Hey now, we are the Council of STELLAR management. If we preside over all the stars I'm pretty sure that means the planets are our jurisdiction too! Twisted

Whatever makes this game harder CCP will do. If having dust players in CSM is harder they will do that. If having a seperate CSM for dust is harder, CCP will do that.
If promising the dust players a CSM but never delivering a CSM is harder, CCP will do that.
Who knows what the hardest option will be . I will not be voting in the CSM election, so you need to go vote to make up for me. |

Does raise an interesting question though.
While everyone can argue the toss about which eve players represent who (don't do that here please) even though the DUST players are in the same universe it is a separate game.
Some points to consider:
- Should DUST and EVE be equally represented on the CSM? (e.g 3 candidates per game?)
- Should DUST and EVE players get to vote for each other candidates?
- Should DUST have its own CSM?
- What happens if the player is both a DUST and an EVE player if there are two CSM's and/or specific positions?

It's a very interesting question. I think if DUST players were to be involved in the process as candidates, I'd think they should compete for space just like WH, Faction Warfare, and every other niche play style.
Even more interesting than whether they could run is whether DUST players (or more accurately, their accounts) should be able to VOTE. OK if DUST is free-to-play, EVE is not. It would be unwise to automatically give each DUST account 1 vote since it would open an enormous metagaming loophole. So what's the solution? It'd probably be 1 vote per 1 PLEX since in EVE you could create an account, PLEX it, and vote with it at present.
In any case, I dont think it's a question to be tackled right away. The DUST community will need to time to form, stabilize, and mature before the EVE community and CCP could get a good idea of how they could/should/would/would want to impact the CSM process. Goo points, however I suppose my counter argument would be the sooner that everyone starts discussing the "broad" goals (for example stating that there will be a combined DUST and EVE CSM) then the CSM themselves can consider the impacts etc.
I think it's something that hasn't really hit people at the moment as DUST is almost seen as an expansion to EVE by a lot of people, however when it finishes forming its own playerbase we might find they are very different to EVE players. Plus how comfortable are we with potentially having DUST players comment on EVE developments, and how do DUSt players feel about us commenting on DUST designs?

Fine, rather then "how WILL Dust players feel" etc.
Fact is despite the connection they are two different games and will probably have two different player types.
The more i think about it the more I think the sensible option is two separate CSMs and CCP just takes account of both views before making changes to one of the games. |

Cripes, you two have the same jacket on and it's confusing.
Personally, if DUST is successful, I'd imagine CCP will find a way for the players to represent their interests in a similar way to the CSM. I don't know if that means it would be a DUST CSM or it would combine with the current one. Neither does CCP at this point. CSM 7 Chairman My Blog - Where I say stuff Follow Seleene on Twitter! |

Dust players don't count. They don't get a vote. They are bad people. |

Given CCP's "EVE and Dust are One" theme...
I'm sure that the Dust Bunnies will get a CSM representative or 2 on the CSM. I'm sure they'll have a separate voting process because if you have one million Dust bunnies playing they'll obviously skew the whole representation line simply based on sheer volume, but it would be one CSM - it keeps it simple so they dont need another liason, another shareholder, etc, etc.

To be totally honest the problem I think will arrive from EVE players resenting DUST players having a say in their game, especially if the wants/needs of DUST and EVE conflict.
Example:
Prices for DUST items have sky-rocketed, bringing in loads of money to capsuleers. Do the CSM ask CCP to help artifically lower the prices or leave them where they are? The former hurts capsuleers the latters makes DUST worse to play.
Conflict is the lifeblood of a business imo as it allows you to determine priorities. If that was a board room and I was the chair I would let them throw all their ideas and arguments into the ring, duke it out a bit and then pick whichever one I thought was best. Problem is if CCP listen to the wrong part of the CSM they can send one of their games into TroubleGäó as even if the decision is a good long term one it can cause a shortfall in player numbers.
Personally I think EVE players will be the tetchy ones rather then DUST players, this game does attract a certain type of person.... |
