Edited by: Hildar Demanin on 04/06/2011 16:48:15 So yet again CCP feel the need to change the useless crap that is the machonet protocol to download bulk data and get it blocked by my university. Does anyone have a copy of the cache folder for the current sisi build they can upload for me?
And CCP: use a better system for downloading bulk data that doesn't need me to request it to be unblocked from my oh so helpful uni ISP every damn patch.
And no I won't give you a logserver, as all it shows is "Connection timed out" and you won't be able to reproduce it. ~~~ Insert witty comment here. Oh and stand still so god can smite you heathens. |

I have the same problem with my ISP (I have to use my iPhone's "Personal Hotspot" feature to let my computer download bulkdata). Could you elaborate on this machonet protocol so I know what to tell my ISP?

I know that for Incursion CCP accidentally changed the way their packet ID's where being created. This lead to pretty much every college eve player who's school supported a 'resnet' system to shut down the login traffic.
At the time, it was the initial handshake used when logging in that was being cut off. Not sure if the event pertains to errors in the bulk data downloading.
Possible fix: The first time it started up, it was a simple matter of CCP getting in contact with the companies who worked with the traffic shapers, and they released a patch which allowed traffic again. --- I'm not trying to be a turd on purpose. I'm just telling you how you are wrong.
Ok, yeah, its on purpose. |

Yeah, this happens seemingly every patch on sisi. If I bother to complain they unblock it but even if I don't it's strangely fine when it gets to TQ... I got hit with the handshake change thing too.
Best answer is for CCP (or another kind soul) to just give us the bulk data files... ~~~ Insert witty comment here. Oh and stand still so god can smite you heathens. |

Unfortunately it still hangs on 40 for me. Thanks for the effort though.
