That argument would hold a lot more water if it weren't for the fact that Incarna removes choices and ensures that people can't play it their wayà

The people that think that CCP is going to reinvest profits from the cash store games (Incarna and Dust, maybe WoD), into Eve: The Beta, is just wishing on a star. This money will go forward to their newest 'products' and that's just how its going to be. They'll leave a slice of devs with Eve as long as the subscriber count stays above 100k, but this small team is not going to be able to move the mountains of backlog items , let alone come up with some good, finished and fun content for the future. You are basically staring now at the final product of Eve Online. This is with the BEST case scenario. Worst Case, the cash stores fail and in doing so drag the company down with them.

Quote: 1. 10 HOURS DOWN TIME probably more like 24 hours given the normal way you calculate CCPs extended downtime's double it then add some more.
Get a life. If you can't, then find other game to play while it patches. Simple as that.
Quote: 2. people playing station games in high sec will be able to stay docked and entertained so they wont come out to play.
They won't come out of high-sec anyway. I suppose you should pay a visit to lowsecs, pretty lively out there. Or you're too busy camping gates, hm?
Quote: 3. adds little or nothing to the current game play.
Might add quite a lot of NEW gameplay.
Quote: 4. this current expansion is little more than a teaser and a way to mass test how incarna works on most PC'son tranquility.
So~?..
Quote: 5.It draws resources that could have been allocated to fixing, finishing and expanding already released features.
Stop wasting time on games, go to school and grow a brain. Maybe then you'll understand that nor Incarna nor WoD draws ANY resources from original EVE dev team. CCP wouldn't hire so many people just for EVE anyway, no company EVER will hire so much for just one game.
Quote: 6. and it just sucks.
Ok.

Edited by: James Vayne on 21/06/2011 11:33:50 I think you people know little or nothing about how very difficult it is to make a game and evolve it. Why are you such whingers? If you don't like it then >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>WOW IS THAT WAY. No? Oh, okay. In that case: suck it up.
There is more in Incarna than you realise. Granted it might not be shiny new stuff you can look at, but in the background, the mechanics, a whole tonne of stuff has been added. This paves the way for the future. You have to realise that they can't add any more content without rolling out new mechanics and stuff. So that is what this step is. Come winter (not far away!) we'll get some more cool stuff and less background stuff, I reckon.
Also, there's no point fixing existing problems under the old mechanic when you're going to be swapping it out for the new.
In short: quit whining and get a life.

Edited by: Vorce on 21/06/2011 14:03:30 @Tippia. 1. What you mean is that people wont play their game "your" way. Thats a whole 'nother story and not what we're talking about here.
2. Abandoning it cause it doesnt cater to you? OK, guess thats one way to look at it.
3. "Less than brilliant for those who don't want to use it"... you lost me. This doesnt affect them at all. Don't wanna use it? Fine, don't. Hard... isnt it? Unless a few min of your time each time you play is difficult for you to handle... if it is, how do you manage to play eve at all?

Educate yourselves before you go all nerd-crazy. First of all if you are crying about the servers being down for 24 hours you have some problems. Go get help. Second, please for ****s sake stop with the argument that resources could be spent on fixes.

looks re-reads, No I don't see fixes in there. Small nerf for t3's and turret animations. What part of these patch notes was cool enough for capslock?
I'll help with some examples
POS UI Changes, We've made it much easier to place modules and far less confusing. Ammuntion for POS guns will now be drawn from a specified Corporate hanger.
Forsaken Hubs have been fixed and no longer spawn without anything to shoot.
Yeah those are fixes
Oh hey I did find one "Mining drones now return to the drone bay, if that option is selected, after completing their cycle. Previously they would return to the ship but remain outside in an idle state." that's one I reported back in 2005. =D

well atm, this is my reason for Incarna=suck, I cannot log in do to the fact eve now requires SM3 compatible video card, hard to replace the video card on a laptop, and before you say it, I cannot afford to buy a new computer! the ability to just play the game out weighs in-game personal preference!

getting people into the action would help eve
Honestly, many people i have talked to that did not enjoy eve sited that they felt no connection to their character being in a pod at all times. Im not saying that incarna will sway everyone but it will add immersion; which whether you believe it or not is important to people.
Also do you really believe that eve players are so much more intelligent than other mmo players?
edit: punctuation
You have to admit that there are a hell of a lot of things to learn in eve and most of the more fun things take a lot of waiting etc and EVE is an Massive multiplayer / MMO getting back to the point it is not that eve players are more intelligent i can tell you there are a lot of dumb ass's in eve but we have the determination to climb that virtual rock face which is the learning curb of eve.
due to the steep learning curve, only the fraction of more patient, gutsy, [players who banded together], and figured out how to pvp or other complicated aspect [trade] i could consider to be topping as the more 'intelligent' of mmo players. the rest of us who care bear our way in missions wondering what the hell we're doing playing this crappy element of game play and wondering what the hell will happen if i ever do go into pvp suffer this massive pitfall in immersing ourselves in the games more complex mechanics.
i loathe this game because i am glued to it by coming back to set up skills and dreaming of the future. i don't have masses of time to go find a decent group to play with (not to mention how I'd have to haul all my s**t everywhere to start doing things with said people) and dying and losing millions in assets by getting my ass handed to me if i try pvp, really puts me off it. i started playing in 2006 and i quit once already. as the old meme graph of eve players goes... i died a long time ago.
i came back around the time of the planetary crapness, which wasn't worth even looking at for me.
the problems i have with this game are that they don't give a monkeys ass about guys who are a bit more afraid (who've lost a lot and had to work double/triple/quadruple hard to get their assets back) and generally making solo play more enjoyable.
who the hell can say they like doing missions? it's probably the only game in existence with such a major part which is a novelty lasting mere hours before becoming repetitive, tedious and awfully life-draining.
i somehow keep paying for this game in the hope that they will address above said issues, but it never seems to be looked at and remains the same and as boring as it ever was and ever will be.
how difficult would it have been to introduce players into what it's really like to do pvp with a bot? missions like that would really get you interested and prepared for the real deal. instead, you just stock fit a goddamn raven and check what resistances to take and missiles to blast; perhaps level up to a gravy navy and swap over to more death and less tank.. it still is just as boring but more vein throbbing.
god i loathe this game. Jesus. why oh why am i such a ******.. full of hope that the developers and think-tanks at ccp can actually improve their game play and the real issues of why people give the f*** up. and now we have incarna which gives a clunky addition, extra load time and a ****ing virtual couch. yeah, steps were made in the right direction...
