how come 8 turret hardpoints = 16+ weapons that can only fire at a maximum of 8 people at a time, if there is an enemy on the left and right of my ship i should be able to fire at both.
how come weapons go straight through anything I am not targeting to hit ( or miss ) what I am aiming at, you cannot hide behind a titan =(

8 guns = 16 weapons due to firing arc. Each one of your guns has a limited firing arc, they cannot point inwards and fire through the ship, so turrets are mirrored in different places on each ship in EVE, this gives the pilot almost 100% coverage.
As to a shell going straight through one ship to strike at a target, that is entirely down to the needless complexities that line of sight firing would cause in EVE.

Hypercake Mix wrote:Do celestials move?
In EVE, no. Realistic celestial mechanics would make life in EVE very difficult. For a start bookmarks would be entirely useless, and before you say it, remember that any object you warp to anywhere in EVE has a bookmark. Planets, gates, moons all have the equivalent of bookmarks, stationary points in space that do not change.
Having those points in constant motion would require never ending calculations and never ending updates to any and all bookmarks held by over 750 thousand individual pilots. That kind of strain would kill the servers in a matter of minutes. So its easier to just have everything be stationary. |

Speaking of which, if you really are traveling thousands of times faster than light, and light has mass, how much damage do our ships incur by running into photons? Actually this has been answered, something with the warp tunnel being in a different realm or something. Still working out my plan to warp into and orbitally bombard Azaroth
The idea, I believe, is that when our ships warp core activates, it forms a bubble around the vessel and then shunts it in to a lower dimension. From what we see in EVE it appears that the dimensional layers are thin enough that a pilot can see through to the layer above them whilst in warp, like looking through a slightly frosted window.

CONCORD was set-up with the assistance of the Jovian race to ensure the balance of power between the 4 main factions. The other groups were not around when CONCORD was created, and even though they are powerful, they do not have anywhere near as much influence as the Big 4. |

If you are talking about the EVE universe, it doesn't have to be an actual fluid. It could be some kind of superfluid. The warp drives of our ships would create electromagnetic waves that would interact with this superfluid, explaining why we don't keep accelerating and why there is drag. |

The most likely answer is that the Pod has a short lived shield that would protect it long enough to survive the initial explosion of your ship. That is, however, a very different matter than surviving a direct impact from super high velocity kinetic or phased particle weaponry. Much like a compression wave from a bomb detonating might knock you off your feet and make your ears ring, but a direct hit from a much smaller projectile would destroy your head. |

The pine taste is from that little tree hanging off the rear view mirror... The one that someone didn't use when they backed their Bestower into my shiny new Harpy :(
Why does my mighty starship bounce off other mighty starships, but refuses to do the same for things like artillery shells and missiles... I want to pilot a fire ship :)

Any taste in pod fluid would be down to the nutrients suspended in it that sustain us. If yours tastes of pine perhaps its time for a fluid change
As for why starships bounce off each other, that's simple. Shields, most likely navigational ones. Much like the basic deflector array in Star Trek, designed to deflect everything from sub atomic particles all the way up to small asteroids. Our ships would by necessity have a similar arrangement to protect from accidental (or in the case of freighter gankers) purposeful collisions. |

Collisions used to damage ships... turns out the jita undock is a deathtrap.
My pod fluid tastes like gasoline... should I be worried? "A genius throws a Molotov cocktail and soon realizes that he's going to die choking in a maze of smoke and flame. So it's not just intergalactic travel which has been effected, but the physics of the universe on a whole.

I would pay a large amount of isks/body parts to see freighter/BS/Dread ramming the Jita undock causing spectacular amounts of damage and forum threads.

You assume that there was some kind of catastrophe, without considering the possibility that the physics of New Eden aren't just naturally occurring. |

They must be naturally occurring physics... we have a universe full of them...
And since the entire experience is bought to us via mind links or virtual reality of some description it could just be the way the the system portrays the physics to us so we don't have to do hard math.
In fact the entire pod experience is a figment of your ships imagination... we only know its correct cause we see the ships from the CQ.
The railgun/missile/laser trails are just the ship dumbing down for us clones what it sees with its sensors... Same with warping through planets, the ship sees a warp tunnel/hard radiation... it shows us a pretty effect so we don't wig out.... There is no such thing as a fair fight...

Apart from the event horizon of a black hole, wouldn't physics generally remain uniform throughout the structure of a universe? There should be a center, edge, and outer region, all uniform by the laws of physics. My only logical explanation is a theoretical white hole universe, and possibly on another dimensional plane where the laws of physics could have been altered; time and space itself, manipulated. So you have a black hole in this universe, that displaces matter into the exit a connected white hole, forming another universe there. Surely catastrophe for the contributing universe. Theoretically, this other universe could be one-millionth of an inch away from our existing universe, as you could reach out and touch it from where you are sitting.
