Im thinking about making an amarr alt. I already have two galente alts, and i know that caldari fails at pvp and i dont really like minmitar. So what would be good reasons to make an amarr alt and good reasons not to make an amarr alt Good joke no pod policy |

It doesnt really matter which race you choose. Everyone can fly every thing if trained for it. So why not just train one of your alts to amarr ships, lasers and cap skills and move down there? That would be faster than training all those support skills again.
That said Amarr are armor tankings and have lasers. Lasers are nice, which ammo cost for t1 is extremely low as the crystals never wear out, but damage is limited to EM and Heat. Their ships are durable, but slow.
reason not to be amarr, they have lasers, which are limited on damage and cap hungry as ...

The battleships make amarr feel awsome. The ships up to that point are honestly underwhelming. We do have a few nice t2 ships though, so if you stick it out there is a reward. Just don't expect the low-sp performance people talk about from the rifter, thrasher, rupture, hurricane, drake, etc.

Edited by: Rebbecca Black on 13/06/2011 07:04:53 Amarr really does take a fair amount of SP invested to be great in pvp, and you really won't have many ships that excel in solo or small gang warfare like minmitar do. That being said.. the Guardian, Zealot, Abaddon, Archon.. those are pillars of fleet warfare so if you end up doing null sec where you have fleets of 200 on 200 (or even larger.) You won't regret training Amarr. If all you're going to do is small gang stuff though go with minmitar as they really do excel in that area.
Question though.. and this is more for anybody and not just the OP.. why alts? Seems like a waste of time to train all the necessary combat support skills, the support gunnery skills, and then make a new alt just because you want to fly a different hull. Just crosstrain one of your gallente combat alts.

Amarr is a good choice if you end up traning up to battleships and above. Hacs are very good too.
T1 cruisers are bad though so until you get a BC (not long) it`s bit painful. Harbinger is excellent BC.
Carrier rocks, Dread is good and supercaps are among best of their classes as well.

Amarr have excellent HACs, Recons, Logis, HIC, Command Ships, superlative Battleships and of course pretty much the best capitals and supercaps. The Harb is not bad, but I prefer the Hurricane or the Drake tbh.
I'm not so keen on the Legion compared to the other T3, but it has it's uses, and of course if you have Leadership skills trained then it can't be beat for maximum armour fleet bonuses.
Gallante -> Amarr should be a pretty easy cross-train, as you should already have the armour, cap and drone skills you will require.
Malcanis' Law: Whenever a mechanics change is proposed on behalf of "new players", that change is always to the overwhelming advantage of richer, older players. |

You are right, there is really not much point in having 2 pvp characters, unless your good at dual boxing or have two computers, even then, I dont know too many who can 'actively' pvp with 2 characters at the same time.
A second account is great dont get me wrong, but use the account as a scout or carebear/builder/logistics alt or capital alt, if you dont want to invest the vast amount of SP needed for capitals on your main pvp character.
The the original poster, I know you said you dont like minmitar, but they are truely the best for small/med gang pvp and some of their ships are actually quite pretty (Sabre anyone?)

There's no reason not to go Amarr.
