How about a long cycle time for cloaking devices but have it shut off after every cycle. That would let anyone at the computer to stay cloaked almost constantly but stop AFK cloakers

You haven't explained why you think we need to get rid of afk cloakers. Hint: all the reasons you have ever read are logically flawed. ---- I belong to Silent Ninja (Hopefully that should cover it). |

and macroing is against the EULA and is a bannable offense. They want to macro cloak i say let them, and if they do and CCP can prove they do they will be banned. At least that would put AFK cloaking in the category where it belong, its a tactic that does not require the player to be at the computer while they directly affect the game and should be a bannable offense.

Considering the macro would have to push a single button at a set time, I'm not sure how CCP would catch that, since you're basically wanting the human player to do the exact same thing.

Another repeat of an idea that is not new and only truly affect the active cloaker.
Originally by: Allestin Villimar Also, if your bookmarks are too far out, they can and will ban you for it.

they've done a pretty good job at taking down macro miners, I'm sure they would be able to figure out how to catch macro afkers. But more importantly, it would make AFK cloaking an actual risk which it isn't now.

So you want to push an idea, that promotes the use of macros?

What risk are you really facing from someone who is afk?

Exactly this.
If the person if AFK, you have no reason to worry.

The OP needs to shut up already and grow a pair. An AFK person cloaked in your system is absolutely NO threat to you.
Your previous argument in some other thread about them having the ability to light a cyno and have a point on their ship just goes to show that you aren't actually talking about AFK cloaks, but rather that you don't want to be caught by someone in a cloak because you think that for some reason it is unfair. Either learn to protect yourself or get out. The biomass recycler will allow you to stop playing Eve. --------------------------------------------- I am a big fan of knowing what you are talking about prior to making asinine suggestions or comments. |

I have no problem with someone being able to attack me, but the ability to sit in a system and threaten to attack for an infinite amount of time without being able to be caught is another story. It allows you to freely attack others at your choosing without having to worry about being caught at any point.
The only reason you don't like the idea is that you want to continue to have the ability to attack other and disrupt the gameplay of others without taking any risk yourself.
And what makes you think this isn't my main

You're not in an alliance, you're in a tiny corp, you have zero kills and zero losses, yet you whine about nullsec as if you live there.

I can already freely attack whomever I wish, disrupt their gameplay, and have little to no risk to myself BECAUSE I CAN FLY ALL THE COVOPS SHIPS.
Just because you are too much of a coward to leave station when there is a hostile in the system does not mean that other people are also scared. It just means that you should consider going back to the safety of a CONCORD backed system, instead of complaining about not being able to leave because some guy is afk-cloaked in your system.
If he's afk, you have nothing to fear. If he's not afk, you are going to die. Either way, the cloaked guy wins and you lose. --------------------------------------------- I am a big fan of knowing what you are talking about prior to making asinine suggestions or comments. |

You're failing to see why they are using the AFK tactic. If is wasn't for local, there would be no issue.

You're in a three man corp, so you're not going to be renting much. Your corp doesn't show up on eve kill or dotlan, so ince 2008, no-one in said corp has done anything, at all.
30 seconds on eve search tells me you have two accounts, so I can only assume this is your empire missionrunning alt. Post with the character who is actually bothered by cloakers.

I have no problem with cloaking the way it is.
The cycle timer could get to be a problem if you are trying to get through a gate camp and it suddenly ends cycle. Cycles are artifical and not needed.

I see what you're trying to do.. but AFK cloakers are not attacking you.. the threat are the non afk cloakers.
Causing cloaks to be less effective for getting through gate camps is certainly not the goal of my idea. Thats why i suggested that they have a long cycle time. something like 20 min, or even an hour or something.
AFK cloakers ARE the problem. non afk cloakers do cause me a problem but at least they are also having to sit around doing nothing, AFK cloakers get all the benefit of being cloaked in the system without having to do any work for it.

AFK cloaking is a solution to the all seeing eye called local. Looks like you can't rely on it as much, when someone is AFK. Sounds fair.

Oh look, a third person who uses the excuse "I'm ridding the world of bots" to cover up the fact that they want to keep sitting in other peoples systems keeping them from earning isk while they are probably botting in a system of their own all while actually playing WOW in the other room. I love that the only real argument against nerfing afk cloaking so far is "oh ya, well you must be a botter"

First, you don't have "hundreds of millions if not billions of isk."
Second, someone who is afk is not affecting your ability to play Eve Online.
Third, would you just stop already? You are a ****ing moron. Of the highest order. --------------------------------------------- I am a big fan of knowing what you are talking about prior to making asinine suggestions or comments. |
