Hi, long time eve player here.. I spent a fair bit of time poking around CQ.. Really impressed guys *applause*
I have two suggestions I wanted to make in earnest for things that really frustrate me however.
1. I used to be able to double click to open my cargo, and right click repair my ship, open drone bay .. in 'empty station space' .. Now I have to do a bunch of other clicks to do these two functions (usually via the fitting window, which can lag out).. This really slows me down when I'm combat, hitting a station to repair and need to undock to save my friends ass.. or when I need to login, swap some cargo around and go.. Putting the doubleclick / right click back in, or some other 'single click' function for cargo, repair etc. would help immensely.. even the 'repair' station service kinda sucks since it opens up your 'items' display, and not your active ship.. if you're in home base you gotta scroll though a buncha crap to find the ctive ship to repair..
2. Running, walking faster.. I'm sorry guys, but this has to change.. Walking looks great, but it's slow.. just walking from the quarters to the end of the gangway is painfully slow.. If I have to walk around the grand stations of new eden some day at a snails pace I'm going to be doing a lot of shouting at my computer and cursing CCP's name.. I realize people don't 'run around' everywhere in real life, but this is video game land.. There is a reason every 3d video game under the sun allows you to shift / run and turn on an always run.. ok maybe it doesn't have to be a 'run run' but a brisker walk, i don't know.. but the swggery walk is slow to the point of annoyance and will make walking around the stations frustrating in the long run.
Other than that, great job. and GL with the launch.
PS Lulzsec suck and are all effing losers.

But you don't need to walk anywhere to do all the stuff we are able to do on TQ while docked (and walking won't help with the stuff that's been removed). So why would you? ... If you like choice please support this topic in the Assembly Hall. Thanks.

Well, you realize that CQ is just the beginning, and eventually we'll be able to walk around much larger areas of the station right? Having to do that at a snails pace will be frustrating..
The player base will eventually demand a run function.. CCP are 'trying to be differant' here but this is a classic case of a company trying to do something 'differant' that sacrifices application usability..
Anyways, it certainly doesn't gate the CQ launch, I just hope it's in the plan now and not 6 months down the road when the player base starts demanding it because the environments get larger.

I'm sure there will be all kinds of faster-than-walking conveyances like moving walkways, elevators, etc. for your translation convenience. I mean this is the hi-tech future after all. Plus all the Incarna content will be there for immersion's sake, so the walking will have to be the necessary evil you'll probably have to suffer.
Also, and I realize that this is a matter of personal taste, I have always hated those scenes of player congregations from other MMO's you see on youtube where everyone is running and jumping around. ... If you like choice please support this topic in the Assembly Hall. Thanks.

Edited by: Zora''e on 15/06/2011 23:58:31 CCP has done several things wrong with Incarna.
My observations:
1. Inability to ZOOM or take a closer look at your character (mouse wheel causes the character to slide to a wide angle over the shoulder view)
Hate to say it, but I detest the current view mode. I'd personally prefer to zoom to just above my characters head or go into a First Person view. Leave the Immersion breaking shoulder views for dusties.
2. Graphics Engine (even on lowest settings) requiring to much GPU power.
I'm sitting in station in SISI right now with everything set LOW and my GPU is hitting in the 70c+ range (single client going from non-load at 37c to 70c+ for one client). I can run three clients on TQ right now with identical settings and not reach that kinda temp on my GPU. If I bump my settings on TQ to medium for all three clients, it brings my temps up to the 70c+-range. This means I am going to lose the ability to run three clients simultaneously when this goes live. That also means I will close two accounts as they will effectively be unplayable for me. I doubt I will be the only one that does something similar.
3. Pushing a completely UNFINISHED product out the door and forcing their user base to be beta testers for something most have little or no interest in.
CCP's arrogance is epic if they think this isn't going to cause a shedding of accounts and a great deal of forum rage. Once again CCP shows how little they understand their user base, and push on with something that in my opinion, due to how it is being rolled out, will likely be a total failure. It smells to me like CCP is determined to end their game much like what happened with that one now long since forgotten Star Wars MMO that crashed and burned after Sony forced through crap nobody wanted.
Don't get me wrong. I love EVE, but I am once again reminded why I detest CCP's Vision and the way they handle things. Their actions remind me entirely too much of SOE and that is not a flattering comparison no matter what they may think.

We can only wait for the rest of the TQ populace that gets ****ed up by this to turn up on the forums with their pitchforks. CCP didn't react to any of our diplomatic requests for clarification along that line for the past weeks and I doubt they will until this **** hits the fan. Must have something to do with those Viking genes..
Looking forward to GD on the 21st/22nd. Already ordered a keg and popcorn.

LOL I went and bought some more popcorn and on the 21st my homebrew should be just about ready so i'll be sitting here watching the massive **** storm that is gonna hit GD as well. I suspect it will be followed by an almost equally massive closing of accounts (even if only temporary). -

I don't know bout you guys, but I think the Lighting needs to be adjusted as well. Or the shadows need a rework.
My alt is a Minmatar female with high cheekbones. Looks kinda cute in pictures (least in my opinion).
Now unfortunately...unfortunately.... When I loaded up that account, in station and started walking around with her... I was left... vastly disappointed. Don't get me wrong, I personally kinda liked their idea to add walking in stations. Yes it doesn't do a terrible lot in a "useful" perspective, but its nice and it adds a good feel to who you are as a pilot. (I know lame w/e don't care) It also to me adds an outlet for people who want a more in-game type machinama(Sp?), kinda like clear skies. Though in that instance the lack of running would also be problematic :P An emergency alarm and your pilot is dawdling along to their pod? Uh....huh...
Anyway I'm rambling. The problem I run into is thus. My character looks WONDERFUL in a well lit spot. However whenever I get to a spot where there the light would be blocked or there would be even a hint of a shadow, the high cheekbones essentially occlude the light from lighting up below them. Thus she takes on almost an apish appearance. May be funny to some yeah, but it looks hideous. It can be fixed (somewhat) with adjusting her appearance and shifting the cheekbones down, but then she doesn't look as good and it still doesn't fix the shadow problem entirely.
Anyway I think the lighting/shadow system needs to be adjusted so that characters don't look ridiculous when shadows hit them.

I agree with Locutus Lindsey, the lighting does look odd at some points.
Something else, I'd like to be able to close the door to the hangar, somehow it just feels cold when it's always open...

Actually u can still do that with 1 more click involved: open up the ship window from ur neocom, it can do all the things u described. And just 1 click away. I hope this helps speed up things for u!
