Yes! I've been kicking myself for bothering to even train those connections skills years back before I realized how boring missioning is! Now I get that SP back! Rock on!

Quote: Information on a pilot's standings towards NPC corporations is no longer visible from 'Show Info'. You now see the standings information between you and the other pilot and the factions you each belong to.
Am I reading this correctly?
If my standings with certain NPC corps are no longer visible to others, then what does that mean for corps who recruit based on the recruit's standings toward said NPC corp or faction?
There are quite a few out there who use that method and might not take this change lightly. It's a matter of security to them. "To secure ourselves against defeat lies in our own hands, but the opportunity of defeating the enemy is provided by the enemy himself." |

This. Perhaps the mission system needed to be revamped, but please don't oversimplify it like that, by flattening Agent Divisions and removing any remaining subtleties in terms of Agent Quality differences.
I think the best of EVE is the rich experience (call it complexity, if you want) it tends to offer in most -if not all- of its aspects. This way, I feel you are effectively taking away most of that richness for mission runners. Is this intended? A preview of the path EVE development in general will adopt from now on, in order to make the game easier to grasp and open to a wider player audience? (Honest question, not much of a pun intended).
Mission running is an important part of the game for many of us, but it looks like it will become a plain and standardized activity after this patch. What are your plans for it? Will it regain part of its "charm" in the near future?

What about the missing DED complexes in low-sec and High-sec? I thought that some of them were planned for this patch as well (based on the previous BFF-blog).

Yeah this is the only thing in the patch notes that baffles me... I'm trying to think of "why" they suddenly decided to change this.

So you can't figure out where somebody missions at a glance. So you can't gather tons of intel super easily on somebody or their corp.

Well it's not only that, the main reason people look at player profiles is to check standings, that and the corp they belong to and that corp's standings, then alliance standings after that. The only things worth looking besides standings is whatever is put in the Bio (if there is one). This means the market hubs will also disappear, meaning more work for the market players among us. Aw shucks.

Well that's stupid. If my standings are high with the Caldari Navy and someone tries to hunt my missions based on this then they'll have to look all over Caldari controlled space.

If they see you have a standing of 9.00+ with certain agents (currently possible) they know exactly where you mission, making it very easy to track you down and set up an ambush. With this information no longer public they would have to use a locator agent while you are online to effectively stalk you.

So what?!
It's not like you can't avoid whoever it is who's hunting you. And if I'm a war target to someone and he finds my missions using those methods then I say that's perfect war strategy and adds to the risk vs reward factor of EVE.
Even if it's a can flipper, you can just refuse to play into his bull**** and not shoot him. And as for ninja salvagers, I just destroy the wrecks and deny him a prize. Edited by: dssouleater on 16/05/2011 16:53:04 blueprint changes good , the only good change here
mission changes .. are you guys on drugs?? seriously? a lot of us worked our way up to use better agents . this is not WoW . nice i trained up them skillbooks military conenctions etc to level v , way to waste my time there and my isk to buy them books! more dumbing down and silly changes . its no point getting rid of things like this to benefit the new guys . some of us have played for over 5 years and like the fact we have more and better skills than the new guys... dont keep removing this from us.
jump bridge changes seem illogical . so carebears whine and you guys listen judging by these ludicrious changes , another pointless patch for the kids from WoW . npc standings not shown?? wtf??? made the botters easier to spot and the carebears easier to find in war .... oh more carebear whinage here too?
im dissappointed yet again ccp , some of us play this game for how complex it is and how much pvp they can get but its dumbed down so much that carebears can roam free . whats gonna happen in the next patch/nerf/dumb down patch?
getting rather annoyed with this sillyness

Again, risk vs reward. It's what drives this game.

So making it so you have to use a player's limited API key to check their standings for recruitment, and making it so you actually have to do some work to track down your war targets (like using a locator agent maybe? how hard is that?!) is... dumbing down? lol!

This change goes both ways...
You cannot see where your war target can or cant go, as in has bad standings with this faction thus will be shot by navy in highsec. Or which locator agent your war target can or cant use to locate near where you are.
Both parties lost "intel" here.

Best option is to have standings configurable as public, private, and personal blues. Recruitment officers should be able to view NPC standings of anyone with an application submitted, and probably anyone in the corp too.
I would favor keeping faction standings public.

If you believe that "there are 21 random divisions with an undocumented spread between mission types" is a major part of EVE's "complexity", you have a lot to learn still :-)
