A fair point, on the other hand, God forbid people have some fun with their internet space ships. Were "so many players" locked in a sissy wormhole to train for this? The tournament is about letting one team rise above everyone else, and that's what happened. Nice work too Hydra Reloaded!

First: Both teams deserved the win cause they fought good to get to the finals. So: My honest congrats!
On the other hand you guys crashed the great show - which it was until the final. The spectators watched this in order to be entertained. Therefore it isn't whine, what the others do... It's disappointment for having spent time to see such a bad show.
You failed badly to entertain your audience!
I mean, during the matches there have been people (which were obviously loosing) been told to turn around, go back to the field and f***ing die like a man. If you work together (which to me is not a problem at all) you should have at least delivered each other a real fight and silently share the prices afterwards.

Deny them the prizes.
I 100% Agree.
Have the runner-ups fight it out - Darkside VS Razor and give us a real fight.

So feel free to walk away with one set of prizes for your one team.
I'm sure the other runner ups will want those prizes.
Load of non-sense. Your FC cried his guts out on the forum apologetically. Sad and pathetic. I don't see any A-Team there.
I see a couple spoiled brats.

This is EVE Online. Things never happen as you may assume. That is why there is "EVE" and then there is everything else.
Uh, ya, not the first time a game was rigged in the world. EVE has nothing to do with this.

Let's not forget the trillions in prizes being handed out - to some ego-tistical pricks who can't just fight it out like men in front of 30k people.
Shameful.
Only a childish mind is entertained by this, or by the idea of the "QQ". Again, the Hydra FC cried his guts out - he's the one QQ-ing, and EVE community is trolling him.
You all got it backwards.
And there was no "meta-game" here. What the hell was the meta in the game.
There was a few kids who made an agreement - woooptiee doo.
Whatever - rubbish. CCP better come down on them hard for this.

I found the final match rather disappointing. Imo, both teams should be disqualified and the 2 teams who lost the semi finals should fight in a new final.

Watched only 1 1/2 matches that's how interesting Alliance Tournaments have been for me over the last few years.
If you are complaining that it sucked maybe you shouldn't have watched .

Great job Hydra & 0utbreak. Hard work and dedication took you to the finals, skill and intelligent gaming took you to victory.
The champions of EVE gameplay indeed. |

I think to deny either team their prizes would quite simply not be in the spirit of EvE |

I feel genuinely sorry for CCP who spend a lot of money streaming and presenting this over several days. Despite the ômeta gaming is part of EvEö excuse, the final and a couple of the other fixed matches, were not fun to watch nor were they a credit to the sponsors who put money into the tournament coverage. A sad time, and with an online user count nowhere near what was expected a worrying sign that things are on the slide.
If subsequent tournaments are to be conducted in such a fashion where ômeta gamingö determines outcomes, DO NOT SHOW IT ON TV, keep it behind the scenes and just announce the results. I would rather see the money CCP spent on the coverage and production costs go back into core game development.
There are some easy fixes to stop some of the blatant match throwing:- 1)A self-destruct loses the team points value of the ship lost as well as giving the opponent the same points as a kill. 2)A boundary violation loses the team points equal to the value of the ship destroyed. 3)CCP Adjudicator reviews matches and can ban teams blatantly fixing a match ( stops the final debacle as both would be disqualified and forfeit all prizes ). Teams will then need to think more creatively about how they throw a match so as not to get banned and ejected from the tournament.

"This team clearly was too bad to participate in the alliance tournament, let's ban them" Sounds like a freaking great idea!
And just to be sure I'm being clear here: Does that mean that teams get banned if their FC makes bad target calls?

Greniard, I refer the word BLATENT. It's not hard to spot a thrown match, the Conga match in the earlier rounds and the final are two clear examples. Its not rocket science.

I am not really familiar with the rules of AT so let me ask: Did they violate any rules? If yes why CCP let them to play the final? If not why everyone blame them?

No rules were broken Charons Obol, The bad feelings of many are more for how they went about it. They could have easily thrown the final match and made it a fight by chosing one team that would naturally dominate the other. If they are working that closely a simple phone call or e-mail would have been sufficient to fix the team compositions.

I'm sure we're all grateful.
Perhaps PL can enter 10 teams next year and we can see who wins then. Douchebag!

Oh, so it's ok as long as you don't know it happened. Makes sense. Could make a cool politics/banking reference but meh...

In this case maybe the rules should be better in the future. As the final where a little bit boring (at 23:30 local û CET grrrrà), but anyway as they donÆt violate any rules -> they earned the reward.

I enjoyed the result as much as anyone else here and I wish CCP all the best luck in trying to find sponsors for their next public bowel movement. I am sure it will be just as well run and respected by the playerbase as this one was.
