Can still log in, use website.
Either LulzSec is lulfailing, they've eased up on the DDoS at times, or we're seeing the effects of countermeasures from CCP. Time will tell, and its a long evening.

surely CCP with their considerable technology and profits can put some system in to repel this kind of attack??
they are going to have to if they dont want this every 24 hours...
DDoS attacks are kind of hard to "repel". Its like supercarriers, whoever has the most bandwith available wins.
In which case we can look forward to CCP slowly going out of business as subscribers become intolerant to all the disconnects. In fact, on that basis, lulz and his ****tard friends could knock EVE off permanently I assume? Bye bye MMO's potentially?

Indeed. I hope these are CCP measures, and not LulzSec not using full power. "A fool flatters himself, a wise man flatters the fool." |

The DDoS attack doesn't takes the server down. It slows it down to a crawl and makes clients crash. CCP takes the server down. ____________

They already "attacked" the federal government, but from the things I've heard they're more focused on anon atm. Could be wrong. Anon tends to go after business and government, which no doubt puts them higher on the feds give-a-**** list.

Welcome to the internet, this kinda stuff has gone on for a long time. Any site can be taken down, it doesn't take a lot of skill just big enough bot net.
TBH, you are just lucky it doesn't happen more often, specially in a game like this.

Very intermittent here, logs in slow, stutters and throws me back out. Rinse repeat.
Oh well, one less strain on the server - going to watch TV.
In the meantime - someone find this prick and clatter him.

about half of the people in our fleet seem to be affected and get disconnected/have trouble reconnecting while the other half has no issues at all

Edited by: Valliac Fenders on 15/06/2011 20:56:12 I'm cool with CCP pulling the plug if it means all out details are safe.
This game is not worth my credit card details. It's worth my money, yes. But not my details being leaked.
EDIT: Oh, and I can login to the forums and game just fine, with no lag. The kids are getting bad.

Lulzsec went after Senate.gov and an external FBI site (run by a third party). Thanks to jerks like these, though, the US government will start putting draconian measures into place that'll charge you with "cyberterrorism" for using a P2P to download a song illegally. Worse yet, an off switch.

I'm 99% sure CCP's account database is different to the personal information database...
That is why they took the services offline yesterday, to ensure no information was leaked... they had a problem like this before awhile ago but they won't allow it again.
