The text seems to overlap itself, at first I thought it was the desired look, after navigating away and returning to the page however it seems to be an intermittent formatting error. (IE8) The EVE web links on the upper right, I like them; all the important links all in one place. (Albeit with different logins and different looks for every page linked) I liked it when all pages had a similar look to them, felt more polished, complete. I am sure that all sites will have this new look eventually. I dislike my card info being displayed. "MC ****1234" I would prefer if it just said "Paying with credit card" and linked to the subscription info from there. Why bother displaying "my current IP address" along the bottom of the page?
Other than that it looks fine, after using it im sure it will be as easy to use as the old way. |

I agree with some of the others in here, the color scheme is kind of godawful. It's way too bright for an Eve website, IMO, and the pink background burns. The huge text bugs me a bit too, but that might just be me.
Other than that, great job. I like the new layout, though I'm still a bit iffy on it compared to the old one.
One thing that was said that I think is worth saying again -- please try to make some consistency between your sites. Each one right now is completely different.

We - want - it - black!!! We - want - it - black!!!
Eve online has a beautifull, dark, sci-fi atmosphere... I think the site pages must reflect that.
Other: The interface is a little confusing, I'd try to give more importance to the upper menu.

To all of you who are intimidated by mentally handicapped children like Lulzsec - please remember that CCP was only DDOSd, not hacked in any way and CCP disconnected all its services from the internet when it found out it was under attack. CCP is not Sony, and Lulzsec are trolls lacking any kind of balls.
But, nontheless, will there be an option to remove credit card info from CCP's servers?

Edited by: Terion Fierceglade on 17/06/2011 07:24:28 Apart from it not looking like an EVE site anymore I thought it was really good. Much easier to navigate (even though it wasn't exactly hard before) and more buttons to click.
Edit: Clicking on the link in the Newsletter brings you to the old Account Management btw. Might be a good idea to change that.

The character images being used are the 128 pixel square ones, from the "image.eveonline.com" domain:
https://image.eveonline.com/Character/90081878_128.jpg
However, on the account home page they are scaled to 140x140 pixels, making the portraits look blurry and even disorted on older browsers ( and the in-game one ). Upscaling sux, always !
http://eve.wavetrex.eu/140x140.png
--- Perhaps leaving them at 128x128 and just spacing them out a bit more would be a nice idea from the design perspective?
HTML code being used now: <img height="140" width="140" title="Quadima" alt="Quadima" src="https://image.eveonline.com/Character/90081878_128.jpg">

LOL...CCP isn't a "high-profile target". Lulzsec only DDoSed the servers, which is exactly the same as a 100k people trying to log in at once. CCP shut down the servers just as a precaution. As Lulzsec stated, they only DDoSed the server to **** us off and make us whine about the server being down.
Remember that the servers were not compromised from this attack, just lagged way the hell out.
Although I do agree with you and others about adding the ability to remove all Credit Card information from the site/database. It would definitely help protect people should the servers really be compromised.

New account page looks good. Right upon login I see status of my acc, subs interval and when exactly my account expire. But is there a specific need why that popup bar saying "Please log in" or that password change failed etc, has to be pink ?
And how many passwords are kept in history? If I want to use password that I already used before, how many new passwords I have to use before I can reuse old one ?

Your sentence was incomplete. Here's the rest: again and again, at every other second for several hours on end. It is not exactly the same. Have another cluestick.

Same with doubleclick.net and google-analytics.com.
Please pull out the 3rd party scripts from the account management area and do your metrics stuff in-house for this section.
And, to repeat myself, please change the behavior of the site to prevent a user from simply using their browser's back button to gain access to the last viewed account page after having logged out. Once I click the log out link, I expect to NOT have access to any of my account information w/o having first re-submitted my access credentials.

(1) YOU BROKE BUDDY INVITES. I get to the popup page, do the enter an email and select the character name (the select is a PAIN, took me a couple minutes to figure out how to use it as NOTHING SHOWS UP 'till you scroll down to where a selection is at, VERY POOR DESIGN there), hit the send invite button, it depresses - and NOTHING HAPPENS.
Also, where is the choice of PLEX vs. 30 days at?
(2) your "new visual standards" make the new version of account management VERY SLOW TO LOAD. "more graphics" is NOT always a good idea.
(3) Where is "hours for PLEX" at? I am forced to use that far too often after a huge patch, and now I can't find it at all.
Did y'all bother TESTING this "upgraded page" before you decided to inflict it on us? WAY TOO MANY ISSUES that should have been OBVIOUS if you actually TESTED this hunk of junk.

This is far from the first time I've brought it up, and I've PETITIONED it a couple times now only to get blown off about it.
I disagree with you on this point, I think it adds more than ZERO to security. This (afaik) happens only when you login from new IP. So in case somebody gets your login info somehow, they may not be able to login (given that they dont have API key/know what chars you have there) and do any harm to your account. So imho I dont see any reason why this should be removed. And if you are everytime logging from different IP than well sry to say but its your problem. I safelly assume this is not case for majority of players.

Update: Disregard my previous question. I found an answer.

CCP Spitfire,
still got some unexpected behavior with the account management, like 'undo cancel subscription' menu item on an active account.
So are you still keeping an eye on this thread? Otherwise i'll bugreport it if that is at all possible...

Will it be possible to keep one's billing cycle, but change the CC card info? As I understand it now, one would have to cancel a billing cycle and create a new one. Will those two billing cycles connect seamlessly, or would one have to wait until a day before next billing to end and create a new cycle? Good to know if for example one loses the card and have to close it at the bank and get a new one.

Once again myself and the team working on this thank you for all your comments and feedback. There's been some really good points raised here that we are definitely taking on board for future fix updates and features :) Just to follow up on a couple of specifics:
- There were some Internet Explorer 7/8 issues that have now been resolved
- We fixed the clicking back after logging out issue - you'll have this update very soon
- I had the relevant people investigate and confirm that the SSL certificate is correct and valid. If you are having issues relating to SSL certificates for any our websites, please submit a petition straight away to Customer Support for assistance
Thanks!

Pink stuff has to go.. as fast as possible..
Where did the remaining hours go? I actually have had use of that multiple times.
Why does it look like battle.net or something created by codemasters? I dont like it. Darken it down and make it look like EVE again please. |

What version of Firefox are you using? So I can have this checked out and if there is a bug there we'll get it into the fix queue.
Thanks

I'm still looking for where the allegeded "improvement" in this new version of Account Management is at.
The new page is SLOWER TO LOAD (which is saying a lot, the OLD page was bloody slow), the layout quite bluntly looks like it was designed by a child, the text being SO bloody huge makes teh pages so bloody huge they don't fit on a 1600x1200 screen any more and makes them a LOT slower to use.
The pulldown stuff like when you try to enter your birthdate on the new account page is INVISIBLE until you scroll over it - that's not "modern design", that's bloody INCOMPETANT PROGRAMMING, and the OLD site did not do that - just for one example of an issue I've seen that sticks in my mind.
IMO this "new improved page" was a total waste of time and effort on CCPs part, and does NOTHING to actually improve it's usability, and in the case of the "popup" junk it's a lot HARDER to read due to the transparent background the "popup" stuff uses.
I dunno what "manual of modern web site design" CCP is claiming to go by, but if this new page is an example than the manual in question must have been written by someone that's never had the chance to USE a well-designed USABLE website.
