Just curious, have any actual player characters been referenced in any of the EVE novels?

I don't think actual players have been referenced in the novels, some players have been referenced in the Chronicles (see "hands of a killer", for instance). I'd generally assume that said players are the alts or close friends of whomever wrote those chronicles. ----------------------------------------------
Say "Amarr ships suk, lol." I dare you.

I would need to re-read it, but IIRC, Ushra'khan is mentioned in Empyrean Age. Theres a few other incredibly obscure references to alliances and pilots laying around if you care to dig for them. Mostly centering around the old AURORA events, if my memory continues to serve me well. --

Edited by: Mithfindel on 10/06/2011 11:38:25 Can't remember the novels, but like noted, there were hints to some roleplaying groups.
Of the other non-news Prime Fiction, the chronicle "Tides of Change", mentions the Curse Alliance (CA) and to this date, has not been retconned. Curse Alliance was one of the big dogs at the time of writing this chronicle (I think it's originally written by a player).
The art in "Hands of a Killer" is essentially based on the old portrait of the character Discorporation, whose player did write the chronicle. There may be some other homages paid in the chronicles, as well. Several of these are player-written.
The most direct ingame mention of players is the planets in Kor-Azor Prime. Emperor Doriam II was selected in a tournament, kind of a predecessor of the alliance tournaments. The champions of Doriam Kor-Azor got a celestial named after themselves. They were Ecliptical (team captain, Kor-Azor IV), Grikl (moon 1), Black Viper (moon 2) and Kileak (moon 3).

As for the chronicles - two players had walk-on roles in the story "In the Electric Museum" and were also depicted in the artwork, as members of the audience. I cannot recall their names at the moment but I believe they won something, either a competition or a FF silent auction.
Then there is the last chron I wrote, part 2 of "The Book of Emptiness", where the narrator turns into the reader at the end. I'm still not sure how many people guessed that ending, although now that I've thoroughly spoiled it, I guess it's immaterial.

A wild Abraxas appears!
I know the OP asked about the novels specifically, but it's worth noting that live events have been making player characters a part of EVE canon for as long as the game has been around. A recent example would be Seriphyn Inhonores' family becoming victims and later servants of Sansha's Nation (Slave Heavenbound02).
