I'm not incredibly new to Eve, but I am to carriers, such in particular, the wyvern. My question is: is it at all possible to fly one of these on your own, or is it designed in such a way that it requires a minimum of 2 ships to move between star stems? I understand capital ship class ships are too large to use the stargate network, but I'm still trying to learn the physics of jump drives. I assume they aren't more like Battlestar Galactica style FTL drives, but more like stargates with a ship making the exit point with a Cyno?
For RP purposes I was hoping to be able to fly around the entire eve universe exploring and charting as much as possible on my own, but I'm assuming I would only be able to do this in a cruiser or black ops or such. Help please?

No, the supercapitals are not intended to be ever flown solo, and doing so will get you killed before you can say 'cyno'. They are usually alliance or corporate assets and they are used as support ships in large fights. ---

Well that stinks. Ias actually hoping to partake on some form of a stellar cartography/exploration route thru space and see how long it would last. Just wish there was a leave ship built for that.

Yes, Supers can be flown solo. No, you should not expect people to LET you fly them solo.
Supers are Ideal for killin' jump freighters and the like on the POS, due to their e-war freedom and stuff... But doing so will get you noticed, and traps will be set.
Also, wyvern sucks.

No intention to use for war purposes. Just trying to explore. You can fly solo but can you jump solo? What about reg carriers?

No capital ships can jump on their own at all. You'd need a 2nd account with a cyno to jump.
If you want to fly around eve unimpeded the best would be an Interdiction Nullified, Covert Ops fit, Warp core stabilized T3.

Why do you need to explore in a supercarrier exactly?

Soloing in a ship that cannot dock or use gates? I guess you could lock down a system and explore it until you get nailed down by a hictor, a cyno goes up, and you see a not so friendly fleet melt away your supercarrier. But hey if you got the isk then by all means go for it. There have been people who have fit billions of isk in ships that were failfit and lost every single one of them. _____ Where am I? Who are you? and where is my horse? |
