Originally by: Fumbleface I didn't promise anything..I simply provided a link for the OP as a reference to a thread, which I personally felt contained some pretty strong arguments in my opinion to a similar kind of situation.
àand when asked what those arguments were, you became awfully evasive and have yet to explain what you were referring to.
Quote: Why? You've seen my two quotes with Aeronwen Carys in this thread, so why are you acting so naive about it?
Yes. They didn't contain any arguments for this change. One was about how you couldn't afford to use the character bazaar, one was a tirade against Aeronwen's supposed lack of reasons (which was false, btw) and yet another reiteration about how you had provided ample reasons for the change (which was false as well).
Quote: being able to re-distribute my characters SP easily means everything in this game to me.
Then you should be able to come up with some pretty darn convincing arguments for why it's needed; what problems it will solve; what merits (and flaws) such a system would have; and why the drawbacks that have been brought up don't matter.
Quote: It would be great having the awesome freedom to completely tear down a characters existing skill tree, and build him/her back up to specialize in something completely different if I chose to at this later stage in my game.
It would also have some pretty significant (some would say horrific) effects on the game. But fine, this is an argument for (finally!). The problem is that it falls into the category of "it would be nice if CCP added 30 trillion ISK to my wallet" ù it doesn't really provide any reason why it's a good thing (an almost universal trait of "it would be nice ifà" arguments). Basically, why would it be great? And why can't you use the already awesome freedom of specialising in something completely different ù the game already allows you to do this, after all.
Quote: As for other pilots, I don't care if some guy/gal with half my sp wants to specialize in whatever it doesn't bother me
It's just that, just because you don't care doesn't mean it's not an issue. What you're suggesting effectively removes attributes as a useful mechanic (which is bad in and of itself) but only for those who pay (which turns an already bad idea into something utterly horrific). It also encourages cookie-cutter gameplay, FOTM:ing, and removes a lot of variety. It removes the fundamental features of planning and choice.
Quote: So you can either accept it or GTFO!
I'm afraid I can't do either of those because the argument you've finally provided is so flimsyà ùùù ôIf you're not willing to fight for what you have in ≡v≡à you don't deserve it, and you will lose it.ö ù Karath Piki |

Sell your character on the char bazar, buy a new one just like the first with a bit less total SP but far better allocation?

They don't really have to put any effort into it since there's no real argument for ità
àand, of course, since that thread is about something drastically different than what the OP is talking about, had any arguments been presented, they wouldn't really have transferred to this topic anyway.
Tippia this has to be said why the feck do you constantly troll these forums with your miserable negative attitude? Get lost your opinions mean jack. No one cares what you think...seriously they don't..you sir are an idiot...

So I take it you agree with me, seeing as how you couldn't present any kind of argument and had to resort to ad hominems.

I am not impressed with you Tipia after reading your reply and I'm disappointed not just with you, but with myself as well. My initial impression of you was "this poster is just going to troll you and not provide anything relevant to this topic so just avoid this idiot" this may explain why I've seemed, as you put it "awfully evasive." You also give yourself too much credit by adding "awfully" there btw, just saying though. It's interesting that you refer to me as being "awfully elusive" because as any random person with a rational head will see from reading in this thread, you've done pretty well at being "elusive" yourself! You've provided zero arguments or anything else that may be relevant to the topic even though you've been asked too, instead you've just sat back and let everyone else put forth their arguments, which makes me kind of think that possibly.. you could probably be an idiot that's not capable of doing so in the first place! This may also explain why you troll, because you lack the intellect to do anything else. To cap this off, I think that you are nothing more an egotistical little sh*tstain in these forums who desperately craves attention to possibly make up for the failure(s)that your life has turned out to be. Even your criticisms have no real weight or substance to them and thus just worthless editorializing in my opinion. I recommend that you step away from the keyboard a while, maybe dump that monstrous ashtray of butt's that's been accumulating for month's now and go upstairs have shave, that 18 month old beard has got to be nasty by now! After that, go out for a nice long walk and work a little on that twinkie gut. And if your actually a woman? Well same thing.

I could see being allowed to shuffle maybe 10% of your skill points, up to a maximum every quarter or so for a fee.

False.
Quote: Instead you've just sat back and let everyone else put forth their arguments,
False as well ù I've been asking for arguments in favour of this change so that there is something to respond to beyond the points that have already been made against it (by me and others).
Quote: which makes me kind of think that..you could possibly be an idiot that may not capable of doing so in the first place.
So I take it that, not only have you not read anything I've said in this thread, but you also ù amazingly ù manage to agree with what I said, seeing as how you can't provide any counter-arguments and have to go for the ad hominem instead.
Thank you for your support.
Oh, and how about those arguments? Do you have any? Hmm? No? ùùù ôIf you're not willing to fight for what you have in ≡v≡à you don't deserve it, and you will lose it.ö ù Karath Piki |

The same old argument: "this not World of Warcraft here!" There is a difference between the possibility to remap one time in a year and the possibility to switch between two skill trees and to modify your skill trees for 3 gold pieces.
Another beautiful argument: " It is a realistic game!" Yes it is so realistic to train an exact time to have skill or to remap your neural characteristic to train more or less rapidly. Well a medical remap of yor neural connectivity and a reload of your systemic skills? It is a game that manipulate technologies that does not exist. You can do Everything.
Before saying NO. Just think about what it would change in the game. Not a lot of things. In fact only players who sells characters would be impacted. Corporations could have more specialized characters... I don't know even if it would be the case.

While it might be interesting from Wolfric's perspective to see what would happen if pilots could "reset" any/all of their SP, here is what would actually happen: one day, we'd all be flying Falcons. Then when Falcons get nerfed, we'll all be flying nano Machariels. Then when Machariels get nerfed we'll all be flying Nightmares.
And all the time, we'd not be enjoying it because we want to feel special. Flying the same ship as everyone else does not make us feel special. It might contribute to our sense of belonging (like the drake/tengu/zealot fleets in nullsec), but it doesn't make us feel special.
There are no skills that are "useless". Sure, in your peer group you might frown on people who have mining as a skill - but being able to conform to your peer group isn't a good reason to justify encouraging everyone to fly FOTM ships.
If you really, desperately need to conform to your peer group's idea of "ideal skill distribution", head over to the Character Bazaar and buy a character who is trained appropriately. In the meantime, keep using your "unattractive" and "inefficient" skills to make your character more versatile.
Mining, Gallente ships, railguns, drones - they're all part of the great cycle of nerf and buff. You'll be abandoning one skillset today for 2 PLEX, then training it right back in six months time when the stuff you abandoned becomes useful again.
The SP refunds given by CCP apply to everybody and are done for free. The refunds occur because they want to remove certain skills from the game, not because they want to let people fly FOTM ships.
Just train up the skills you're missing. Spend the 500M ISK on skillbooks instead of chasing dreams.

Originally by: Fumbleface Ummm..yeah, unfortunately your going to get a lot of trolls posting with completely worthless comments in regards to this topic and the ones that do put the effort forth, really seem to fall short of a convincing argument against.
This, because it's a troll topic to begin with.
And you know it, and OP knows it, and every single person has seen 3141592 threads about it with 300 posts each, some of them blue, detailing how it would defeat the core concept of the game.
Since literally every single Eve player (including all the bots and people that don't read the forums) has been swamped in this pointless trolling for years, we no longer feel the need to respond particularly respectfully to more ****ing trolls who can't even come up with an original topic to ****ing troll about. ---
