Okay, please bear in mind this is my first suggestion. If you see something wrong with the way it's suggested (as well as the suggestion itself) please make a polite comment. Ty!
The suggestion: When two players in the same station, both in CQ mode, start a private conversation, one of them appears in the other's CQ (chosen at random). If the two players have mutual high standing, the guest can use the ship fitting, news, market, and Science and Industry interfaces. Recustomization is disabled though. Notes: ò Both players would have to accept a ''Enter [player name]'s CQ?''/''Allow [player name] into your CQ?'' thing. ò If that mounts/pets thing wasn't an April Fool, the players' pets also appear, providing they actually are with the players at the time (i.e. a larger pet currently in a stable/kennel would not appear) ò Once the ''station interiors'' part of Incarna arrives, the guest player can leave the CQ by the door instead of just disappearing. ò Both players can go to the hangar walkway thing.
Constructive criticism please, not just an unexplained ''no''. Thanks! =) |

No...
The constructive bit is that Incarna/CQ is supposed to be about immersion... Having chars randomly 'beaming' from room to room breaks that...
You could do something along those lines by having a holographic image of the person your talking to appear in your quarters while talking to them... although what the number limit would be on a conference call would be...
I believe that we should retain the old hanger, thus allowing us to really disconnect when out of our pods... we should HAVE to walk around to get places in Incarna, I don't want to see people teleporting all over the place.
If you disconnect your avatar should just calmly start walking back to your quarters and go lie down on the bed.
If your CEO starts screaming for people to form a fleet to go defend your POS when your sitting at the bar in some seedy nightclub... Then you'd better start running, cos you can't just hit undock and magically appear in your pod.
Anyhow that's my tuppence worth ;-) __________________________________________________

Edited by: Jace Errata on 10/06/2011 23:09:30 Good points, all of which I didn't think of! The hologram is a Good Idea(tm). I'll edit that into the OP. Until the ''station interiors other than CQ'' part arrives though, teleporting will be the only way to get places. Perhaps the guest player could arrive in an otherwise-inaccessible ''anteroom'' directly outside the host CQ's door? Then they wouldn't appear to teleport. Once the corridors and stuff arrive though, it'd switch back to holograms and walking.
Quick note about holograms: How about a full-body hologram if the sender is in their CQ, and a head-only hologram anywhere else (unless they're not in Incarna mode, in which case the option to go places doesn't exist anyway)? EDIT: Failed punctuation.

I was thinking of full body holograms for all the transmitions, but if its a wall screen then heads only would increase the number possible in a conference call.
They are not planning to allow more than 1 person in CQ until they are ready... at which point they will unlock the rest of the station... So teleporting won't ever be needed for that... __________________________________________________

When was there even a speck of doubt that this was an April Fools joke? Can't support any ideas you put forth, you're not right.

We HAVE to walk around stations? Oh, good lord. I think CCP would lose a LOT of customers. We're PILOTS. We play this game to be PILOTS. Not loll about some lame station like a bunch of drunken fops.
When I dock and unload/sell cargo, I'm not the one getting out of my pod doing it. There are tons of people and machinery doing it.
Don't break MY immersion! I'm in a pod filled with goo giving orders to those who aren't ... station SERVICES takes care of things for me. |

There are no more spaceships. We have pod goo NPCs to play the game for us now. Welcome to 4 Walls Online.

I think you misunderstood me... We should have to walk around to get to places and do things in Incarna... we shouldn't Have to go into Incarna in the first place though.

Fair enough. You can walk around stations. I'll stay in my comfortable womb ... er, goo-filled pod. |
