselves. Any ideas? We used the Piekura star. Anyone who wants the coordinate can contact us and we will get it to you somehow.
The Disciples of Ston bid you the excitement of discovery. |

Ok, so here we go. As we know, the warp drive operates on the principle of warping spacetime in such a way so as to "push" your ship at speeds effectively faster than the speed of light (though to say your ship is moving in any local sense isn't true). Now we also postulate that the warp field remains intact as your ship dives into a star, which makes sense for the following reasons:
1) Your ship isn't burnt to a crips as it normally would 2) Your ship does not accelerate towards the star due to gravitational force
The second point is of great importance for my explanation. Becuase your ship isn't accelerating towards the star due to gravity it must be the case that a warp field is enveloping your ship, and furthermore the warp field must be bending spacetime in such a way so as the prevent your ship from accelerating due to gravity. So as your ship approaches the core, by the inverse-square law of gravitation we know that the gravitational force between the ship and the star increases, so it stands to reason that the magnitude of the warp field also increases to negate gravitational force. However, as you approach the exact center of a star (the core) gravitational force sharply decreases because the mass of the star surrounds you evenly in all directions. However, the warp field that was keeping your ship from accelerating due to gravity is also still present, and furthermore it was effectively "pushing" your ship away from the star's center of mass (again, the core). So once your ship arrives at the core, there is no gravitational force acting on your ship yet a warp field is trying to "push" your ship away from the star and it would seem that it succeeds in doing so, for your ship is thrown far away at great speeds! ------- I spy with my third eye crimson clouds beyond the horizon... |

Our analysis is quite different than that of Rek's but we deeply appreciate all input from any who theorize possible explanations of the phenomena at the stellar core. We do not want our scientific discussion to create the assumption that we are not also interested in other explanations. Much in this universe begs examination. We have yet to truly explain or prove anything. All our talk is guess work at best. Others have thoughts we would like to hear. We also think that more pilots need to experience what happens at the core. Sometimes experience defies explanation and becomes its own explanation. If our current ideas lose there sense, we abandon them and move on to others. For the time being we are studying the event as the astro-physical interaction of anti-singularity and gravity warp. This model explains some and possibly all of the phenomena. But we do not presume so at this time. We are trying to remain canonical in the sense that we are respecting the technical descriptions provided in the scientific articles. They provide a base of accepted assumptions. While we are glad to hear many different explanations, we will weigh descriptions and underlying assumption against canon.
Scientific articles
A side note, since I am the most studied of the Disciples of Ston, I am requesting the Disciples to train me in the use of the excellent tool that Edaine Numenor has now donated to the Disciples. I would like to continue to test our theories in different gravity and density environments. The "ship" provides an excellent platform to efficiently do this. Only Edaine is trained to use it, but he has no desire to pursue these studies. I await the decision of my peers.

The ἀληθεία is an unarmed research vessel equipped for high sub-warp speed to enable it to efficiently reach objects and locations quickly. It also enters warp quickly so it is more difficult to webify.
I have received permission from the Disciples to train the necessary skills to pilot her. I envision, that in the future, the Disciples could modify many former ships of war into unarmed research vessels equipped for study and the advancement of knowledge. We may want to consider cloak technology and some non-damage based defensive measures in our vessels if ever we want to have an effective presence in low, null, and sub null space.
The Disciples will have to adjust their philosophy on training for such a vision to take place. I feel optimistic and humbled that the Disciples would allow me not just to be a part of the vision, but also to shape it.
I will begin training in a couple days time. Edaine has transfered the necessary funds to obtain the skillbooks I need. Thanks, Edaine for the donation of this vessel.

In reference to the fine work of Dr. Alain Embrosius Topher in the scientific article faster than light travel I would like to post a few comments. First, I appreciate the need to write for the layman; for the capsuleer who does not care to delve into the mind numbing concepts of quantum physics but just wants a sort of word picture of what is happening. However, I believe that the capsuleer is able to understand far more than some would believe. I think more explanation is needed regarding the basics of what we call "warp drive."
First, warp "drive" is a misnomer. Second, faster than light "speed." is a misnomer. Third, "warp" is not a misnomer. Let's start with warp.
Space is what a "warp drive" changes. "Warp Generator" would be a much better term, but pilots like to think of a "warp drive;" perhaps its more romantic. Any object of great mass, such as a planet, star, galaxy, black hole, quasar, etc. warps space in such a way that space is bent and compressed toward the mass of the object. Where space is exceedingly warped in this way such as with a black hole, matter and energy are pulled into the warp or gravity well of the object. Such phenomena become, mathematically speaking, a singularity (a mathematical point of infinite mass and energy). That is a lot of space in a tiny volume.
The second kind of warp is what our "warp generators" generate. It is basically the opposite of a singularity, so will call it an anti-singularity. Dr. Alain Embrosius Topher called it a "depleted vacuum, that is, vacuum as found in space but completely stripped of all energy." Think, for a moment what he is saying. Space, far from empty, is full of stuff, namely, energy. Radiation in the form of light, and heat fill space. All space in this universe contains energy. When Dr. Topher refers to stripping all the energy from space, he is really referring to warping space in this second way. A singularity is the concentration of space while an anti-singularity is the displacement of space. Space being the medium through which all energy and matter moves, is the impediment to so called "FTL" travel.
A simple question, "if there is no space between two coordinates, how long does it take to travel between them?" Answer, not long at all. An anti-singularity warp generator creates a sustained field around a ship devoid of space. Outside of that field, space dimension is normal. But, as the anti-singularity field moves into normal space it become a sort of portable space displacer. Here is where warp "drive" is a misnomer. The warp generator does not drive the ship forward, regular propulsion systems do that. As the anti-singularity is maintained, the ship passes through a virtually spaceless dimension toward its intended destination. It is not instantaneous travel, because the size of the field is limited and displaces space as the vessel moves forward. You see this as the visible "warp" tunnel or the visible light energy concentrated on the perimeter of the anti-singularity field. Here is where "faster than light" is a misnomer. Outside of the warp field, light has to transverse normal space. Inside the warp field, light transverses nearly zero space. It thus "appears" faster. The key is to remember the word "warp." What are we warping? Space.
Why does an anti-sigularity generator work and singularity generator does not work? Singularities devastate matter, compressing it into ever greater density. That's hard on a ship or a body. However, the anti-singularity field or bubble around a ship does not change the fact that the ship itself still occupies its own normal space. That cannot be over-emphasized. The ship is unaffected by the anti-singularity which surrounds it. This would be impossible with a generated singularity.
My thanks to Dr Topher.
