Originally by: Elkarion I'm very concerned about this new Missionsystem. In the past it was necessary to move to another system if you'd reach the next level - away from your lv3 Q18 - to the next system with a lv4 Q -12 or somewhat. After that to a lv4 Q12 and at least find the system with your lv4 Q18-20. this was part of the game, and had some pretty influences to roleplay and gamedynamics...
Now it not necessary to move anymore. Okay, missionhubs like didoxie get nerfed now - but on the other hand you'd stolen a lot of the games dynamics now. You made the game again a bit smarter, easier to lern/play, but so you'd opened the door once again a bit more for this kind of gamer that wasn't simply surviveable in EVE five years ago - the wow-kids. I remember when I startet years ago - without German Client (yes I'm German), without Simplifying your EVE, there was no place for the 08/15-WOW-Kid - cause EVE was just too difficult, too technological, too serious and all in all to "adult".
Please CCP - don't make EVE to a "open for all" Game that even the dumbest kid could handle - cause there is the danger that you could loose some of the older ones that prefer a game without getting flamed by kids in the age of their own ones ;)
But beside this - thanks a lot for EVE. It's the worlds best game - and still the worlds best game-atmosphere. May it last forever!
This fails to recognize the difference between interesting complexity and needless complexity. The agent qualities fell pretty reliably into the "needless complexity" category. It didn't add any extra level of thinking or effort into the gameplay. Being "smarter" was not rewarded by the mechanics. It was simply another layer of tedium added because players would have to load up an external website in order to make sense of the data they were given.
Now, if agents rewards scaled with your relative relations to their political faction vs hostile factions, that could be considered interesting complexity. It would be a mechanic that even a newbie could understand (I get rewarded for my loyalty to this faction), while requiring more thought behind which agents you want to accept missions from, and whether betraying your former employer is really worth the potential loss in reputation.

- Information on a pilot's standings towards NPC corporations is no longer visible from 'Show Info'. You now see the standings information between you and the other pilot and the factions you each belong to.

I'm so glad that its just the onboard scanner function that got changed and not the Dscan.
There where rumors going around that the Dscan range was going to be increased which would have made it impossible to drop probes while remaining undetected in alot of wh systems.

Edited by: Riapsed Alvilla on 16/05/2011 14:11:08 I spent a lot of time working to get lvl 4's in some areas when I used to run a lot of missions. It's nice that I had access to some of these higher up missions in certain areas that other people did not. It was nice to get my security status back up by running level 4's. An option I had that some others did not. It also felt rewarding to work your way to the top. Does this also effect faction warfare missions? Any new person can just join and start running lvl 4's or am I misunderstanding something? If so the market for navy Dominix's, Geddons, Typhoons, and Scorpions is about to crash. What about your ad "EVE IS HARD" hopefully this isn't the first of many dumbed down changes.

Just hope this will spill over eventually into the API and Killmails - bit disappointed not with this release

So far everything sounds very interesting and sounds like it is going to make a lot of things better overall. to the people asking about the new skills and if they are rank 1 and how the reimbursement is going to take place, before asking stupid questions that have already been answered, read the friggin patch notes. the answers to ALL of your questions like that are in there, just click the link and actually do some reading.
Now, the one gripe i have with CCP Navigator is, bro, proof read and spell check your posting, to include the posting title before you hit submit. Currently your title reads "EVE Online: Incursion 1.5 to de deployed on Thursday, May 19". The part i want you to notice is the "de deployed", which means to undo or remove said deployment. Perhaps to avoid further confusion from ppl who just skim the headlines and titles it should be changed and have the "de" removed so that instead of it reading that the Incursion 1.5 patch is being removed, that it is in fact being applied. Just a thought

It will be the amount of SP that you invested in the skills that are being removed... Just as they did with Learning skills. So if you have multiple characters on your account with some of these skills, each will be reimbursed the amount they had invested.

Seriously?
*sigh* alright then... only if you trained a now obsolete skill on a character, and only as many SP as you trained in that skill. SP are refunded to the character, not the account.

As usual CCP takes 1 step forward and 2 steps back. It is good they are fixing the blueprints and giving miners dedicated agents in highsec. But those of us who run combat missions and actually put some effort into picking a high paying agent from a good corp in a low pop system are getting the shaft. Dummies who congregate to mission runner hubs instead of researching better LP sources get what they deserve (ninja looters, suicide gankers, lag, poor isk/lp). Eve is one of the few MMOs where intelligent, mature players thrive because stuff isn't dumbed down and black and white. CCP could have fixed the mission distribution problems without this Barney-style solution. But that would require effort-something they are expecting less and less from their players. |

Originally by: Borun Tal And on the skills replacements: if I already have them trained, I understand I'll get those points back for redistribution. However, I need to BUY the new versions? WTF?
No, you'll get the skill books in your station. The downside to this is if you have High Tech, Military, and Political skills, you'll end up with three copies of the same Security Connections book from the sound of things. Check the blog.

so you are making lvl 4 missions in highsec more rewarding whilst making it a lot easier for people to find you in the 1 sanctum per region in 0.0
do you want people out in 0.0 or all in highsec?
oh wait i get it... you want people to fund their 0.0 activities with highsec alts - making CCP double the subscription money.

Ummm... the patch notes seem pretty clear and self-explanatory on this:
"Ships with jumpdrives are now unable to use jump bridges with the exception of ships belonging to the Black Ops ship category."
Soooo.... if a ship doesn't have a jumpdrive, it'll still be able to use jump bridges; if a ship does have a jumpdrive, and isn't a Black Ops ship, it won't be able to use jump bridges.

Except Jump Freighters and Black Ops are the only two ship classes that can both jump and use gates. The notes say BOs will be able to use bridges. Were JFs forgotten or purposely removed from the list? Will they still be able to use gates or are they removing that ability too?

Why? I used to use this information to find war targets location. One can find agents with good standings towards people and through this locate the system where they run missions.
Why are you removing this information?
This is one of the dumbest changes every, as I'm sure every 0.0 corp uses this information not only for recruiting purposes but also to identify bots and such.

"Ships with jumpdrives are now unable to use jump bridges with the exception of ships belonging to the Black Ops ship category."
Totally was ignored the fact that capital ships cannot use the gates. This means all carriers that are in a Cyno Jammed system better stay there. After Thursday you will have to take the Jammer off line to get anything in or out of the main system. This is also going to make more problems when the down to one Jump Bridge in system starts. I agree with the one in a system, but if Carriers, Jump Freighters, and all the others cannot use them. Logistics will now have a hard as time getting things out and about. I hope you have your Titan Bridges up and running. Pray no none sees that Cyno Jammer go down.

I never really thought of the agent thing as really problematic or complex, but with these changes I do see how unnecessarily messy it is. I didn't expect it, but I'm thrilled with this change. Does this mean all Level 1 agents will be available to people with negative standings? ------------------------------- The fox chases for her meal, but the rabbit runs for her life. |
