Seriously, what is the deal with CCP coming forth with these crazy ideas to make more money? Is Iceland that broke? Do we need to send money or care packages? Are you guys all out of fermented sharkfin?
Not content in charging us Aurum (real money) for ships they now launch a "creative boost" to the community. They would like the players to pay them to create and use third party aps, even you just ask for ISK donations. After all ISK is now real money!
Where does CCP draw the line, I can easily just forward my paycheck so you can choose a percentage of it! But try to be gentle I like to buy a big screen tv this year and build a house in the future. In an interview I read that CCP feels 'that people want to pay more for their hobby' I feel that statement is a skewed version of reality built upon by managers and wizards (possibly unicorns).
People don't want to pay more for hobbies, people are forced to pay more for their hobbies. I would love to pay 0 dollars for my hobbies but reality and economic principle won't allow that. The cheaper you keep EVE the happier I will be. Because that means I have money to spend on other stuff like a bigger screen, better computer etc, hey perhaps even several accounts and if you must, a paint job here and there.
Don't make the mistake of listening to Biz Dev managers, we don't enjoy shelving out cash for something that is often broken; shelving out more cash for more stuff would not make me a happier capsuleer. I would be happy if you'd expand the BFF thricefold and set them on the stuff you have been promising or hinting at for years.
- Faction warfare - More Tech III - Storylines and events - Balancing issues (everybody knows what they are, caps, gallente, AF's, etc)
What is even more sad is the clueless backpeddaling that is happening as soon as they announce these things to the public and everybody rises up to contest their shifted view of reality. Anybody and I do mean ANYBODY that didn't anticipate what exactly all the reations of the public would be to these announcements should not work at CCP.(Janitors, lunchladies or CEO's may be excluded)(I love my EVE CEO's)

They are monetizing their business and the massive amount of work they are putting in to make this game better.
Wtf is everyone's problem? Is society this pathetic that the notion of a company striving for growth and profit is "wrong?"
Get a fking life.

As they say, the devil's in the details. More precisely, those that (in the initial draft, which was NOT presented as first draft but as stone tablet-like commandments) dealt with sites/apps that barely stay at break-even (or not even break even, but get some ISK instead, so it almost sort of evens out) and THEIR obligation to also pay a fee that's basically worth 9 months of EVE sub per year. _

You obviously have not followed the latests developments of their idea of a businessmodel, they aren't doing it right, they are launching initiatives that are not only crazy but are backpeddaled so fast they are stilborn.
So obviously CCP themselves are in need of a good internal brainstorm. Unless they want to treat their website as their testserver. ------------------------------------------------- A friend of death, a brother of luck and a son of a *****

When did they actually make the game "Better"? Just wondering, cause for the last three or four years, all I've seen is bugdate after bugdate. (Bugdate is defined as an update that introduces more bugs than it fixes.)
When it requires 5 patches, to patch the original patch, I think there is a problem.

They didn't start out eve-online as a buisness, it started out as a couple of guys wanted to make an internet spaceship game that rocked, was something unique and awesome, this buisness side of eve has come only recently (last couple of years or so) and i think people that argue that one out loud, that game developers are a buisness, really have no clue as to how much real money companies like this make in a month.
EVE has now become a micro-transaction mmo but with a monthly fee on top of everything else as well, I think most people would rather just have a slighly increased monthly sub fee and be done with it at that, without all these new little fees that keep crawling out of the woodwork.
EVE is changing, the type of people that now play eve, are changing, you either adapt, or you quit, in the next 12 months, i can see a heck of a lot of people quiting eve, in an unpressidented way that eve-online hasn't seen before, but the devs wont be affected by this because of the walking in stations that will attract the new type of subscriber so CCPs person loss, well, they wont be at a loss, but the playerbase is just about to do a 180 on everything. Yeah whatever...
Thing is, they're not making the game better by continually putting in new **** without ever actually allcating significant resources into fixing the current version. They're also not making it better by engaging in all these shenanigans they're throwing out recently.
Feels like CCP's heads are losing focus. They're listing to the ****ing suits too much and not enough to their community. That's the reason for all the flak they're getting at the moment.

The extra hotkeys and the new Contracts search feature were pretty good. As is the upcoming Agent Finder.

Yes, they are, but really that's a pretty minor fix, when you look at all the major fixes that have been left unaddressed for 8 years. Most people I know are more interested in actually fixing gameplay...

Lonely stars in a very dark and cold universe of features that need updating / fixing badly. Seriously the list is so freaking long it's just not funny any more. And it keeps growing, unfortunately.
What they need to do is but people like TomB and Oveur back at the front and more in charge. Things were going better when they were lurking around here. Seems they were much better at listening to the folks and acting accordingly.
