I just recently got back into eve after about 7 months and want to get into level 4 missions ( ive done only level 3s before) and i have 2 chars . On one i could fit a Raven and on the other a Dominix). Could you explain me what would be the best choice for a begginner in L4s? To fit thte ship with mostly tech 2 modules except for guns Id need about 2 weeks so my skills are about even on both chars. Any help would be appriciated.

Thing is that with the Caldari you have very consistant damage without having to take spike damage into account. That makes it very easy to build the ship for each mission.
Now do you have 2 accounts or are the 2 chars on the same account? If 2 accounts then box them together and run both ships ;)

I'd say Raven wins by a sliver in terms of mission completion time.Still prefer the Domi every single time though.
Weird that.

I've tried both, with non-perfect skills (T2 Tank, T1 Weapons), and I personally prefer the dominix. The dominix tanks slightly better, doesn't cost you ammo (if you just use drones or go drones/lasers) and deals superior damage in the 25-50km range to a raven (Yes, my missile support skills and caldari bs skills are not that great. With more range on torps, it might be manageable).
At short range, a torp raven will put out more dps, but I have yet to find a mission in my area where all the battleships orbit under 20km. Similarly, if you routinely engage enemies in the 60+km range, the cruise raven is probably better.
For anything else, there's the dominix

How can you people even say such non sense?
It doesn't even have enough powergrid to fit a decent gun dps, crap base armor HP, the only thing hi's good for is to double rep with full rack of med neuts double cap injector and wait until the drones have done the job...are you serious?
Do you feel any fun fighting against your own ship to keep it's integrity while you have no other choice than rely on your drones? You must be masochist or really love the stupid AI, this ship is versatile every one will agree but it's only a paper thin. If you really want to fly something dynamic looking like a battleship is supposed to work then the raven is a MUST have.
Do you guys loving that much drone boats play the game? seriously? -i'll take any of you whenever you want in the same mission and I'm sure I've already salvaged the last gate that your only killing the rats at the second one... Try other thing, skill your gunnery and take another battleship, see the difference by yourself and you'll find out by yourself drone are that boring than ice mining.

I am a bad man. I should learn to bot like a pro like you guys with your macro Ravens in 0.0
I know reading comprehension is not your strong point , but if you lift your bulbous chin up a bit and scroll your cheese smeared mouse up , you will see I've already pointed out the Raven is the faster mission boat.
Keep digging that hole my friend.

Both are capable mission ships. It's more about play style.
Dominix should use sentries to apply it's drone damage (primary damage source) instantly without travel time. Sentries mean you need to stand still. This can be annoying in some missions. On the other side a drone boat means less micromanagement. Call it semi-afk. What annoys me most on drone boats is re-deploying drones when they get aggro and the inability to lower transversal when ships come close. But you have light and medium drones for that case. Popping frigs at range with sentries is fun.
Raven means you can fly towards a mission target (gate to another stage, pickup point) and deal constant damage while doing this. You'd have no range issues. Cruises reach far beyond your lock range. You have free damage choice without side effects (on drone boats different sentries have different range and tracking). Damage is best applied on BSs and BCs, for all below you have drones. Light drones deal with frigs while your missiles are busy with larger targets. Forget the Torp-Raven in solo PvE. Even if you'd have grid and cpu to fit siege launchers together with a working tank...you need 2-3 target painters to make them really work. Also you'd have serious range issues without fitting flight time and/or velocity rigs. Both, rigs + TP, would gimp a Raven's tank too much. Golem is the perfect choice for torps. A bit annoying on missile ships is volley counting. Shooting targets outside a certain range (~50km on a CNR, launcher cycle time vs. missile velocity) means you should (to save ammo) switch of the launcher when you think the last volley will finish the target. In addition: missile PvE is considered as somewhat boring. Precisely because it's style to deal damage is that consistent. But Tengu (fast ship) or Golem (a lot of micromanagement, lots of buttons to push ^^) can be entertaining. Also note: the CNR is able to hold 3 sentries in addition to 5 light drones.
Lastly you should think about progression. What are the high end goals of each route?
Dominix would lead to Navy Dominix or Rattlesnake. Both nice mission ships but not really known as the fastest. Though a Rattlesnake can be fitted to play in the top league: minimal tank, max damage.
Raven would lead to CNR, Golem or maybe Tengu. All really good mission ships. They are able to finish missions in no time. Rattlesnake - with shield tank and missiles - can be considered as part of this route as well. -
Save the missiles from the glowing blob :S

Buy a Tengu. It shouldn't take that long to skill for it seeing as you can fly a raven.
