This is more likely a failing of the diplomatic staff in regards to the royal protocol.
And yeah, 'the beast' incident was absolutely brilliant. All those gadgets and it gets its belly stuck on a security gate. How's that for an analogy of your stereotypical American?

In the 1970's there was tight banking and finance regulation but President Carter started the ball rolling in deregulation. President Clinton did more deregulation. Bush did exacerbate the situation by tax cuts for the rich from the right wing fantasy that this would produce trickle down economics to the masses. There was a competition between London and New York and other finance centers in offering the most lax environments to do casino capitalism.
I will start to have faith in western capitalism when politicians mention financial crises centuries ago and the need for investment bankers to be doctors of capitalism. But the political system in the USA is broken with the left and right living in totally different moral and intellectual universes. Regulation alone is not the answer. It can stop things from going wrong but it can also stop things from going right.

Originally by: Caleidascope To all the Bush haters. President Bush has left the office on January 19, 2009. Mr. Obama took office on January 20, 2009. It is 2011 now. You simpletons should update your calendars, you got more than 2 years missing.
You are aware that the trillions of dollars the US now owes to China was done on Bush's watch, right? And because of that the US is no longer the land of the free, but a debtor nation, right?
Yeah, Bush Jr really cared about the future of the US. He was co-owner of oil-companies with Bin-Laden. And all of this isn't even hidden, or the realm of fantasy or conspiracy, it's reality.
Its reality only in your alternate universe my friend - maybe its your Crazy Pills? While Bush was no fiscal conservative, the current administration is making him look positively Reaganesque.
And why all the hate for Oil? Its the engine of our economy and President Bush understood how vital it is to America's needs. __________________________________________________ Name a shrub after me; something prickly and hard to eradicate. |
