I'd like to relate a bit of Brick Squad's history and origins for your reading pleasure. Our story begins in the tenth century B.C.
The original Brick Squad was composed of three distinct groups divided on racial and class lines. The more dominate group were the Scythians who originally founded Brick and were supported by Cimmerians (of which Conan is the most famous historical figure) and the Indo-Aryans, a mix of the conquering Aryan bloodlines and fierce nomads of the Steppes of the IndoAsian subcontenent.
The Scythians were a particularly bloodthirsty culture based upon war and gold. They rode fast, solid steeds and used a mix of Calvary archers and melee troops. Thier bows were medium range and good damage. The Scythians would invade nearby villages and generally would exterminate the males and subjugate the females. After battle it was customary for the Scythian commander to behead the warlord he had conquered, and then fashion a cup from the skull for the post victory toast.
When the Scythans first encountered the Cimmerians-they were awed by the fighting spirit or the people. They first rode in expecting an easy win only to find that every member of the tribe came out battle ready. This included women, children, the elderly and even infants. While the Scythians eventually did win, they chose to forgo the ritual execution of the conquered males. The Scythian leader-over much protest-decided that the fierce warrior spirit of the Crimmerians should be protected and incorporated into Scythian battle formations.
The two groups were homogenized within a generation and then were a formidable force the likes of which had never been seen West of Mongolia. As they traveled East they conquered many lands from Africa to Asia before turning South to the Indian Sub-Continent. There they encountered the IndoAryans in what was to be the toughest fight of the campaign. After an Aryan invasion of India-the Aryans developed a stable and lasting relationship with the conquered peoples. This had lasting peace and stability for over 200 years. In that time they devised and rigorously practiced tactics and formations never seen in the theater of war before. They developed and used camouflage perfectly-springing up at the last second and using thier curved blade, to behead enemies in a fearsome surprise attack.
Again seeing new tactics and bold fighters-the Scythians formed a kinship with the IndoAryans and incorporated the bravest and strongest warriors into the society. This was the original Brick Squad. Once unified this group was first recorded in history by Herodotus in 450 B.C. although some fragmentary Sanskrit tablets show a unique Cuneiform symbol never identified-that some scholars believe is in fact-a fired clay brick. Brick Squad was now a unified group without a homeland-which worked out well for them as they were able to attack virtually and other nation with political impunity, as they had no allies.
Many of the traditions present in the original components of Brick remain to this day. The symbolic use of Drakes traces back to the Scythians-good damage at medium range on a solid steed. The Brick engagement rules of never surrender and fight till the death draws it's roots back to the Crimmerian attitude that it is better to be killed in battle than to live your life in defeat. Also in Bricks arsenal is the use of cloakers and unprobeable ships-which we can directly attribute ancient camouflage tactics employed by the IndoAryans of the 7th Century B.C.
Many of the current Brick Squad members can directly trace their lineage to one of the three groups nearly Three Thousand years ago. Although much of the history has been destroyed or is still being kept secret-contemporary historians agree on one thing: Brick Squad is one of the worlds oldest warrior societies still thriving in the modern world.

Since I seem to have a slightly...ummm...make that moderately higher education then some of the previous replies, IÆd like to compliment you on posting this. I definitely ôgetö where youÆre coming from, and I think it translates well into EVE. But which racial group would you have as the Scythians? The Caldari? Does that make the Khanid the Cimmerians?
It was a lot of fun chasing you guys around Querious the other night. A shame we couldnÆt shoot down more of you, but oh well. :)
Drop me a line if you guys ever want to take a more ôPro-Khanidö stance.

I would like to give you a little about my history. Let's start at the beginning. The Year: 1988 The Place: King's Corner Trailer Park A great man came home that night and as he put his six pack of Busch Light on the hood of his 1986 Mustang GT he fast forwarded his mix-tape cassette to "Every Rose has it's thorns" Poison, because chicks dig Poison and he saw them live in 87 and they totally rocked his face off.
Actually this story sucks. I heard there was like a war going on up north or something. c/d?

D, it's not a war when one side packs their stuff up and hitches the next train south without even so much as a courtesy house-burning to commemorate the event....

Black Forest Cake -----------------
Layers of cream, cherry and chocolate make this a lip-smacking creation.
Preparation Time: 30 minutes
Cooking Time: 60 minutes
Ingredients (serves 8)
* 1 x 470g pkt chocolate cake mix * 1 x 670g jar morello cherries * 2 tbs caster sugar * 1 tbs cornflour * 600ml thickened cream * 60ml (1/4 cup) kirsch * 2 tbs boiling water * 2 tbs caster sugar, extra * 100g dark cooking chocolate, coarsely grated
1. Prepare and bake the chocolate cake mix following packet directions. Turn onto a wire rack to cool completely. Use a large serrated knife to cut the cake horizontally into 3 even layers.
2. Drain the cherries, reserving 160ml (2/3 cup) of the juice. Reserve 10 cherries to decorate. Place the remaining cherries and the reserved juice in a saucepan with the sugar and cornflour. Stir over medium-low heat until the mixture boils and thickens. Transfer to a large bowl. Cover with plastic wrap and place in the fridge to chill.
3. Use an electric beater to beat cream in a medium bowl until firm peaks form.
4. Place kirsch, water and extra sugar in a jug and stir until the sugar dissolves.
5. Place 1 cake layer on a serving plate and drizzle over half of the kirsch mixture. Spread with half of the cherry mixture and a thin layer of the cream. Repeat with the remaining cake, kirsch mixture, cherry mixture and cream, finishing with a layer of cake.
6. Spread some of the remaining cream over the top and side of the cake. Sprinkle the chocolate over the top and gently press onto the side of the cake.
7. Place the remaining cream in a piping bag fitted with a 1cm fluted nozzle and pipe rosettes around the edge of the cake.
8. Arrange the reserved cherries around the cake between the cream rosettes. Cut the cake into wedges to serve.

While I fully endorse and approve of Darius' history lesson it seems appropriate to also mention the "in-game" origin of the name. :)
At one point during the G Alliance invasion of Stain Hellsrazor fought a 1v1 with a G pilot in his ferox against I think some kind of HAC, don't remember what exactly. During the process of Hellsrazor's standard obliteration of his opponent the other pilot remarked something to the effect of "Damn your missiles hit like bricks."
From this conversation there gradually emerged an informal usage of the term "brick squads" to refer to small gangs of primarily Ie-eX only (but not exclusively) pilots, usually late night US-TZ run by scooter where we would pretty much engage anything at all, try to strike hard and fast without much regard for our own losses. This was very often our tendency anyway but in normal gangs there would usually be at least some voice of caution. Not so much in "brick squads".
Years later when we were kicked out of Minor Threat primarily for just this sort of behavior (fighting without concern for our own losses) and decided to form our own alliance which we originally expected to be pretty much Ie-eX only we called it Brick Squad. Since then we've obviously joined up with other like-minded folks but the warrior mindset that Darius describes above remains.

So, if numbers alone win or lose wars. With those tens of thousands, why did the NC fall?
