"Lets do level 5 missions in frigate class"
This was the text in the last invitation for an operation i arranged.
You insane i heard alot say when they have read the mail. At 18:00 EVE last night, i took my Jaguar for a spin and set the autopilot twas Auner. Once in Auner, i docked up in the Republic Fleet station and had a beer and a chat with my high level agent.
He could offer me "Fate of angels" which i accepted. I finished my beer and dobble checked my cargo for enough ammomision. Mission objective was in the system it self. I undocked and warpped to the coordinates given by my agent.
It was a long warp, thinking of being in a frigate class warping into a mission site of high end. My biggest concern were if our engineers had used the right glue this time, when building my jaguar.
I landed and what a site. I look at the battlestation the agent have asked me to take down, it was well defended. A ton of cruiser and battle cruiser class ships, neuting and webifying towers. Everything locked me up and with a burst my shield were nearly gone. I quickly aligned to the Amo stargate and prepared my self to warp out. One more burst and i was in deep armor. "WARP DRIVE ACTIVATED".
I landed on the Amo gate think of my invite for this operation. Doing this high end mission in frigates. This would be imposible unless we had a tanking ship. With Autopilot set back to Hek, to meet my team, i was woundering how to handle this. There were no doubt, i need to ship up and have logistics to handle this.
When i landed in Hek, i jumpped in my Drake and met up with the team. They were supprise to see me in a Drake. I breifed the situation, and we all agreed on, that if didnt all wanted to end up as metal scraps, we needed a logistic and a tanking battlecruiser. With one pilot swapping to a scimitar the team headed back to Auner.
I warpped to site and shouted for the logistic to warp in to. Wow, one should think this were a minmatar ship, i was not pleased. Even with a logistic ship reparing like crazy the shileds just melted. And the angels had got reinforcements with frigates and battleships.
We hit warp and warpped back to the Amo gate. We needed more logistics. One more team member to high level logistic pilots joined the team in another Scimitar.
Once again i warpped to the angel battlestation followed by the two scimitars. Wow the Angels had called in even more reinforcement, my shield melted once again, but red as i was, my shield became stable.
Now it time to show the angels who rules. Out fleet of 9 frigates warpped in and started pounding the Angels. After a few more respawns of Angels, and some of our frigates taking damange it was time to hit the angel battlestation. 15 minnuts later the chockwave from the exsplosion of the angel battlestation, nearly had the frigates tip over.
Our fleet warpped to some safe coordinates in Auner which i went back to my Agent to turn in the mission and collect 78.000 LP and 7.000.000 ISK in reward for our team to split.
Our Team picked up a few more level 5 missions which took about 30 minnuts each. The last mission we had to bail out, as Combat Probes showed on D-Scan with a fleet of pirates in the tail of it. As we all set in warp we hard several pirate battleships, faction cruisers and T3s landing on us.
We desided to wait to finish the last mission and call it a night, but it was overall fun, and a huge effort of teamwork, to see frigate class ships doing a level 5 mission. Good work all, and GREAT FUN!!

Alright... it took you 12 ships including 2 logis to do a L5. Great. Your point? ------------------------------- When I mitigate risks in business, they call me financially sound. When I mitigate risk in PVP, they call me a coward.

To show a way to Have Fun as a team, and for those who a fed up with missions like i am.
All in all, Fun and Teamwork
Some corporation, often wounder what kind of operations to arrange, this could be one for the fun of it. We have done this twice now with huge success. People become very active and PVP'ers and PVE'ers start working together rather fast.

I'll have to give your ideas a try sometime as it seems like lots of fun. "All the strangers on trains look like they're going away again, on holiday (why didn't I?)." |

That's fantastic, I don't post every time I have fun. If I did, you wouldn't be able to salvage any threads out of this forum. ------------------------------- When I mitigate risks in business, they call me financially sound. When I mitigate risk in PVP, they call me a coward.

You didn't do a Lvl 5 in frigates, you had a BC and two logistics.

You missed the point - Fun And even though 1 BC and 2 logi were on field, didnt leave the frigates without trouble and more than enough to do. |

This
Does sound pretty cool, crazy but I like it.
If you want a real challenge you should try the mission Prison Break (1 of 2). It's bugged so you can't finish it (though if you have a ship that can travel 10,000 km you might actually be able to get passed the bugged gate) but it has ~142 bs total in the mission. ------------------- piccy |

A bugged mission :( 10.000KM is pretty fare to travel though. |

Why not primary ( and kill off) the webbing/neuting/sentry towers with something "bigger" than a frig. Then warp in the frigs?

Lol fate of angels is awful.
Also, fail fleet is fail level 5s can be done reasonably with only 3-4 ships.

Nice1.
For starters, you guys played one of the worst lev 5 missions (extreme incoming DPS and non blitzable).
Your fleet composition, and the teamwork made it fun - success! But your fleet composition was a total and absolute failure. Not even 1 of those ship types is/should be used in lev 5 missions. One Maelstrom fitted with 1400mm arties, 4 specific active hardeners, x-large shield booster, tracking computer, 4 gyrostabilizers, damage control, anti EM, anti heat and anti kinetic screen reinforcers - or a Raven with cruise missile launchers, target painter, BCU's , all the rest modules same as the Mael - enters the mission site first and takes the aggro...
Then one Typhoon - or a Scorpion, or a Dominix even better - fitted with 4 Large s95 shield transporters, 2 large 'regard' energy transfer arrays, 4 cap rechargers, 6 capacitor flux coils, damage control and 3 large capacitor control circuit rigs enters the site immediately afterwards and keeps the DPS ship alive, while also adding some decent damage with its heavy drones. Scimitars dont do good in lev 5's, because they cant give energy to the tanking ship. Basilisks can do a lot better, but still, they dont have the drone capacity that Battleships have. This is the standard lev 5 missions running set up. Not fun but highly profitable.
"And what would the other 10 guys be doing during this time", you might ask.
Well, they could: a) Form 5 groups and play their own lev 5 missions.
b) Salvage your mission.
c) Scout your way through the adjacent solar system (Resbroko if I remember correctly) because that agent gives 1 out of 2 missions there and not in Auner.
d) Or even better, and that would be the real fun, form up a pvp fleet and keep an eye on them pirates, check their ships and numbers and fight back.
PS: I 'm sure your are not doing this for the LP rewards, but 100k is far better than just 78k LP. Train Security Connections to lev 4.

PEOPLE it's about having fun with other peeps, I know it could be done in a few min with a OH MY GOSH DPS MISSION BOAT. I have one of those boats. It sounds like it was about HAVING FUN WITH FREINDS (oh ya, some peeps don't have freinds). Developing teamwork, developing a sense of community in a corp and alliance. I wish I knew peeps like these, I may be talkin to ya Ynot...

What ever peoples opinion have been and telling me if im doing it wrong or not. Its not like im a noob in game and i belive after 4 years and 2000+ missions behin me i know how to do level 5s the right way.
This was only to do something different and get the teamwork going.
Anyway, this was inspiration for other CEOs / Directors of alliances to arrange other operations.
This is deffently something we are going to do again, everyone in fleet that night and many more have asked me, when they will have the chance to do this again. So i can only say the "FUN" apsect had great success and big impact.
Iv read a topic about a "wolfpack" with RR fitted and suggestions on setups, i might try that out and see if we can drop the BC and 2x scimitars and do it in pure frigates. If anyone beats me to this, please let me know the turnout. |

I like the idea of things like this, it may not be quick, clean and efficient like dedicated lvl 5 mission running but it sounds way more fun to do, and if you can afford to do it then Ynot? (i couldn't resist...)
It probably makes the mission feel more epic too, like the small rebel alliance trying to take down the evil empire of giant lumbering behemoth battleships, everyone working together for the greater good, and maybe using ships they haven't been in for a long long time. CCP should try to work out a system to make pick up groups for battle-heavy missions easier than trying to convince people in local, sure we have Incursions, but variety is the spice of life!

Edited by: VIP Ares on 20/06/2011 08:34:42 It is not frigates doing level 5 mission.
It is Drake + 2 Logistic ship + some random DPS, in this case loads of frigates.
Really fake title and story.
2 ships is enough for all level 5. Some fits and some missions can be done solo.
When you manage to do it as title says - frigate hulls - please repost, will be good reading.

As to the OP - you're getting trolled because your title implied you did a level 5 mission in frigates. Which would have been awesome.
Instead, you used a drake with dual logi's and generally herpe-derped your way to a slow mission completion.
Grats, I guess.
