OK, so we have this new character creation thingy but as I noted in another thread, everyone looks the same. You cant look at a character and say "Amarr" or "Gallente" without looking deeper. Someone commented that it's becuase racial clothing and accessories have been removed. BINGO!!
That was it! I missed that completely.
When I was creating my characters the clothing semed...well, non-EVEish. Almost like they came out of some JC-Penney catalogue.
So how about adding these things to the character creator inventory?
Wait...
It just dawned on me. The future vanity store where you can purchase clothing for aurum.
Ah!
$mart move CCP. if you want to look the part, you now have to pay for it. Well, personally I think that sucks. Basic racial clothing and accessories should be included without charge.

honestly I think the plan is replace all current options from the creator with the more eve theme bases for each race. Then move all of the more geniric sci-fi clothing to the item shop. I remember a dev saying somewhere that there wuld be more free clothing coming out that was more eve like, and that they would be removing some items from the creator to put into the item store.
I can only assume in the future being one race or the other means you get a free unlimited supply of your race clothing.
and yes I miss my face masks : (

I agree with Lady Spank.
Her old avatar was awesome. It shouted "Amarr." Her new one doesnt do it. In fact, if it werent stated beleow her avatar, I never would have known she is Amarr.
vs.
Now you decide which one is more racially distinct.

Dumb much? He makes a fair point using the avatar of the person who supported his argument. I don't see any butt kissing going on.
Homogeneous is indeed the word to describe these nondescript new characters. The old ones really were massively distinguishable. The new ones are a disaster.

No. I dont know the character (Lady Spank) nor do I interact with her in game. I'm just stating an opinion.

Id say the Sebiestor males now all look pretty much the same although they at least look distinct from the other races.
Worse though they look very different from the original Sebiestors.

yup, if ccp doesn't get on it, we'll never have racial looks ever again.
but i DO agree with ccps direction of making the racial distinctions more based on how race looks in real life. The issue is they lost all CULTURAL uniqueness , it's like someone grabed people from all over the world, striped them of their cultural identities, *local popular hair styles, tattoos, head dresses* and put them in a room. IT's true they look a lot more alike because of that. And honestly the old characters are still better right now due to this fact.

I seem to recall a lot of whining from some that they wanted all clothing and racial features to be available across the board.. which I remember speaking out against. oh well, this is what I feared would happen.

What I find especially amusing is how you can create a Matari character with a big Amarr logo in the background.

Very valid option. Never heard of Eran Mintor? Shern? Lyn Farel? Syn Marek? These are names I know from the RP community but I'm sure there are many more who are not roleplayers. _____________________________ [Sebiestor tattoos and hair plus Intaki hair: Bring them back.] |

We Amarr men are the only ones that stand out and are still distinguisable. Which is correct as we're the only race that's truely distinguised.

Another example:
Now you tell me what race she is.
My guess is BARBIE!! She's the new BARBIE race in EvE.
I really have no idea.

Its like real life, a native Italian women next to a native Irish women , give them both sun glasses, and bobs, and it would be hard to tell the difrence. this is GOOD for realism.
However, the issue is, some people want to flaunt their native culture. And they should be given the option to do so.

When it comes down to it, EvE really is about the struggle and differences between the races. Otherwise all stations, all ships...everything would look the same and we would all be one happy family with no negative/positve standing towards anyone.
Eve is about Factions, about Races and as a game should help us celebrate these differences along with the rivalries that exist between as well.
The new character creator just took this level of game play away. Granted, it's just immersion but what good is a scifi MMO without immersion?

However, grab someone from the Mumbutu tribe and stand them up next to a westerner and culture is obvious. "Western Culture" is "western culture" regardless of which specific country you live in or what language you speak. We all wear blue jeans and covet designer Italian clothing, and despise Hugh Jackman.
