Break out the old games :-)
Master of Orion! Duke Nukem series! Commander Keen! Populous! Rise of the Triad! [insert favourite old game here]
Forget your Eve woes, set a long training skill, and get in some old school gaming fun.

For added forewarning when these things will likely happen, keep a lookout for lines in the patch notes that meantion CCP doing significant changes to the old code framework. It needs to be done and it always ends up being a good thing in the long run, but it also has a large chance of breaking the game and making it a lot less playable in the short term.

Indeed. It pays to always have a backup plan for your gaming time if it's an online game you're relying on. Patch notes and dev blogs can hint at what's to come, but sometimes the unexpected occurs and your MMO is either unavailable or unplayable to varying degrees.
Rather than stress over it and rant and rave in the forums, my advice is to see patch time as an opportunity to enjoy something different. I know I can't be the only MMOer with a giant stack of unplayed games in other genres, heh. Not to mention all the old computer and console games from decades past.
Speaking of old games - don't forget NES, SNES, SMS, Genesis, etc emulators. How long since you played a game of Mappy or Crystalis? -- Frog blast the vent core! |

I'd rather spin my active ship in a wire-frame through an android app. You know, the one from CQ.
Also change skills, check Eve-mail, and maybe even the market with it. And maybe even listen to streaming audio of ambient station sounds when I do.
Just a thought.

I did when it went on sale. Two words: Meh.

Get used to it.
The 'rolling' development cycle means that eve will be broken in some form forever now. rather than just every six months.

I fall back on WinUAE and hundreds of Amiga ROMs when EVE bites the pillow. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I have nearly all the games from Amiga, Atari St, BBC Micro, Commodore 64, Commodore C16+4 ( yes I used to own one ), Spectrum, Dragon etc etc. Takes up a stack of Dvd's and HD space. Nice to use emulators for the old days. Elite never gets old, nor does Ultima series espaecially Underworld. I'm a retro chick. I wont even go into what I have in the PC side of things. Guess what I am saying is it good to take a break sometimes. Remember where all this came from and relive the glory days.

For me it¦s back to D&D Online if I get the fantasy itch. But ST Online looks the most promising for now. Curious how their revamped ground combat and various space ship enhancements are going along.

Nothing like a good game of Megaball :-)
Tonight I'm actually playing through Wolfenstein 3D again on hardest mode - the simple pleasures of a bygone FPS age :-) Earlier it was Balloon Fight (NES). -- Frog blast the vent core! |

Right now Im thoroughly enjoying Vampire The Masquerade: Bloodlines as a Malkavian girl. It's just, magnificent!
Wish they made more games like that one, the story is SUPERB and if you focus on patching it with one of the community patches game shines, tho still very good despite a couple bugs with vanilla 1.2 version.
Also when I want my retrofix I still enjoy most if not all of the old Space Quest games.
Wish they re-released the Quest for Glory ones :*(
Man I miss the Old Sierra games so much. Phantasmagoria tho not that great of a game had an awesome soundtrack and in that line another forgotten gem of the past was DARK SEED, up to this day the crib with ectoplasm floating around and a baby crying shocks me :)
For some reason, todays game are just an FPS environment based permutation. I kinda miss the games where your avatar walked fully in the background, none of this 3rd person FPS craze of today.
Games like DOTT <day of the tentacle> or The Dig or GRIM FANDANGO show that not all games need the modern UI to make excellent games. Wish there was more variation in design these days.
