There was a time around a month ago where all the mining bots I was reporting were getting banned soon after the report was made. I knew they were bots because normal people don't mine 18-20 or more hours a day.
I'm keeping tabs on a ton of mining bots right now, they mine from downtime to downtime, a full 23/7. Yet weeks after being reported they're still all ingame, botting away.
There's also the question of that devblog that Sreegs keeps promising to be posted in either a week, or a few days, but 3 weeks later and there's still no blog.
Frankly i'm losing faith, and have stopped submitting reports until I see action taken on the ones I reported previously, who are some of the worst cases of botting i've seen so far.

Yeah, look at this (the sticky):

This could be for a number of reasons, individual bots made for player gains are banned as you said but RMT networks are monitered for a while to see how they move illeagle ISK. Also with the fail patch most of the staff are on Damage Control to get the Bugs under control so there Inbox might be piling up.

The Dev's Answer Questions Blog was stopped as well since the lead up to patch and they stated it was on hold do to the issues.

They cant bann the bots, eves economy would collapse. Going by what i see in empire belts 80% of all ice and minerals on the eve market comes from bots.

Well, they are doing something. Roughly at the same time Mo reported mining bots, I was looking for another group - mission running bots. Results were presented in this thread: http://www.eveonline.com/ingameboard.asp?a=topic&threadID=1509785.
Those were not the only one spotted. I left many of them unreported to see if CCP was actually doing something other than investigating player reports and how effective they are. The results are:
- 99 characters were reported - ~170 characters are on my watch list and active since they were spotted (12.05.) - 140-150 were not active since the 1.6 patch
Now, I know that NinjaSpud was hunting too, so the number of inactive suspicious characters might be boosted by his petitions. It's unclear whether CCP have some back end tools (and how effective they are) or they are relying primarily on player submitted petitions about suspicious behaviour, but one this is clear (as far as mission running bots are concerned) - CCP is doing something, it only takes time for them to react.

Actually in this highsec system i sometimes mine while at work, all those bots are gone. They vanished some weeks ago, and are still gone, either because those accouts still be banned or because they moved to more quiet systems. Anyway, noone misses them and nothing happened to the mineral prices in this region.

I take it you missed the part where CCP said that RMT'ers usually pay with stolen credit cards so not only do they not get paid but get a feckin headache from it when the credit card companies or card owners contact CCP about fraudulent charges.

They should change the actions:
ò First offense û 30 day ban of all accounts from that IP address;
ò Second offense û 60 day ban of all accounts from that IP address;
ò Third offense û Permanent ban of all accounts from that IP + address book and all private information is made available to the general public;
This would stop ******s from using bots.

I think people are just over reacting, accusing everyone of botting... Not everyone in 0.0 is a bot, and people just accuse them of botting because they don't reply to local / eve mails / etc.
I don't talk in local if you'r not my friend. I don't talk a lot when mining and usually if I do talk, I do it on TS...
From the outside perspective - I don't talk using the client, I must be a bot D:
And the author of this thread doesn't really check any data , does he? Go to some botting forums and see those tears about CCP banning bots. Once they discover the pattern of a certain bot, they ban them in batches.

3000 active full accounts banned as of about the middle of last month (just from last month).
5000 accounts banned counting trial accounts.
This does not include the security team results, only the customer service team using traditional methonds (like your reports). The security team results are supposed to be released this week.
One of the major bot sites has completely closed down, others are hurting already, as monitored in the Reporting from the Front line of the Bot war thread on this forum.
When a ban occurs it happens to all of the accounts a player owns, not just the account that was running the bot.
Try to keep up with current events.

...perhaps you should take another updated look also. HiSec mineral prices have been going up slowly since last hulkageddon and you encounter very few bots in hisec nowdays.
Eve economy isn't going to crash anywhere if all mining bots are taken out for good. Prices may go bit up but they have been there before the bots already, so it is nothing new.
Removing ratting bots is whole different issue and when those are gone it will be reality check for many.

Not hard to ban those who are farming 23/7 if players are reporting them to you.

Yes, because CCP should just take your word for it right? Not do any investigation on their own?
What you people don't get is that "Investigation" takes time and resources away from the game.... CCP runs within a finite budget, just like any corporation. If they spend a too much on this type of thing, the game suffers...Hmmm happening already?

If some IP is used by one bot account you can totally ban by IP even if it's a whole Quatar. Why? Because who cares about them if they only have 1 account in the whole country. uʍop ǝpısdn ǝɹnʇɐuƃıs ʎɯ ƃuıpɐǝɹ ǝɹɐ noʎ |

Although a sudden banning of all botters would effect the economy it wouldn't be bad. In the short term prices for Ore and minerals would obviously go up, due to lack of supply. However, (as any high school graduate could tell you) the lack of supply would drive up prices and the demand for minerals. It would become much more profitable for miners, thus increasing the amount of miners in the roid fields. The beauty of a free market is that it will react to the supply/demand law. As it stands right now Ore and minerals are at a much lower price than they should be due to botters.

Many people do not consider what botters do with their ill gotten ISK. What they do is buy stuff, and much of that stuff is made with.... wait for it...... Minerals!
Remember mostly mining bots increase mineral supply. Ice miners do not, mission runners do not (well, maybe if the bot loots and melts down the loot). Drone region ratting bots add to mineral supply, but most of those get used locally.
So bots may actually be helping hold some prices high. In any event, they distort what is supposed to be a player driven economy. Kill em all.

I honestly think that you would be ****ed off if you were banned (for nothing) due to someone on the same street as you getting banned (for botting)... all because CCP decided to ban by IP
(note: of course, that could include housing blocks, mobile broadband users, anyone who shares a network for any reason... even the ISP deciding to refresh their users IP can result in someone innocent having a banned IP if they shared the same ISP as a "cheater" and lived just in the same area as them...) |

IP blocks are easy to circumvent, but have a chance to annoy legitimate customers. Most ISP give their customers dynamic IP from an existing pool. A botter might just disconnect and reconnect to get a new IP, while a customer who was not botting, suddenly begin to wonder, why he is unable to login, unaware that a botter used the IP adress a while ago.
