Hey Im a pretty new new new eve player i would like some opionion/advice.
I just got randomly a Drake and a Arbitrator.. now im planning to run Amarr L2 missions. Should i go fitting out the drake or arbi? Any simple/ cost-effective builds for those ships?

Both will do - Drake is a straight basic ship you can use in almost all Missions up to L3, with maxed skills even L4. In the beginning you will love the extra tank on a BC. Just be sure to use assault missile launcher for L2 Missions (light missiles as most targest will be frigs and destroyer).
Mediumslot: 2x primary 1x secondary damage hardener active, 2 Large Shield Extender and one 10mn AB (or additional tank). Lowslot: Power Diagnostics and BCU - maybe a DCU. How much ballistic Controll you can use depends on your skills. Rigs: Shield Field Purger.
5x hobgoblins II
You should start to switch Tank and Energygrid to Tech II Modules asap. Max skills in those. Weapon Upgrades and Adv. Weapon Upgrades as well as all Missileskills to at least lvl4.
L2 Missions will be plain booring. As soon as your missileskills and Supportskills are at 4+ fit heavy missile launcher and proceed to L3.

you might be better off in a caracal just because it gives a range bonus to the light missiles.
but the arbitrator is a fantastic ship, bit skill intensive for a new player though although you will be very glad to have those skills a bit later.

they both benefit from decent drone skills. Drake should breeze through anything with a proper fit, even if that fit is all tech 1 with no rigs.

I vote arby... no matter your race you'll eventually need decent drone skills, and with drones 5, scout drone 5, heavy drone 4, and interfacing 4 and a few of the other support skills you should be in a good spot for running most anything aside from l4's in a relatively short time.
Then instead of the drake, get rid of it and get yourself a harbinger. ~Fox |

1. Pshaw! Real men do L2's in a Drake with nothing but a small shield extender and a small shield booster; no hardeners. LADAR ECCM only. 2. Why not just make it 4xBCU II? Since we're using Battlecruisers for L2 missions, just go full overkill. 3. Rigs? For an L2 in a BC?
Advice: Caracal. Make it so.
