Edited by: Desirsar on 28/05/2011 19:12:23 Edited by: Desirsar on 28/05/2011 19:10:24 I post this because the replies by people ripping their hair out in a bout of HWFO will amuse me, and also because I'm curious if anyone else has ever had the thought. If even one person likes it, I'd want to hear changes they would make to the suggestion as well.
If an interdiction field is put up that intersects the jump radius around a gate (or wormhole?), the ship creating the field is forcibly jumped through the gate. If a mobile warp disruptor is placed with its field intersecting the jump radius around a gate (or wormhole?), the unit is simply destroyed.
To compensate for the loss of "bubble mechanics for people bad at geometry or just plain lazy people", bubbles should pull ships off course even if they aren't directly on line to the bubble. If they are directly on line, they get sucked to the center of the field as usual. If the field is within a cone created by some fixed angle from the point of origin (longer warps mean more danger from bubbles), the ship is pulled off course in an increasing amount based on how close the angle is to the line their course would make. Obviously, this would make the use of safe spots to bypass bubble camps somewhat less effective.
Changes to flight path would compound for multiple bubbles. This means, primarily in larger systems, you could place bubbles slightly off the path between two distant gates such that their course would bend slightly three or four times, then place a final bubble at the end of their altered angle that would pull them a great distance off of their intended target. (Assuming the bubbles were placed correctly and the altered path did not intersect the field, stopping the warp entirely.)
A UI mechanic to aid the placement of these bubbles would be handy.

Camping gates is lazy. Catch people in the middle of nowhere instead. A network of bubbles well placed in a system would effectively cut off all travel.

Show me on the doll where the bubble camp you jumped into touched you.

easy to exploit. HIC pilots would need only to activate their bubbles and they could jump trough a gate from as far as 20 k away

As if I fly without scouts that can run them (or, more frequently, I am the scout that runs them.)

Ooh, didn't think of that. Put offline the module on the ship instead?

Or leave it how it is and don't try to fix things that aren't broken.
