So I just came from playing WoW and it sucks leaving behind everything I had earned over there if I come over here. I was an expert at playing the AH. I had over 40k gold I earned myself without any help or buying any.
But here I only start with 5k and ISK doesn't buy anything. You can get pretty much ANYTHING in WoW with 40k gold except for really rare world drops or rewards from the trading card game. So thats why I think a gold probably equals about a million or more ISK maybe 100 million.
Is there anyway I can pay RM to transfer it over to EVE?

You can buy PLEX with RL money and convert it into ISK by selling to other players on the market. http://www.eveonline.com/ingameboard.asp?a=topic&threadID=763167 |

Edited by: Sylvie Brillantine on 07/06/2011 18:56:21 Only way to get ingame currency with real life money is to buy GTC and sell them for ISK, either directly on the forum (timecode bazaar, read the stickies), or by converting them into PLEX (an ingame object that allows you to extend your game time) and selling them on the ingame market.
Hope that helps,
Sylvie

Do the tutorial missions and you will walk away with 10million in asset, enough for a decent start.

In all seriousness, what's the WOW policy on selling in game items for money? I have no idea.

I recently started a new character and did the first 2-3 missions and had about 500K, and a handful of skill books. MUCH MUCH more then when I originally started playing years ago.
Buy Game Time Codes for EVE, and sell them on the forum, or convert them to PLEX and sell them in a System called... Jita The station is listed as Jita IV - Moon 4 - Caldari Navy Assembly Plant
Make sure you're docked at that station BEFORE you convert your Time Card to PLEX and whatever you do.. DO NOT undock anywhere with a PLEX in your cargo. Once you're there and you have the PLEX or PLEXS, place them for sale for 0.01 ISK below the lowest sell price lol Do one at a time.
You'll end up with at least 700mil.
How to convert your 40K WOW Gold into Real Life Currency?.. Well that's not exactly legal, I think, I have no idea as I have never played or read about WOW and their policies. Lets face it, it's not rocket science.

Yep, I noticed this recently grinding some standing on a new alt. You could also do this 3 times with your own faction and three times with each of the other faction, certainly your alley faction. Somebody that kept they wits about them would also spot several decent trading opportunities. The epic story line mission would be a good next step.

Just to carry on original post.
40k gold doe snot buy you much in WoW, seriously I can spend that in seconds. You can not have been that good at playing the AH if you only have 40K gold. I could make that in a day with ease. Try 250K gold before quitting WoW. Thats something to leave behind.
But to get back on topic.. Do a few missions, mine some ore form your starter ship and the tutorial and you will soon find you have more ISK than you need at your stage of the game.
And for the love of god. Do not compare Eve to Wow.. Ever... Seriously.

The poster's name is "Sojelly" which is a current meme in the neckbeard community, I think it comes from League of Legends or something. It's a shortered version of "so jeleous." So after you "pwn" someone you type "u jelly." It's like the new "u mad."
TL;DR it's a troll.

Just checked RMT prices for WoW gold, about 60usd for 40,000 gold. 60usd pays 4 plexes, which amounts to about 1500 million ISK.
So about 27 gold for one million ISK. Nowhere near one gold -> one million ISK(even less 100 million...).
Still, all only theoretical unless you find someone quitting EVE and starting WoW.

I've never played WoW so forgive me for just using your post as a basis for my observation.
But it would seem that 250k gold wouldn't be that big a deal to walk away from, if you can make 40k a day. Even if a person wasn't as l33t as you say you were at "making gold" and they could only earn 20k a day, that's still only 12.5 days to reach 250k. Wouldn't it be in the millions of gold to really be a big deal?
And a correction on the conversation rate:
1 WoW gold = 12 steaming piles of Amarr "leftovers". Looks like you got yourself about 480,000 piles, grats.
Maybe my mathz is wrong?

Who cares? He's quitting anyway. This is definitely the best advice, think of it as a charitable donation it's possible the owner of the WOW gold plantation will give one of the slaves a day off. |

I used to work with a few people who played WOW. The statement they always made was I think all day why would I want to play a game the involves much thought. EVE is an intellectual game or at least in this forum. Either go to Crime & Punishment with the other uncivilized barbarians or go back to WOW. Your clearly not smart enough to figure this out on your own.

No, this is not possible. According to the EVE Online EULA, in-game items and ISK cannot be exchanged for real-life money or other games' currencies.
If you need ISK, I would advise you to purchase some PLEX and sell them to other players on the in-game market.

A friend of mine used several bots to farm gold a day. If he were to go to farming gold, I'd get an account to see what I could do on the AH(auction house?)

40,000 gold seems to be ca. 40 - 60$ which would translate into 0.8 - 1.8b ISK.

That is not really the right "conversion" considering as seen above the EULA would be broken.
Thus the real way would be using TIME as a conversion. How long to amass 40k gold, according to above claim a day maybe? Well making .5B - 1.5B per day is not until you really reach high range game. Lets say best case and good trading talent after 1-3 days you might reach 100-300M.
So if we were nice the time conversion would get him max 500M
EVE is a different game because of the factor of LOSS. Since that is not relevant in WOW buying gold for real money is a one time investment. In EVE everytime you undock or actually just by login on you are at risk. Hence the virtual currency is worth a bit more on TIME invested.
Just my personal opinion and view.

in WoW you spend a lot on consumables and gems/enchants for items that will become obsolete after a few months.
Always thought the majority of gold buyers in WoW were people who can't be bothered to grind dailies/professions in order to finance their raiding as almost all desirable items are pind-on-pickup and can't be sold on the AH. (and buying gold to get some mediocre crafted or BoE items would be silly)

Edited by: Eckstacy on 08/06/2011 10:29:38 I'd consider 1g = 500k ISK, as you cannot compare accurately AH and Market, as there are no buy order capabilities in WoW so a lot of market work is down to being online and searching the right items at the right time, so instead I compared farming standard high level mobs to ratting/mission running with a standard T1 ship with T2 fit.
However, it would be difficult enough finding someone here who wants to play WoW, but finding someone on the same server/faction as you would be even harder I reckon.
It's already been suggested, but I'd break your WoW EULA and sell the gold for $$, and any items you have currently that can be sold and then buy PLEX. Any other way is a trip to Banned Camp I'm afraid.
P.s. 40k gold isn't that much, granted, but its still not a bad amount. The conversion rates are flawed (as gold selling/isk buying is done with profit for the third party on both transactions).

Which raises the question is an abysmal failure to succeed in a troll still a troll?

There is a way you can actually... not pay but for free but it might be hard...
At www.D2jsp.org. It's a forum mainly used for D2 players, using a valuta caled "FG" (forum gold). What you can do is, that you can sell your gold for "x" amount fg, and then buy isk for "x" amount fg.
It has not anything to do with RMT, and RMT is also illegal on d2jsp so it should be legal in eve to do it. I have not done it myself though.
