Edited by: Diablo Ex on 17/06/2011 19:21:18 Ever since the recent update and subsequent patches I have had issues with the client and my graphics drivers. I have attempted to find solutions, and all indications are that it is something in the game code that my system doesn't like. When I jump a gate, or undock, and the session changes, I am greeted with this message...
I'm running an Acer Aspire 7741Z Notebook, with Windows System 7 Home Premium 64 bit, and Intel HD Graphics. All of my other games are working just fine, as was EvE up till this last upgrade. I fear that come the 21st, I will be unable to play at all if this doesn't get resolved.
Edit: Why the game client is insistent upon running in XP compatibility mode is beyond comprehension. ________________________________ I want a button that will force you to undock out of the station so I can shoot you.

Have the same problem as yourself on my laptop which is an asus a52f. series. with Windows System 7 Home Premium 64 bit and Intel HD Graphics. Even get that error when logging in, although its always completely random, can never pin point what action is causing it, whether that be auto pilot or manual.

I've been getting this problem, mainly when jumping through stargates and jumpbridges.
A temporary fix I've been using is every time I press jump, I hit the ESC key straight after and bring up the settings window. You can still see whats going on in game as it's semi-transparent. Hit ESC after you've loaded grid to minimise it again. So far, I haven't crashed when doing that.

Same issue as well, PvP isn't fun when you can't leave the system without a 3-minute delay and a 50/50 of having to restart the client.

A friend of mine had a similar problem with his laptop when trying to run a game a while back, I think the problem in the end was the laptop not being able to render shader model 2.0 (like i said, it was a while back) and process heavy data from the game during transitions all at the same time, the laptop had to cut something off in order to process, and it always cut off the graphics.
Dunno if you've tried it (I imagine some have) but try tuning down your graphical settings to the bottom then using a jump gate, if the problem doesn't arise when doing so, slowly turn up each graphical setting in turn and jump until a time when it crashes again, when that happens it indicates the game is running at the peak your computer/laptop is able to handle Eve with shader model 3.0.

Edited by: shaun 27 on 23/06/2011 18:41:34 Thought i show you guys might solve your problems not mine it seems :(. looks like no more eve for me shame really i could run 3 accounts before incarna.
Im afraid the problem is with your graphics card as is with most Intel graphics cards when playing EVE, and sadly we do not have a workaround for this. In some cases the following workarounds have shown some success in stopping problems with the Intel graphics card, but sadly not all:
1. Install the latest available graphics card driver from either www.intel.com or your manufacturers site website.
2. Start Eve in Safemode or set Shader Quality to Low.
3. Run the client in windowed mode (Alt+Enter can be used to switch to windowed mode when the client starts up for the first time)
4. Disable power saving features for the Intel Graphics Chipset.
5. Untick "Sun occluded by ships" in EVE's graphics settings.
6. Install a Windows patch from: http://code.msdn.microsoft.com/KB961894/Release/ProjectReleases.aspx?ReleaseId=2067
7. Update your DirectX from: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/en/details.aspx?FamilyID=2da43d38-db71-4c1b-bc6a-9b6652cd92a3
If none of the above suggestion help I'm afraid there's nothing we can do to solve this issue for you.
Best regards,

Edited by: Artificial Soldier on 23/06/2011 19:06:54 Looks like the same issue being discussed in: http://www.eveonline.com/ingameboard.asp?a=topic&threadID=1524244
Basically every time I go through a gate I get the same message. Since Incarna+patches, I get it when starting the game client though. It's not quite unplayable, but I've gotten to the point where I am pretty hesitant to make any trips that are more then a few jumps..
Otherwise, update drivers, updated patches, directx is current so, if this is truly a problem with Intel graphics then that'd be pretty unfortunate :( |

Hi all Intel video driver users.
I had the same problem as all of you: Edited by: Diablo Ex on 17/06/2011 19:21:18 Ever since the recent update and subsequent patches I have had issues with the client and my graphics drivers. I have attempted to find solutions, and all indications are that it is something in the game code that my system doesn't like. I got my game up and running without problems when changed video card settings on Win7: start -> write: video -> start: view the name of video card -> Advanced settings -> Intel(R)... tab -> Graphic settings -> 3D -> Custom settings -> Texture quality: Performance, Anisotropic filtering: 16x, Vertex Processing: Enable software prosessing, Vertical Sync: On.
Affter that I did not get any error messages on game. Game wont look so cool now but at least it is playable. I am sure someone know easyer way to change those settings and find out with what settings game works best. I will do some more testing as well later on.

Tested these setting launching the client and did not get the video driver crash. Currently downtime, so will test and update later, but looks promising. Thanks for the heads up. |

Yeh, I had a bug report raised and it is a known issue with CCP. The response I got back was that they have added my bug report to the known issue.
Unfortunately it doesnt help me atm as I pew a bit and this has made it unplayable, so one of my accounts has already run outta time and im hoping they pop the fix in before this one runs outta credit, else its game over :o(

Hi CCP guys,
Do we have any further ETA on when there is to be a fix out for this. Its quite a serious issue if it affects 2 major video card brands (ATI and Intel HD). This wasnt a problem until we updated to the new graphics engine, so its obviously something introduced in this code. Ironically my laptop is only 9 months old and now cant play eve properly which is pretty hopeless.
It may be worthwhile putting a disclaimer in the minimum specs that it may not work well with certain Intel HD or ATI graphics cards... (Maybe not as they would find this out in the trial).
Im keeping my last account running with plex brought from isk in the faint hope that you may fix this bug then I can reactivate my others with GTC's again....please dont give up on us

I reported a similar problem here: http://www.eveonline.com/ingameboard.asp?a=topic&threadID=1546044 , last night I didn't use eve voice when in comms, instead I used TS3 and I didn't black screen once. When using eve voice I will invariably blackscreen upon jumping or undocking, if it doesn't blackscreen it shows the system I am jumping to, then the screen goes black, flicks briefly onto the desktop screen, then loads the system I have jumped into. The initial showing of the system I have jumped into shows a different placement of ships on the gate from when it finally loads by a significant amount. E.g initially ships appear to be about 30 km off gate then they appear to be at zero. I will try the suggestions posted.

The workarounds didn't work for me. There was a rumor that the Intel HD Graphics does not support Shader 3.0 which is what EVE is currently using. I am currently looking for fixes/workarounds and found that the graphics card actually supports up to Shader Model 4.0 (http://communities.intel.com/thread/19327)
So this issue is fixable at CCP end depending how much resources CCP want to throw at this issue.

On the Start Menu select Intel Control Center, then click on Intel HD Graphics application. When it opens, click on 3D, then check the "Custom Settings' box, and select the options as recommended.
Fix seems to have worked for me on my HP laptop, but will report back in few days if problem returns, particularly when i run dual clients, ts3, and other programs simultaneously. This is after all, a work computer :)

Edit: Just caught our CTO between meetings and got an official response from him.
Players having issues with Intel Graphics Chip Sets can try to work around it by activating Vertical Sync in the Graphic Chip settings, which reduces the workload of the GPU. Additionally you are advised to turn off GPU intensive tasks like Cloth Simulation ("Display & Graphics"->"Character Creation Settings"->turn off "Physically Simulated Cloth and Hair").
I don't understand this issue at all. How does something like this, among other issues like (GPU Heat issues, GPU FPS drops/spikes, Anti-Aliasing issues) happen just by introducing CQ? Did you guys tweak some of the core graphics rendering code? and if so, why?

I fixed this on advice from another forum member. I use Intel R HD Graphics in a HP Probook 6450B.
in my taskbar i have an icon for my graphics, right click it, then go to graphics properties. then go to 3d. Tick "custom settings"
I use:
Texture Quality: Performance Anisotropic Filtering: 2x Vertex Processing: Enable Software Processing Vertical Sync: On
No more crashes for me.
