>\Relayed from GalNet sites and holo frequencies to the IGS
Last month, Anette Inhonores detailed her latest activities in the entertainment industry, with upcoming blockbusters Beyond the Veil and Ewd & Stin due out for release in June and August. Recently, the Little Lady took time to speak to pop culture journalist Jyne Tiroln about a new range of AI dolls endorsed by herself called "Taniqa", of which the 10-year old had a partial hand in designing.
Anette detailed how Taniqa was inspired, at least in terms of appearance, by a Ni-Kunni capsuleer she met during her stay on Amarr Prime last year, detailing an "auburn, or maybe red"-haired woman that she described to wear Gallentean fashion yet carry herself with self-respect and dignity. The doll, voiced by hologame voice actress Neha Agraawal of Ealurian descent, is known for her clothing range that is remarkably conservative yet stylish in its own right. The AI of Taniqa is designed to accompany young girls and teenagers in their everyday activities in the household, sharing her views and opinions on whatever lifestyle her owner leads. In particular, the AI can identify individual cosmetic products and provide various facts regarding each, including whether or not they breach Federal or district law in regards to environmental and health regulation. Amongst many other features, the owner can order products endorsed by Anette Inhonores directly through Taniqa. The AI can also act as a confidante, using the Amarr Scriptures as a reference for comfort and inspiration without direct citation.
Anette echoed her desires that every girl in the Federation should follow the term she coined as ôbeauty without the bodymodö. She pointed out the importance of sports in adhering to this philosophy, in her own words commenting that ôyou canÆt just say to eat right. Millions of people in our nation live in colonies and other places without automated luxuries, so they donÆt even have access to all this healthy stuff that food experts say is the thing to eat. You gotta actually do things, active things like sports, and itÆll shine through youö. She has stated numerous times that she disagrees heavily with the bodymod culture (as well as remote interfacing with secondary school from home) amongst the mainstream Gallentean youth, agreeing with luddite Simo ResharÆs Natural Way movement. With an impish smile, she also cited her father, young capsuleer general Seriphyn Inhonores, as an influence in participating in her various array of sports, including skyball and kendu kanarma.
Briefly, Anette talked about a new range of colonial clothing she is modelling for, aimed at girls between 9 and 14 years of age. ôThere are so many brands and ranges available for the well-off living on megaworlds and stationsö, she said, ôSo I figured it would be cool if we could offer something nice and stylish to wear for young colonists, while keeping in line with safety regs and all thatö. Anette reiterated the importance of frontiership in the Federation, and that the relatively lower standard of living amongst the colonies both in rural parts of the country and in the nullsec regions should not be deprived of ôexpressing oneself through what you wearö. Her range includes female jumpsuits in a wide variety of attractive colours while remaining extremely functional, as well as gravboots and inventory-satchels in similar stylings.

It is good to see that more reasonable and smarter delights are winning more ground. Moral education belongs to the fundamental rights of every child. Expressing the ideas of the scriptures with one's own words is as valuable as direct citation, since it shows that one has given some thought to the meaning of the writings.

The bodymods are indeed something that every reasonable person should oppose. They cost a lot of ISK, they can destroy your health, make you addicted or infected by hideous diseases, and heck, the mods don't even look very good! Personally I have never tried them and I am still in pretty good shape. I must commend young lady Inhonores for being a laudable role model for her generation.

I must admit that I am rather concerned with this AI doll being a child's confidante. Leaving aside the possibilities of hacking the doll, even in this day and age, one would hope that a child could be raised and cared for by human hands. If this is what the Federation has come to, maybe they should focus on a program to bring more people together in the same space rather than having to depend on AI dolls and telepresence.

She seems like a smart girl! I agree with her viewpoints on bodymods and caring for oneself (both physically and mentally). Mr. Inhonores has raised her fine, by all accounts.
I just don't get why the thread took a turn into religious discussion. Anyone following the Faith should be glad that words of wisdom are reaching a generation that most needs them.

My concern is that this...thing is being wholly manufactured in the corrupt depths of the Federation.
Who knows what kind of misinterpretation of the scriptures this thing will produce?
While it might attract some youth to devotion to the faith, unless there is proper oversight, I fear it will only serve to dilute the meanings of the scriptures.
That and I find it more than a little insulting to have my faith be represented by a toy drone. Or worse, that it might somehow become a "fad."
In short, down with this sort of thing.

Mr. Mokk,
I can understand your concern in this matter. I have a possible compromise that you might find interesting. Perhaps a suggestion to the company manufacture of the doll would like to have the oversight of some clergy in the process of programming the scriptures. This way there is no dilution in the meaning of the words that are used. Perhaps the doll could be updated if the owner inquires more about passages that were used.
I believe this would be a win / win situation for all parties involved.

Thank you Mr. Inhonores for clarifying that. My use of the term clergy seems to have been taken to mean the Theology Council. As to where I meant any member who is taught in a manner to understand the meaning of said scriptures. To further expand on the idea I would suggest to expand the dolls access to other religious material also of other cultures as well so the maker of this doll doesn't show a bias in regards to any one ideology.

Absolutely agree.
Just to be clear, I don't care about relogious beliefs of anyone: you are free to believe in what you think is right. And I want you to understand this sentence clearly or you might misjudge what I am going to say.
What I can't accept in our society is, as Miss/Mrs Lyn Farel said, is this "elegant" tentative to indoctrinate children. And this for two reasons:
- Grown up adults can make their own decision I think that some other professional from the sector of Education may say it better than me, but why must we "force" out children to follow our (or someone else's) beliefs? I think that the only real duty towards them is to teach the basis of the civil and social aspects of life. That is, not influenced by any personal feelings or beliefs. Also we need to teach them how to interact with society and, in general, with other people. As they grow up, they can make their decisions about these heavier aspects of life, such as religion, ethics and so on. Thousands of theologists study those Scriptures and do you really think a little boy or a little girl has the knwoledge or the maturity to understand them? When the fatal question, typical of children, comes out (i.e. "Why this, dad/mom?") our typical answer is "Because so it is, my dear", destroying the natural curiosity of a human being, and the greater curiosity of childhood, that led the human kind where now stands.
Faith, as for definition, is believing something as they told you.
- WHY the Scriptures? Let's not talk about the need for using a robot-doll with an artificial intelligence to take care of our children in the hardest moments of their lives. That would be enough to cut the production before its start, according to me. But if one of the aim of the doll is to "act as a confidante", WITHOUT direct citation of the Scriptures, why using them at all? I can't believe the manifacturer couldn't find a SINGLE psychologist in all New Eden willing to write algorhythms and/or procedures to make the doll act as a confidante. Using the guide of a professional, and not some random realigious book, the same goal could be achieved in a better and more effective way.
I hope this feature of the doll will be changed in a very near future or, better, be completely removed.

Noticing that I did not elaborate, I have to add that my question was an actual question and not a statement of any kind asked with an ironic tone.
My main concern is not about the content, but about the form : educationnal tools combined with marketing and commercial uses, which has lead in a lot of difference cases in a lot of different cultures to a lot of different awkward results (indoctrination when not controlled properly by authorities before the release, poor quality products to cut off production costs, etc). |
