Do you have advice on how to sucessfully engage and destroy a T3 1v1 (in a timely manner; under 5 minutes)
Assume we're in a belt. Assume you can field any ship under 200mil. Assume that the T3 is buffer or active tanked.
(is this even possible?).
If anyone has direct experience doing this, please reply. Also if you say "Neut domi", plz outline the fit and engagement tactics.

Just like with everything in EVE " It depends "
if its an active tank a nueting Domi with webs may be able to do it

Edited by: Coffin Fodder on 17/06/2011 19:09:48 If facing a 1M ehp setup, not gonna happen. Generally speaking however, a cookie cutter nano-curse should suffice. It will take a few minutes, especially if they are buffer fit but you should manage. Obviously passive shield tanked tengus are off limits and even an active one may pose problems for you. I have found the nano-cane fairly effective against active tanked tengu's. The dual medium neuts kill off their cap stability and then they just die. Buffer tengu's are pretty much untouchable 1v1, just too much EHP, shield recharge, dps and range to really go after solo. Not saying you should try though, both a curse and a nano-cane should be able to retreat if it doesn't go well thanks to neuts.
I do find it a little odd that you are asking about t3's specifically. Most belt ratters use BC's or BS's. And in that sitation it's pretty much the same deal. Attack all but you probably won't be successful against any passive shield tanked missile boats. I'd also add the domi to the do not touch list, it could always be a neut domi and those will rip either the curse or the nano-cane up.
Edit: King Rothgar here if anyone cares.

It would depend on which TIII, how it is fit, and how competent the pilot is. You could kill it with a Battlecruiser. ~~~

Right - so it boils down to nanocane, neut domi or bhaal if i want to spend the isk...
how does a nanocane fare against a brick/active proteus?

While this is a terribly vague discussion, you don't need anything that fancy. An active taked Brutix could do it. But again.... it depends on the fit and the players skill.

If it's active tanked and not a missile spammer, use a dual med neut Hurricane. Other option is Myrmidon but I'd probably go for that option if he was buffer fit. Might be able to do it with a nice Sac set up as well depending what it is.

Edited by: Roosterton on 17/06/2011 20:11:59 Tengu: Pin it down with lots of webs, neut it, and DPS it with a Domi/Typhoon.(Pinning it down is the hard part, though, 100MN ab fits might be able to escape)
Laserlegion: Curse/Pilgrim, stop it from hitting you, neut its lasers out, and bleed it to death.
HAMlegion: Any decently tanked kiting ship, which will force it to use javelin HAMs and do negligible DPS. (or laugh in his face if he didn't bring javelin HAMs.) Use a Curse to neut it out if it has an active tank.
Proteus: Long range short scram makes this tricky. I'd roll with a Curse that has a RF/Domination point, being very sure to keep him neuted, TD'd, and >23km away at all times. Proteuses can be ridiculously tanked, so this might take longer than 5mins.
Loki: Neut Domi against a webbing armor fit (Making his webs as pointless as possible) or Curse vs. a kiting fit (to pin him down/stop him from hitting you.)
Edit: And yes, I like my Curses. -------- Enemy corps raided into disbandment: Three.

Basi + Myrm V Abbadon Tengu Manticore Drake
Also Shield logi for armor myrm = fantastic idea
EDIT: Watched the video and... it KILLS the tengu. What the **** are you complaining about ------------------------------- When I mitigate risks in business, they call me financially sound. When I mitigate risk in PVP, they call me a coward.

OK, I watched the video. I don't know how you can link that as an example with a straight face Myrm kills it before dying, WTF is wrong with you?
EDIT: It's situational, not much more to discuss here without being vague and meaningless. If you wan't to use video's as a reference go look up Prometheus Exenthals last video to see him killing a TIII in a Brutix (although I think it was a Proteus). ~~~

It is certainly possible to take out low-sec unprobable mission running Tengus/Loki's in a couple of circumstances,
a) As they dock/undock with appropriately positioned sniper fit Tempest/Machariel
b) As they cross gates with a BlackOps BS
However more general PVP fit ships are a different matter,

Edited by: Devil tiger on 18/06/2011 07:54:28 A curse with two med neuts and any other ship as dps support will usually do just fine. It might take a bit too long for the curse alone to kill that neutered Tengu.

Curse kill tengu... ofc.
Generally - properly fitted and piloted t3 will kill any ship you can get under 200mil. You can try it as most people are incompetent, best bet would be bc/bs with alot of webs and neuts.

Curse can probably take on most tech 3s tbh, tengu would be the toughest.

I use an AC & neut phoon, works well but proteus/legion tanky fits can still take aaages at kill, but luckily once caught they can't do a lot except sit and die. Scram, web and neut the crap out of them, then open a few km range and limit their transversal as much as possible. Tengus die very quickly with RFEMP ammo once the hardeners are shut down. Purely passive recharge fits will probably take a lot longer, but I haven't come across one yet, so can't confirm how long they take to die. Shield lokis melt reasonably quickly, armour lokis can be quite nasty though, you need to rely on your huge battleship ehp and you will probably lose 2/3 or your armour buffer before they die. In all cases getting the initial tackle is the hardest part if you're solo as it takes bloody ages to lock a T3 in a battleship. A disposable alt / corpmember goes a long way
