I want an honest response to the following hypothetical questions.
If I were to Donate a few million US Dollars to CCP would they then be able to hire more people and turn out expansions faster and in better quality?
I realize that money dose not solve anything and money can't fix stupid but I still wonder sometimes if having more money and to that end more resources would in any way help CCP become more efficient at their job.
They are rolling out Incarna 1 CQ at a time and it's taking so long for them to do so when most larger gaming Devs would take a fraction of the time. I wonder is money and man power a factor?
If I wanted to directly influence gameplay changes could I not just Buy CCP? "Sorry, Your Sov Options are Unavailable due to a PSN Outage."

Edited by: Alpine 69 on 16/06/2011 12:59:19 I'm not sure what kind of type firm CCP games is, but if they have shares for sale then you should be able to go ahead and buy 51%. As a result of that you should be able to exert some major influence over their decision making. -

Money and man power is always a factor.
How money and man power is used is also a factor.

They are working on rolling DUST out next year some time.
They are working on making EVE free to pay and yet profitable at the same time to coincide with free to play DUST roll out.
They are working on making their 'stuff' less hackable.
So, you see, they have their hands full working on all these things at the same time.

they're clearly spending more time implementing micro transactions than they are doing anything content wise. giving them a few million wouldn't change anything

If you offer enough money to the shareholders, they will sell you their shares until you have enough to control the company. Same as with every other company.
Giving them directly some money just like this? I don't think that this will work. They will pocket your money and continue their usual way, nothing will change. |

NO, money is not the problem here. If you would donate them a few millions, nothing would change. They probably would spend it on some new projects, but not on EVE.
Thats what they do since the bought Whitewolf.

So if I gain at least 51% of the shares then they will have to answer to me on things?
Dose it really work like that? "Sorry, Your Sov Options are Unavailable due to a PSN Outage."

Whether their shares are up for sale or not is entirely up to their shareholders.
I don't feel like writing the same post for the third or fourth time, so here is a link to one of its previous incarnations.
Also CCP has placed several bonds over the years and almost certainly has outstanding debt with banks - buying shares might net you some influence but CCP's creditors certainly would like to have a word with you push the management into going non-profit.

If I were a multi millionaire I would reach out to CCP to offer them a few million to make targeted improvements to the game that are commonly requested by the subscriber base. I would also ask for it in writing that the millions go toward Eve online.

You would be wise to send the money directly to my personal account. I know this company in and out so I would be good at distributing the money for you. Special favor for you, my friend.

Problem is, that you would have to cash-out at least 2 Investment Companies, Novator Partners and General Catalyst Partners who are active investors as they prolly are more interested in RoI and not content of a game.

First you must send him 1 million of your own money. He will then double this and return it to you

Many happiness my friend! If it will be possible for you to assist us, we would be most grateful. We suggest that you meet with us in person in Lagos Reykjavik, and that during your visit I introduce you to the representatives of the Nigerian Icelanding National Petroleum Company, as well as with certain officials of the Central Bank of Nigeria Icelanding.
Please call me at your earliest convenience at 18-467-4975. Time is of the essence in this matter; very quickly the Icelanding Government will realize that the Central Bank is maintaining this deposit, and attempt to levy certain suppository taxes on it!
Yours truly,
Prince Alyusi Islassis

Of course the more money CCP has, the more it can invest in hardware, personnel and resources. This would help Eve, Dust and WoD and any other gaming projects (you could probably specify that the money only go into Eve development if you wish). CCP is a company made by gamers, and it tries to invest as much money as it can back into the games it's making.
I'm not aware of any great need for donations and I'm not exactly sure how those are handled, but I'm sure it would be of help though. So if you have a few million lying around that you'd like to get rid of for a good cause, feel free to donate .

With the current Icelandic real ISK down the drain wouldn't a few million buy Reyjavik?
Also at CCP: Nice tries, but it is clear I should hold the money and then give it to trustworthy characters like TOMB and Hellmar (well maybe not hellmar hed use it to fund a cosplay event) ------------------------------------------------- A friend of death, a brother of luck and a son of a *****
