Just thinking we might be able to help CCP fix this by providing information about planet types and what we're extracting so they can see if there's a pattern. I guess it can't hurt, can it!
Planet Type: Plasma Extracting: Suspended Plasma
Bug report:
Go to view Extractor Control Unit / Survey during extraction.
Extractor heads show very low yield, between 3 and 14 in areas from experience that are showing as high yield in the scanner.
Stop extraction and "wiggle" the heads even a handful of pixels on screen and the yield goes up to 96 - 110.
This is the head information:
1 96.14 2 105.31 3 100.71 4 100.85 5 100.49 6 109.64
Clicking "Install Program", "submit" and then back to look at the extractor heads output shows that all of them have returned to very low results, actually 2.97 to 14.38. This is the head information:
1 14.39 2 7.63 3 6.07 4 10.40 5 2.97 6 9.08
I cannot fathom any link between the "correct" and "buggy, low" yields. ie it's not 1/10th as much or anything along those lines. ==================== Trotter's Independant Traders. New York, Paris, Peckham, Jita. ====================

Has anyone seen a jump in pi prices yet? just wondering if its going up because we are producing less.

I've been having very similar problems.. first off all my production is cut drastically, but i didn't read anything about a PI nerf in the patch notes.
Some of my extractor nodes will show 0.0 for the quality but will be sitting right on top of a white patch while others will be terribly placed and show 100+. (i DO have advanced planetology skills and am in the same constellation).
Moving a node a milimeter will change my total output by crazy numbers (50k+ on a 24hour cycle) and the heat map is pretty much useless at this point.
PI has either been nerfed hard or it wasn't intended to be changed and somebody forgot to test it before releasing this patch.

I have six PI operations (2 Lava, 2 Barren, 1 Plasma, 1 Gas) and all have the same issue as reported by DelTrotter. This includes a total of 8 (2 per planet) different resources. I would recommend everyone that runs a PI operation submit a bug report ASAP so it gets noticed by CCP...

I think the problem may be that the planet scans are completely off. While trying to figure out WTF was going on I happened to move some extractor heads to a very cold spot and got a spike in my amounts that stayed after submitting the changes, leaving the planet and coming back.
I suspect that hotspots are shifting as they naturally do, but the scanning deal is not correctly updating so now you have to randomly guess where the new hotspot is until its fixed.

Originally by: Hartlan I think the problem may be that the planet scans are completely off.
This is definitely not the case with my report above. I literally move the extractor heads as short a distance as possible, a handful of pixels, and the harvest amount shoots up. Then it drops as soon as you click "Install Program".
That's not to say there's not more than one bug, of course. It just doesn't fit my experience.
Other planets with issues:
Gas / Reactive Gas Barren / Noble Metals Barren / Noble Metals Storm / Suspended Plasma Gas / Reactive Gas
Actually, that's the lot, and they are ALL bad. I thought I had some good ones last night but it appears not. ==================== Trotter's Independant Traders. New York, Paris, Peckham, Jita. ====================

ALL my PI is prodicing essentially nothing. Petition and Bug report filed yesterday.
IMHO this is the worst, buggiest patch ever, and not just PI. It's a LIST for sure. **************************

Same problem as OP - one point I haven't seen yet is the fact that it is NOT consistent, even on same planet I have one Extractor Control Unit working fine (Non-CS Crystals, or whatever they're called) and the other (Suspended Plasma) reading low in the middle of the white scan space until you 'bump' the heads. Have also noted that even after you bump the heads the production/cycle number does not go up to anything resembling reality (50 units per cycle?).
And on the flip side, on a Barren/Hi-sec planet, had the total (for Noble Metals) read 1,100,000 units for two-day production, which I suspect is a record (and therefore broken). |

Confirming same problem as OP on multiple planets over multiple accounts. Extractor head abundance values and map bear little to no relation to actual output. Cache clear changes nothing. |

Having the same issues, just set a petition to CCP as recommended. I really hope they acknowledge the issue soon.

Edited by: Kudlow N''cramer on 03/06/2011 02:27:54 Confirmed drastically reduced yields on all new extractor heads.
I also have two planets which have had graphic glitches since the patch. Normally, I would reload the planet and it would clear. However, there seem permanent. One shows the links without factories and the other is just a blank square. The setup still technically works besides not being able to interact with the borked portions. :)

My bug seems a bit different...the extrator heads show but not the extractor....so I can't restart the cycle...although the product still moved to production and link went from empty space to the spaceport. Hope the fix it soon.

Similar glitches on different accounts, different computers, different planet types, and different resources.
Planet scan is sometimes (not always) completely bogus. Extractor heads report high yield potential, but actual productivity may be nil. Extractor control units missing and unable to interact with, while extractor heads are still present, connected to an invisible target on the surface.
Overall productivity is not just handicapped, it is paraplegic.

Confirming this also happening at several of my and my alts planets, didn't take any numbers but will do that tomorrow if this bug still is there.

Im seeing pretty much the same as posted,in w-space and low sec. Some are extracting nothing, wiggle the heads clear the cache and no change. I hope they lower POS fuel usage on the tower or theres gonna be alot of unfueled POS's.

Not only am I having the same problems you all have described since the patch but my client also does a CTD (crash to desktop) while I am moving my extractor heads around. At first I though it was only when I left the extractor heads interfering with each other - figured the 'noise' graphic might have something to do with it, but no, it just did it again on me.
Anyone else having CTD experiences since the 1.6 patch? (yes, it all worked quite fine previously)
As to the other problems, I'm guessing that the PI scanning/surveying accuracy skills are not being taken into account. My heat maps do not represent the resource yields. It feels like back when I started PI and had my Planetology skill at L1.

Did they fix it without remapping the planet resources? In other words, do we have to rebuild all our colonies to attain the same yeilds as before the patch?

OP said this is fixed but I am not so sure of that. It's still happening to me. Anyone else?
